Paging Andrew Sullivan: Levi Johnston Lied About the Palin Family by Carissa Mulder Jul 7th 2010 at 4:06 am In an fascinating development for Sarah Palin fans, readers of People magazine, and people who think its best to believe a woman when she claims the infant shes carrying is her biological child, Levi Johnston has publicly apologized to the Palin family for lying about them. Johnston tells People magazine that he publicly said things about the Palins that were not completely true. Last year, after Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I publicly said things about the Palins that were not ...

Former Rep. Traficant Disqualified From Comeback Bid for Office Published July 06, 2010 YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Former Ohio U.S. Rep. James Traficant has been disqualified in his bid to return to Congress after seven years in prison because he did not turn in enough valid petition signatures to make the fall ballot, a county elections official said Tuesday. The colorful Traficant, who represented the Youngstown area of northeast Ohio as a Democrat in Congress for nearly two decades before being convicted in a corruption case, plans to appeal, an adviser said. The elections board in Trumbull County ruled that more than 1,000 of the 3,138 petition signatures that Traficant turned in were ...
Lack of jobs increasingly blamed on uncertainty created by Obama’s policies Post Date: 2010-07-06 14:54:01 by no gnu taxes

There is one word being mentioned by business leaders and economists more frequently when the conversation turns to why jobs are not returning more quickly to the U.S. economy: uncertainty. By reaching into virtually every sector of economic life, government is injecting uncertainty into the marketplace and making it harder to raise capital and create new businesses, said Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg at a speech in Washington in late June. Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Warsh said in a recent speech in Atlanta: Owing to a less-than-assured economic outlook and broad uncertainty about public policy, employers appear quite reluctant to add to payrolls. Roberton ...
Obama's Taxes Will Ruin Small Businesses Post Date: 2010-07-06 13:56:36 by no gnu taxes

As a common-sense small businessman, I have a front row seat to a slow-motion economic Armageddon that will be written about, discussed and debated for decades to come. Big shot economists dont listen to guys like me. They scoff as I predict that small business is suffering a catastrophe leading this nation towards levels of unemployment and economic crisis that will rival or surpass the Great Depression. Just last week, the Bureau of Labor Statistics quietly reported that the labor force dropped by roughly 1 million people during just the last two months. If those numbers were added into the unemployment numbers, it would shock the American people. I do not believe the ...

Here's The Real Reason Unemployment Is So High: Because President Tarball Makes It Impossible For Small Businesses To Hire Employees Post Date: 2010-07-06 13:29:44 by no gnu taxes

Everyone knows that the United States is bleeding jobs. According to one new study, the private sector in the United States has lost 10.5 million jobs since 2007. The U.S. economy lost 125,000 more jobs during the month of June. Approximately a million frustrated American workers have simply dropped out of the employment market altogether over the past two months. But the question not enough people are asking is why so many jobs are being lost. Yes, the large global corporations have been sending millions of jobs overseas where labor is far, far cheaper. And yes, the U.S. government has accumulated so much debt that it is absolutely suffocating the U.S. economy. But there is another very ...
Senate bill to repeal health reform lacks backing from Republican leaders Post Date: 2010-07-06 13:20:19 by go65

Although theyve called repeatedly for repeal of the Democrats new health reform law, some senior Senate Republicans have not endorsed a bill that would actually do it. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), GOP Conference Chair Lamar Alexander (Tenn.) and Conference Vice Chair Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) have all argued that the reforms passed in March without Republican support will hike costs and erode services, and therefore should be scrapped. Yet they havent signed on to their partys repeal proposal. That bill just nine words long has been endorsed by other party leaders, including Sens. Jon Kyl (Ariz.), the minority whip, and ...
Hoekstra skips unemployment extension vote for country club fundraiser, even as Michigan unemployment sits at 13.6%. Post Date: 2010-07-06 12:48:19 by go65

This afternoon, the House passed a bill to extend unemployment benefits for the next four months. The bill passed with bipartisan support, although 142 Republicans voted against it, along with 11 Democrats. Several members did not show up to vote however, including Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI), who is running for governor. Hoekstra, who hopes to govern a state with an unemployment rate of 13.6%, the second highest in the nation, spent the afternoon instead traveling to the Muskegon Country Club for a fundraiser. If the Senate fails to pass the Houses unemployment extension, then 90,000 Michigan residents are set to lose their unemployment checks by Saturday. Hoekstra also failed to vote ...

Obama: Less Competent than Jimmy Carter Post Date: 2010-07-06 11:31:10 by no gnu taxes

It is not true that General McChrystal demonstrated insubordination (as too many commentators held), and if we remember the long train of events launched in the fall of 2008 and concluding in McChrystals dismissal, we will readily understand that. First, this was not an act of insubordination. There was no refusal to follow orders, no evasion of orders, no failure to report, no countermanding of orders. It is a mistake to treat an act of conspicuous disrespect for an act of insubordination. While the discourse in the U. S. now tends to misread such disrespect as insubordination, that is both technically and colloquially incorrect. The current practice results rather from an attempt ...
Obama is a loser and a failure Post Date: 2010-07-06 11:05:58 by no gnu taxes

A senior U.S. intelligence source confirmed that the miserable failure of President Obama, in dealing with the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, has crystallized the view, among a vast majority of Americans, and among many leading Democratic Party officials as well, that Obama is a loser, incapable of managing this crisis, or any other crisis of similar magnitude. A poll conducted several days ago revealed that 60% of Americans believe that Obama has totally failed to manage the Gulf spill. According to the source, while Americans are growing more and more desperate over the economic collapse and the failure of Obama to take any action to solve the crisis, many were willing, still, to put ...
Obama balls in Texas mean oil hits all 5 Gulf states Post Date: 2010-07-06 10:53:19 by no gnu taxes

More than two months after oil from BP's blown-out seafloor well first reached Louisiana, a bucket's worth of tar balls that washed onto a Texas beach means the crude has arrived in every Gulf state. Oil is still on the move, but the fleet of skimmers tapped to clean the worst-hit areas of the Gulf of Mexico is not. A string of storms has made the water too choppy for the boats to operate for more than a week off Florida, Alabama and Mississippi, even though the gusher continues. The number of tar balls discovered in Texas is tiny compared to what has coated beaches in other Gulf states. Still, it provoked the quick dispatch of cleaning crews and a vow that BP PLC will pay for the ...

Manhattan apartment sales jumped 80 percent in the second quarter from a year earlier, reaching the highest level since 2008, as the citys job market improved. About 2,750 condominiums and cooperative apartments sold in the period, New York appraiser Miller Samuel Inc. and broker Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate said today. The average price per square foot was little changed at $1,051, reflecting an 18 percent drop from 2008s peak. The median apartment price rose 7.6 percent from a year earlier to $899,000. What were seeing is the first step in an improving housing market, Jonathan Miller, president of Miller Samuel, said in a telephone interview. New ...
Deficits Shrinking Most in Decades as Growth Lets S&P 500 Rally Post Date: 2010-07-06 10:06:47 by go65

Industrial countries are embarking on the most aggressive tightening of fiscal policy in more than four decades, led by the U.S. and Britain, as governments gamble they can pare debt without strangling an economic recovery. Rich nations will reduce their primary budget deficits, excluding interest payments, by 1.6 percentage points next year, the most since the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development began keeping records in 1970, according to JPMorgan Chase & Co. economists. The budget squeeze will lop 0.9 percentage point off growth in 2011. Even as President Barack Obama warns his counterparts to be wary of derailing demand, U.S. gross domestic product will be reduced ...

Barack Obama Supports the Murder of Newborn Infants Post Date: 2010-07-06 08:48:55 by A K A Stone

Barack Obama is so pro-abortion, when he was an Illinois state senator, he fought against passage of a bill to protect the lives of babies that were born alive, despite attempts to abort them. In other words, someone tried to kill them in the womb, and failed, and the child still managed to survive, only to be left to die with no care or support after being born...and Obama thought this was a procedure worth fighting for. From LifeSiteNews: In 2000, the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act (BAIPA) was first introduced in Congress. This was a two-paragraph bill intended to clarify that any baby who is entirely expelled from his or her mother, and who shows any signs of life, is to be ...
GOP LAWYERS FIGHT TO KEEP ANGLE'S PUBLIC VIEWS SECRET Post Date: 2010-07-06 08:37:19 by go65

Within a few days of Sharron Angle's Republican primary victory in Nevada's Senate's race, her campaign website had been yanked offline. As of mid-June, visitors to Angle's official site could donate money to the extremist candidate, but that was literally the only link on the page. Voters wanting to know more about the candidate had to go elsewhere. There was no real mystery here -- in the wake of Angle winning the nomination, it was time to scrub the site, removing content that made the GOP Senate hopeful look nutty. The campaign team did exactly that, taking three weeks to meticulously remove all references to Angle's stated plans to scrap Social Security, abolish ...
LeMieux to Obama: You’re getting failure all over our shores Post Date: 2010-07-05 18:51:40 by no gnu taxes

George LeMieux (R-FL) scolded President Barack Obama from the Senate floor yesterday, telling Obama that it wasnt just oil washing up on the shores of the Gulf; its failure. On Day 71 of the crisis, LeMieux noted that then-Senator Obama had a lot to say about George Bush and his response to Hurricane Katrina, including a focus on half-hearted measures. LeMieux also noted that Obama seems more interested in traveling around the nation and giving speeches crabbing about Republicans than in doing the job for which he campaigned two years ago. This is his job, LeMieux insisted about the Gulf crisis, not Ken Salazars:

The Can't Do Obama Administration (The Kenyan is a miserable failure) Post Date: 2010-07-05 11:59:07 by no gnu taxes

Other than violating the laws set forth in the Constitution, the Obama administration is the little train that can't. They are very close to having taken full governmental control of the automotive, health care, financial and energy private sector industries. Meanwhile, border security, military engagements, and providing an economic climate to allow for private sector job growth (how many times to liberals need to be told that government does not create jobs) lay fallow, things the federal government is specifically directed to do by the Constitution. So they CAN'T protect our borders. Homeland Security Sec Napolitano, CAN'T do anything about the border. In Afghanistan, a ...

Barack Obama is on his way to being the worst president in U.S. history. This has not dawned on him - yet. But it will soon. Last week, Oprah Winfrey in her "Christmas at the White House" special asked the president what grade he would give himself for his first year in office. "A good, solid B-plus," Mr. Obama said. "I think we have inherited the biggest set of challenges of any president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt. We stabilized the economy. ... We are on our way out of Iraq. I think we've got the best possible plan for Afghanistan. We have reset our image around the world." Mr. Obama added: "I think that we're going to pass the most ...

No Al Gore, Obama to Attend Chelsea Wedding Former Vice President Al Gore will not be attending the wedding of Chelsea Clinton, according to the British Daily Mail newspaper, but preparations are already underway for a rumored appearance by President Barack Obama. The daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton is scheduled to marry investment banker Marc Mezvinsky, 31, at the former estate of millionaire businessman John Jacob Astor IV in Rhinebeck, upstate New York. Amid a slew of new accusations that Gore sexually assaulted a masseuse, and his impending divorce from wife Tipper, a spokeswoman told the Mail that neither will be turning up. There are clear signs, though, that President Barack ...
