Charlie Rangel has been in the US Congress for 39 years. Maxine Waters has been there for 19 years. Clearly too long for both of them. It’s a fact that, for almost that long, being black and in government meant being bullet-proof and untouchable. Charlie Crist, waging a campaign as an independent for Florida's open senate seat, has moved out to a strong lead in the state's three-way race, no matter who the Democratic nominee is, according to a poll conducted July 24-28 for New York Times-owned newspapers. This latest survey has Crist ahead of Rubio by 41 percent to 30 percent with 12 percent for Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek. PHOENIX (AP) -- A sheriff in Arizona known for his anti-immigration policies says his office is investigating a report of a $1 million bounty on his head. A spokeswoman for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says the report was relayed by the FBI and by a caller who told Fox affiliate KSAZ-TV in Phoenix that the threat was from a Mexican drug cartel. Phoenix is the seat of Maricopa County. If you simply look at the national trends Democrats are in pretty bad shape right now. Barack Obama's approval numbers are hitting record lows in a lot of polling and the balance of the generic ballot surveys show Republicans in the lead. If you look at the trends in the actual races though things are getting sunnier for the Democrats. In June and July PPP polled eight Senate match ups that we had a previous poll to compare to- in all eight the Democratic candidate improved his/her position, by an average of 4.25 points. I’ve felt that Obama was a racist from the first day I decided to learn something about him. He recently reinforced my view with a careless comment on a women’s daytime gab show. Paraphrasing, Obama says we are mongrels, then quickly adds, so are white people, but we know more about it.
