PHOENIX (AP) - Facebook said Friday it mistakenly removed a post in which Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer criticized a controversial policy decision by President Barack Obama's administration to limit deportations of illegal immigrants. The Republican governor had said in a post Friday that Facebook censored the item she posted Thursday because it apparently violated Facebook's community standards. Brewer didn't elaborate in her post, but she said Friday in an interview that an email she received from Facebook said the post was removed because of an included illustration. The email, which she read aloud, didn't specify how the illustration violated standards. "I'd like ...

About Obama's 'missing girlfriends' Post Date: 2011-08-19 19:24:20 by no gnu taxes

As WND reported, radio host Rush Limbaugh raised an intriguing question on the air: "Where are all of Obama's former girlfriends?"
In referring to past email inquiries he received on this subject, Limbaugh continued, "They are interesting because those people haven't surfaced. There aren't any ex-girlfriends that have admitted it."
In fact, I wrote about this question in my book, "Deconstructing Obama," and on these pages last year. As the likely source of these rumors, I thought I might clarify them, at least to the degree they can be clarified.
As it happens, Obama inadvertently raised the girlfriend issue himself in his 1995 memoir, "Dreams from My Father." Published when he was ...

Political Realities Are a Bit Hard for Rep. Maxine Waters to Accept by Kevin L. Martin Seems Rep. Maxine Waters let her private frustrations with President Obama boil over publicly at the recent For the People Jobs Initiative forum in Detroit Rep. Waters has a hard time dealing with reality. Rep. Waters politely chastised President Obama for not including majority Black Communities on his, jobs bus tour, of the Mid-West recently. Waters went on to publicly admit that she and her fellow Congressional Black Caucus(CBC) Members were/are tired of making excuses for the President within the Black Community, but then admitted that they dont put pressure ...

Big Labor gambled and lost on Wisconsin recalls By:Brett Healy | Op-Ed Contributor | 08/18/11 8:05 PM. Wisconsin Democrats' inability to defeat three Republican incumbent state senators in the recent recall elections here in Wisconsin is a devastating loss for Big Labor. These recalls were Big Labor's last stand and will have national ramifications for years to come. A host of political action committees associated with national and state labor organizations shelled out more than $16 million for nine recall elections. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees poured nearly $3 million into the races; the AFL-CIO ponied up $5.2 million. The Wisconsin ...

Credit: Reuters/Brian Snyder WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Oil trading data that exposed the extensive positions speculators held in the run-up to record high prices in 2008 were intentionally leaked by a U.S. senator, sparking broader concern about industry confidentiality as Congress moves on Wall Street reform. Senator Bernie Sanders, a staunch critic of oil speculators, leaked the information to a major newspaper in a move that has unsettled both regulators and Wall Street alike. In a June 16 e-mail reviewed by Reuters, a senior policy adviser to Sanders ...

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper stopped the SUV in which Lt. Gov. Rick Perry was riding on June 28, 2000, for going 75 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone. A camera mounted on the dashboard of the officer's car recorded the stop. Perry later explained that he had been late to a meeting and was frustrated and that he regretted getting out of the vehicle.

The Rich lied to America. We want our jobs and money back. **Standing in our way are most Republicans and some Democrats (that seems to be the ratio) who still carry water for the oligarchs that stole our fortunes away. How long will this go on before we correct their error?** Post Date: 2011-03-03 11:44:40 by Destro Back in the 90s the free-trade/globalization movement that had begun in earnest a decade earlier took full shape. At the time we had a Democratic President in Clinton who along with some Democrats from his party and most Republicans passed NAFTA and a host of other free trade / open border globalization economic policies. The American people were told that if they supported ...

Jon Stewart Defends The Poor From Fox News Repeated Claims Of Class Warfare VIDEO by Frances Martel | 11:40 pm, August 18th, 2011 After several days of courting conservatives with a surprisingly strong defense of both Rick Perry and Ron Paul, Jon Stewart went back to his bread and butter today, taking some time to give his fans the sort of red meat that makes the show so popular mocking various Fox News personalities for claiming that closing tax loopholes could be tantamount to class warfare. Stewart used bizarrely uneccentric billionaire Warren Buffett and his recent column asking the federal government to raise taxes on people in his ...
Just as he promised, Obama has fundamentally transformed America -- Change for the Worse Post Date: 2011-08-19 10:16:32 by no gnu taxes

The Standard & Poor's downgrade of U.S. debt is the latest fruit of the Obama administration's big-government policies. Ask Americans how the country is doing, and the response is a vote of no confidence. In August 2009, 34% of likely voters said the country was headed in the right direction. A month ago that proportion had declined to 25%, and last week only 16% thought so. Rasmussen's mid-August poll found that 4% of adults rate the economy as good or excellent, and 66% think we are doing poorly. Just before his election as president, Barack Obama declared that "we are five days from fundamentally transforming America." He has made good on that promise. Huge ...
Michele Bachmann Falsely Billed Herself As A Doctor Post Date: 2011-08-19 00:31:16 by go65

On the campaign trail in Iowa, Rep. Michele Bachmann's response to the argument that she lacks the experience to run for president has been to turn the argument on its head. The Minnesota congresswoman rattles off her resume: She was a federal tax litigation attorney; she and her husband started "a successful small company"; she fought the establishment in the state Legislature and Congress. And one more thing: Lest you think she doesn't have the brains to do battle with Obama, she rattles off her degrees. "I'm not only a lawyer, I have a postdoctorate degree in federal tax law from William and Mary," she told Fox News' Chris Wallace in June. "I ...
Police Scramble To Fight Flash-Mob Mayhem Post Date: 2011-08-18 19:46:32 by Brian S

(CNN) -- This week in Germantown, Maryland, it took less than a minute for a flash mob of teenagers to descend on a 7-Eleven, ransack shelves and make off with hundreds of dollars worth of stuff. It's going to take much longer for police in Montgomery County to figure out how to prevent it from happening again. "We had always thought flash mobs happen in big cities. We are unprepared. We don't have anyone who has social-media expertise," said county police spokeswoman Janelle Smith. "Even if we did, our budget looks like every other law enforcement agency in the country. It's not pretty." Police in Maryland are not alone in their scramble to find creative, ...
Arne Duncan: 'I Feel Very, Very Badly' for Kids in Rick Perry's Texas Schools Post Date: 2011-08-18 16:57:41 by go65

Obama Education Secretary Arne Duncan has taken aim at Texas Gov. Rick Perry for what he describes as the abysmal quality of education in the states public schools. Far too few of their high school graduates are actually prepared to go on to college," Duncan tells Bloomberg TVs Al Hunt of Texas in an interview set to air tomorrow. "I feel very, very badly for the children there." Texas ranks 43rd among states for high school graduation rate, according to the Legislative Budget Boards 2010 Texas Fact Book. Slightly more than 61 percent of students graduate each year. You have seen massive increases in class size. Youve seen cutbacks in ...

What's ailing us? It's not just unemployment. It's not just Europe's debt woes. And, no, it's not Wall Street this time. It's the takeover of the economic debate by fanatics who are up to no good. Fix that -- and maybe you fix the economy. FORTUNE -- What the hell is going on? Standard & Poor's, the bond-rating agency, downgrades the U.S., and the world trembles. The markets here go nuts on the first trading day after the downgrade, losing $1 trillion in value. European Union finance chiefs are playing Whac-a-Mole with members' debt problems. And England
England was literally burning. Only three short years ago we were all terrified when our ...

Texas, we have a problem. Your GOP governor is running for president against Barack Obama. Yet, one of his most infamous acts as executive of the nations second-largest state smacks of every worst habit of the Obama administration. And his newly crafted rationalizations for the atrocious decision are positively Clintonesque. In February 2007, Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed a shocking executive order forcing every sixth-grade girl to submit to a three-jab regimen of the Gardasil vaccine. He also forced state health officials to make the vaccine available free to girls ages 9 to 18. The drug, promoted by manufacturer Merck as an effective shield against the sexually ...

From the recent debt ceiling hysterics, we have seen just how dysfunctional America is now, as the Establishment satisfies its short-term, immediate-gratification needs at the expense of the people and future generations. Every subsequent day is increasingly depressing and discouraging, with one news item after another how the controlling rulers in Washington are just rearranging the deck chairs and kicking the can further down the road. Out of the rulers own narcissistic selfishness, greed and self-absorption, they continue to increase our financial insecurity and enslavement, and increase the risk of total economic collapse and societal ruin and chaos. America has been falling ...
Oil Rising from Macondo Well: BP Hires Fleet of 40 Shrimp Boats to Lay Boom Around Deepwater Horizon Site Post Date: 2011-08-18 14:48:04 by Capitalist Eric

No, this isnt a post from last year. Oil from the Macondo Well site is fouling the Gulf anew and BP is scrambling to contain both the crude and the PR nightmare that waits in the wings. Reliable sources tell us that BP has hired 40 boats from Venice to Grand Isle to lay boom around the Deepwater Horizon site located just 50 miles off the Louisiana coast. The fleet rushed to the scene late last week and worked through the weekend to contain what was becoming a massive slick at the site of the Macondo wellhead, which was officially killed back in September 2010. The truly frightening part of this development, as reported in a previous post (see below), is the ...
Mortgage Rates Hit 50-Year Low Post Date: 2011-08-18 14:09:35 by buckeroo

Back in June, in a post about adjustable-rate home loans, Bucks mused about how nice it would be to have a mortgage interest rate that began with a 3. The way things are going, that time may not be far off for fixed-rates loans, as well. Mortgage rates reached record lows this week, according to the weekly market survey from Freddie Mac. The average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate loan fell to 4.15 percent, with borrowers paying an average point of 0.7 percent. That rate is down from 4.32 percent last week. It is the lowest in over 50 years, Frank Nothaft, vice president and chief economist at Freddie Mac, said in a news release. The surveys previous low was ...
Report: Feds Launch Probe Into S&P Mortgage Rates Post Date: 2011-08-18 14:03:19 by buckeroo

The credit rating agency that downgraded U.S. debt is reportedly the target of a federal investigation. The New York Times reports the Justice Department is looking into whether Standard and Poor's rated dozens of mortgage securities improperly in the years leading up to the housing bust. The Times says investigators want to know if S&P executives overruled analysts who wanted to award lower ratings, which could damage the belief that analysts act independently. S&P and other ratings agencies made record profits during the housing boom by awarding high ratings on troubled mortgages, making them appear less risky. The investigation was reportedly under way before S&P ...
Another Mississippi Murder: What the Killing of James C. Anderson Teaches Us (7 white teens mob attack and kill old black man) Post Date: 2011-08-18 10:58:21 by Godwinson

James C. Anderson was a 49 year-old African-American automobile worker who lived in Jackson, Mississippi. On the surface, James Anderson was no different from you and me. He had a family, worked hard and held on to hopes and dreams of a better life for himself and his loved ones. Sadly he would not live to see any of those hopes and dreams realized during his lifetime. On a sweltering hot Sunday morning on June 29 at approximately five o'clock, Anderson was spotted standing near his car in a motel parking lot by a mob of seven teens from the nearby predominantly white town of Brandon. He was alone, unarmed and minding his own business, oblivious to the terror that was about to come his ...

President Barack Obama, on a three-day bus tour in the Midwest, arrives for a town hall meeting in Atkinson, Ill., on Wednesday. He has asked people to encourage their Congress members to work with him. Under fire in a nation desperate for jobs President Barack Obama will soon announce a package of tax cuts, construction work and help for the millions of Americans unemployed for months, a White House official said Wednesday. Republicans immediately cast doubt about any such plan, setting up a new economic showdown as the presidential campaign intensifies. Obama will unveil his economic strategy in a speech right after Labor Day, hoping to frame the jobs debate by pressuring Republicans ...
