Taming the Tea Parties [Suckers] Post Date: 2010-09-10 17:29:58 by Capitalist Eric

GOP regulars and their movement conservative drones have been sending signals for some time now that they wish to have the Tea Party be nice. While David Frum and David Brooks have generally followed the Left in condemning these extremists, Bill Kristol, George Will, Jonah Goldberg, and Rich Lowry have taken a gentler approach to the problem. Goldberg praises Glenn Beck and those who attended his Washington rally for being inspirational by invoking Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement. Never mind, as Al Sharpton correctly noted, that King held social and economic views that were diametrically opposed to those of his effusive admirers Beck and Sarah Palin. For ...

Would-be murder weapon: Fred Ensminger's pickup. "This guy ... just tried to run my husband over!" exclaimed Arkansas resident Cindy Nelson in a frantic 911 call on July 21. "Oh, my God -- he's shooting at us! Oh, my God!"A few minutes later, Fred Ensminger -- the deranged assailant -- placed a 911 call of his own."This is Diamondhead 1106," Ensminger told the suddenly swamped dispatcher. I have been shot and I need medical at my front gate ASAP."Ensminger is a recidivist criminal. Thanks to the fact that practically any bipedal simian with a pulse can become a police officer in Arkansas, Ensminger -- who just barely meets ...

INDIANAPOLIS -- 6News has learned that the FBI is investigating a growing group of Indiana residents who claim to be outside the law after their leader was convicted in a car theft scheme. The so-called "sovereign citizens" group, Guardians of the Free Republic, believes members are exempt from state and federal laws and that they are entitled to money held by the U.S. Treasury. The leader of the Indiana chapter, Walter Eugene Lunsford, was recently convicted of four counts of fraud and four counts of theft, 6News' Rafael Sanchez reported. Lunsford used the routing number of the Federal Reserve and his own Social Security number as his account number to buy five vehicles ...

Well, finally, an end to all those undocumented doubts. Thanks to some diligent digging by the Washington Post, those suspicions can at last be put to rest. They're correct. Accurate. Dead-on. Former Senator, Engineers Offer ‘Proof’ Of 9/11 Controlled Demolitions [Full Thread] Post Date: 2010-09-10 11:18:32 by Brian S

The nine-year-old body of 9/11 conspiracy theories includes many improbable (and sometimes contradictory) claims, everything from remote-controlled planes flying into the World Trade Center, to a missile hitting the Pentagon, to mass kidnappings of air passengers. But a group of more than 1,200 architects and engineers is building what it hopes is a scientifically sound argument about one 9/11 claim: That the World Trade Center buildings were destroyed not by fires caused by the airplane collisions, but by a controlled demolition. At a press conference in Washington DC, Thursday, the group Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth offered evidence "that all three WTC skyscrapers on ...

With so many Democrats running against the presidents agenda in the midterm, change will come in the next Congress, regardless of which party is in control. Barack Obama hit the campaign trail this week to resurrect some of that hopey-changey stuff and to complain that his critics talk about him like a dog. Turns out the president wasnt, in fact, referring to his own party. Voters might be forgiven the confusion. It isnt as if Democrats have been showing Mr. Obama much love. Quite the opposite. Seven weeks from Election Day, the vulnerable wing of the majority has finally found itself a campaign issue: blunt opposition to Mr. Obama and his agenda. Has it ...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. was slow to take seriously the threat posed by homegrown radicals and the government has failed to put systems in place to deal with the growing phenomenon, according to a new report compiled by the former heads of the Sept. 11 Commission. The report says U.S. authorities failed to realize that Somali-American youths traveling from Minnesota to Mogadishu in 2008 to join extremists was not an isolated issue. Instead, the movement was one among several instances of a broader, more diverse threat that has surfaced across the country. "Our long-held belief that homegrown terrorism couldn't happen here has thus created a situation where we are today ...

A federal appeals court is permitting federal funding of stem cell research to proceed temporarily until the court rules on the merits of the Obama administration's position in the case. The government is asking the appeals court in Washington to strike down a preliminary order by U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth blocking federal funding for some stem cell research. The three-member appeals panel says it is suspending Lamberth's ruling for now. The appeals judges say they want more time to deal with issues in the government's appeal.

The last General Electric factory in the U.S. to manufacture incandescent light bulbs is set to close its doors next month, as a federal move toward green technology has made the product obsolete, The Washington Post reported Wednesday. The Winchester, Va., plant partly fell victim to energy conservation legislation passed by Congress that will require Americans to start using more efficient bulbs by 2014, the report said. The 200 workers at the plant will lose their jobs when the doors shut for the final time, as the replacement bulbs, known as compact fluorescents (CL), are manufactured mainly overseas. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, CLs last up to 10 times longer ...

A Florida pastor at the center of a global storm over plans to burn hundreds of Korans said Thursday he would likely call off the event if asked to by the Obama administration. Terry Jones, head of the Dove World Outreach Center, told USA Today he had not been contacted by the White House, Pentagon or State Department about Saturday's planned ceremony on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks. If he were "that would cause us definitely to think it over. That's what we're doing now. I don't think a call from them is something we would ignore," Jones told the daily. US President Barack Obama on Thursday warned the burning ceremony would be a "recruitment ...

The trade deficit in the U.S. narrowed more than forecast in July as imports fell and exports climbed to the highest level in almost two years. The gap shrank 14 percent, the most since February 2009, to $42.8 billion, Commerce Department figures showed today in Washington. Economists forecast a deficit of $47 billion, according to the median of 73 projections in a Bloomberg News survey. Imports fell 2.1 percent, while exports increased 1.8 percent to $153.3 billion, the highest since August 2008. Shipments abroad will probably remain a source of strength for U.S. manufacturers as the worlds largest economy tries to sustain a recovery from the worst recession since the 1930s. Demand ...

(09-08) 19:36 PDT New York (AP) -- The imam behind a proposed Islamic community center and mosque near ground zero says moving it could cause a violent backlash from Muslim extremists and endanger national security. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf (rah-OOF') says the discourse surrounding the planned facility has become so politicized that moving it could result in violence. He says the reaction in the Muslim world could be more furious than the eruption of violence following the 2005 publication of Danish cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. Rauf made the comments in an interview broadcast Wednesday night on CNN. Opponents say the mosque should be moved farther away from where Islamic ...

Citing the Obama administrations evocation of the state secrets privilege, a divided federal appeals court agreed Wednesday to toss a lawsuit against a Boeing subsidiary accused of helping the CIA transport detainees to secret foreign prisons where they allegedly were tortured. Ruling 6-5, a panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said it was bound by a 1953 Supreme Court precedent requiring judges to dismiss cases if litigating them could expose government secrets and imperil national security. This case requires us to address the difficult balance the state secrets doctrine strikes between fundamental principles of our liberty, including justice, transparency, ...

Jacksonville, FL, United States (AHN) - The FBI has "high confidence" that a Florida church's plan to burn a Koran on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks would impel extremists to attempt to harm organizers and participants of the event as well as U.S. forces overseas . That assertion is made in an FBI memo dated Aug. 19 published Monday on the blog site www.infowars.com. By "high confidence" the memo said it meant a judgment that is based on "high quality information from multiple sources or from a single highly reliable source, and/or that the nature of the issue makes it possible to render a solid judgment."
