Washington, D.C. radio station WMAL is once again being accused of firing a popular talk show host because of his criticism of radical Muslims. The station, a major source of news and information for the nations capital, claims that popular morning host Fred Grandy resigned on his own, but Grandy tells AIM that he was essentially forced to leave after his wife, who is also outspoken about radical Islam, was cut from the program. The growing controversy over Grandys departure has resulted in some Grandy supporters charging the station with being Sharia-compliant, a reference to Islamic law, and with bending under pressure from the Council on American ...

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) The Sacramento Police Department will soon have more eyes on the streets. Theyre going to be partnering with public and private entities to tap directly into existing surveillance cameras across the city. Officers say this will allow them to get to surveillance video more quickly. There are hundreds of cameras across Sacramento and if we can tap into just some of those it will give us more eyes on the streets, said Sacramento Police Department Sgt. Norm Leong. Police already have three cameras up along Del Paso Boulevard. They say they wont be watching the new cameras live but will review tape after a crime is committed.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker won his job last November with 52% of the vote, but his popularity has slipped since then. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Wisconsin Voters finds that just 34% Strongly Approve of the job he is doing, while 48% Strongly Disapprove. Overall, including those who somewhat approve or disapprove, the new Republican governor earns positive reviews from 43% and negative reviews from 57% of voters statewide. In addition to the usual partisan and demographic breakdowns, its interesting to note that Walker, now engaged in a budget battle with unionized state workers, receives a total approval rating of 46% from households with private sector ...

Senator Sherrod Brown isn't the first Democrat to bring up Hitler and Stalin comparisons to Republicans who want public union reforms. The signs all over the Madison protests made the comparison too: The Hill: Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) took to the Senate floor Thursday to defend labor unions, saying that dictators like Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin opposed them. Brown said that unions have wrongly come under attack from Republicans and conservatives, who are pitting workers against one another in states like his, where governments are taking action on anti-union legislation. Though he said he was not making a direct comparison, Brown claimed that "some of the worst governments ...
Trial begins in slaying of Shaun Gayle's girlfriend Post Date: 2011-03-04 18:32:28 by A K A Stone

The killing of the pregnant girlfriend of former Chicago Bear Shaun Gayle was "cold, calculated and premeditated," prosecutors said today as they outlined their case against Marni Yang. But defense attorneys countered in their opening remarks that investigators focused exclusively on Yang, without considering whether anyone else could have killed Rhoni Reuter and her unborn child. While prosecutors portrayed Yang as a woman "obsessed" with Gayle and the women she saw as rivals for Gayle's affection, defense attorneys characterized her as a hard-working single mother of three who was unfairly targeted by overzealous investigators. Yang, 43, of Chicago, has pleaded ...

(CNSNews.com) - Mexican President Felipe Calderon yesterday joined President Barack Obama in calling for comprehensive immigration reform, a term used to describe reform that includes granted legal status to illegal aliens in the United States. We have also discussed immigration, an issue on which both countries have responsibilities, Obama said, standing next to Calderon during a White House joint news conference. As I told President Calderón, I remain deeply committed to fixing our broken immigration system with comprehensive reform that continues to secure our borders, enforces our laws--including against businesses that break the law--and requiring ...
Wisconsin Officials Rush to Walker-Proof Their Benefits Post Date: 2011-03-04 18:08:31 by A K A Stone

Just days after Gov. Scott Walker introduced his budget repair bill, public-sector-union leaders said they would accept Walkers financial demands as long as he kept collective bargaining intact. However, in the time bought by the flight of 14 Democratic state senators, local governments have been quickly adopting new contracts in advance of Walkers bill becoming law. In effect, the unions are spraying their benefits with Walker repellent. (In fact, an investigative report shows that there may have been collusion between the missing state senators and City of Madison officials to delay the bill so contracts could be signed.) Three days after the governor introduced his budget, ...

Obama administration prepares for possibility of new post-revolt Islamist regimes Post Date: 2011-03-04 17:38:05 by A K A Stone

The Obama administration is preparing for the prospect that Islamist governments will take hold in North Africa and the Middle East, acknowledging that the popular revolutions there will bring a more religious cast to the region's politics. The administration is already taking steps to distinguish between various movements in the region that promote Islamic law in government. An internal assessment, ordered by the White House last month, identified large ideological differences between such movements as the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and al-Qaeda that will guide the U.S. approach to the region. "We shouldn't be afraid of Islam in the politics of these countries," said a ...
Immigration and Drug Violence issues Spawn Newest DHS Road Checkpoint Initiative in Texas Post Date: 2011-03-04 16:38:00 by A K A Stone

We have WON every time they have attempted this in Texas. The TX and US Supreme CT has ruled the practice of road checkpoints unconstitutional, but that hasnt stopped the Locals and the Feds from trying over, and over, and over again. From DUI checkpoints, to immigration, to drug trafficking, and now unlicensed drivers
The well is deep and long. (Personally I have not had a license for 12 years, and have not had an accident in 25) This Hegelian con job to convince the people that they need this kind of protection is so weak, that Texans have rejected it again and again
. Of course this hasnt detoured the State and local police from setting ...
“Scientists” Pull a Snow Job on Reporters in Teleconference Post Date: 2011-03-04 15:11:44 by no gnu taxes

As we reported, the eco-pressure group, the Union of Concerned Scientists, as part of a continuing misinformation campaign sponsored a teleconference yesterday with a very confused Jeff Masters of Weather Underground, opportunist Mark Serreze of NSIDC and a UCS environmentalist. Their performance was a scientific disappointment to say the least as one scientist wrote me Masters lost all my respect. Serreze never had it. He didnt mention the UCS. It is the crazy uncle no one talks about. The Union of Concerned Scientists recall had sponsored a workshop on Mt. Washington in 2007 in which they promised ski areas that snow would be hard to come by even in northern areas and ...
Sarah Palin Looks Smart Now -- Obama Looks Like an Asshole Post Date: 2011-03-04 14:35:10 by no gnu taxes

With the price of gas skyrocketing and turmoil in the Middle East (again), former Alaska governor Sarah Palin's calls for energy independence and to "drill, baby, drill" right here in our own country during the 2008 presidential campaign are sounding prophetic. As President Obama restricts drilling efforts in our own country and increases our dependence on foreign energy sources, and gas prices rise to the point they may once again cripple our economy, it's becoming clear we need a different type of leadership in the White House. Governor Palin alone among the potential presidential candidates in 2012 has the experience (as commissioner of the Alaska Oil & Gas ...
Connecticut Town Ordered to Pay for Union Workers’ Coffee Post Date: 2011-03-04 13:40:05 by Happy Quanzaa

A Connecticut town must provide their union workers free coffee and milk, according to a ruling from the State Board of Labor Relations. The board also ordered town leaders to reinstate Dress Down Fridays for the union clerical and custodial workers. The dispute involved the town of Orange and the local chapter of the United Public Service Employees Union. The board determined the town retaliated against the union members for comments they made at a finance meeting in 2009. The day after that meeting, First Selectman James Zeloi eliminated the free coffee and milk and the following day ended Dress Down Friday. Zeoli told The New Haven Register that he pulled the ...
Republicans, Fed Clash on Job Impact of Spending Cuts Post Date: 2011-03-04 12:42:22 by go65

U.S. Representative Kevin McCarthy thought he had an ally in Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on the impact that Republican budget cuts will have on jobs. McCarthy, of California, the third-ranking House Republican, said this week the spending cuts wont cost the nation jobs, pointing to Bernanke for support. Within hours, Bernanke testified on Capitol Hill that the budget reductions may lead to the loss of 200,000 jobs. The Fed chief said the House Republican plan to slash $61 billion from 2011 government spending could also subtract a couple of tenths of a percentage point from U.S. economic growth over several years. We need to address the deficit; ...
Proposed Texas immigration law contains convenient loophole for ‘the help’ Post Date: 2011-03-04 11:25:39 by go65

Texas has long been a hotbed of controversy on immigration issues. And a proposed immigration bill in the Texas state House is sure to raise more than a few eyebrows. The bill would make hiring an "unauthorized alien" a crime punishable by up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine, unless that is, they are hired to do household chores. Yes, under the House Bill 2012 introduced by a tea party favorite state Rep. Debbie Riddle -- who's been saying for some time that she'd like to see Texas institute an Arizona-style immigration law -- hiring an undocumented maid, caretaker, lawnworker or any type of houseworker would be allowed. Why? As Texas state Rep. Aaron Pena, also ...

State Workers Dont Want To Play By Same Rules As Federal Employees March 4, 2011 by Personal Liberty News Desk Liberals across the United States are up in arms about several State proposals that would limit collective bargaining rights for public worker unions. Legislation has been filed, and protested, in Ohio, Tennessee, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas and Indiana. However, FOX News reported that the public outcry against these bills might be much ado about nothing. The Republican model being considered by many State legislatures is quite similar to the set of limitations placed on Federal employees. The Civil Service Reform Act (CSRA) of 1978, which was passed by Democratic President Jimmy ...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Employers hired in February at the fastest pace in almost a year and the unemployment rate fell to 8.9 percent -- a nearly two-year low. The economy added 192,000 jobs last month, with factories, professional and business services, education and health care among those expanding employment. Retailers, however, trimmed jobs. State and local governments, wrestling with budget shortfalls, slashed 30,000 jobs, the most since November. Federal government hiring was flat. Private employers added 222,000 jobs last month, the most since April. That shows that companies are feeling more confident in the economy and about their own financial prospects. And it bolstered hopes that ...

We know that Hawaii confirmed that much through the press. We know that Obama has some kind of irregular vital records on file with the HDOH. We even know the Kapiolani Letter is bogus and bears a bogus White House seal. But, what follows tops it all. What follows should be the story of the century, in my opinion. What follows is the proof from the former Director of the Hawaii Department of Health, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, M.D, that ...

With Big Oil raking in record profits, House Democrats offered a Motion to Recommit to the House Republican short-term spending bill this afternoon making a responsible cut to the budget: putting an end to taxpayer-funded subsidies to large oil companies. Repealing these subsidies would save taxpayers tens of billions over the next decade and even ex-Shell CEO John Hofmeister agrees saying with high oil prices, such subsidies are not necessary. Rep. William Keating (D-MA) offered the motion on the House floor saying lets stop sending taxpayers money to the most profitable companies in the world. ...Republicans voted unanimously against the motion, ...

House Democrats used a creative floor maneuver Wednesday to force Republicans into blocking the elimination of more than $180 million in funds left over from the infamous Bridge to Nowhere earmark. During consideration of a bill that would extend the authorization for surface transportation programs through Sept. 30, Democrats offered a motion to recommit that would have eliminated $183 million in funding to Alaska. Originally earmarked in the 2005 surface transportation reauthorization for two bridges in rural Alaska, the funds were ultimately directed to the states transportation department after the earmark became a symbol of Congress abuse of the system. Hoping to score a major prosecution of Mexican drug lords, federal prosecutors and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives permitted hundreds of guns to be purchased and retained by suspected straw buyers with the expectation they might cross the border and even be used in crimes while the case was being built, according to documents and interviews. The decision part of a Phoenix-based operation code named Fast and Furious was met by strong objections from some front-line agents who feared they were allowing weapons like AK-47s to walk into the hands of drug lords and gun runners, internal agency memos show. Indeed, scores of the ...
