Occupy Wall Street Protesters Have Amassed $230,000 And Supplies Post Date: 2011-10-16 18:44:48 by Brian S

The Wall Street protesters have amassed a $230,000 war chest and a warehouse full of supplies for their long-haul campaign. And the money continues to pour in -- through online donations, money orders and about $1,000 a day dropped in a plastic jug and paint buckets in Zuccotti Park. Occupy Wall Street has also been flooded with goods -- everything from peanut butter to tampons -- at a rate of about 100-400 new packages a day that has overwhelmed the local UPS branch. Most of the supplies are being stashed in a United Federation of Teachers storage facility near the park. They include so-called jail support kits, which include a blanket, granola bar and sanitary wipes to ...

Ignoring Ron Paul Has Reached Comic Proportions Post Date: 2011-10-16 15:47:33 by We The People

Yesterday, Ron Paul won the Los Angeles County straw poll. He had more votes than Romney and Cain combined. It was a small gathering but a confirmation of Paul's much larger victory in the California State Straw Poll last month. And like the California Poll, it was virtually ignored by the national media. They prefer to bask in denial and focus on Herman Cain's showing in the recent Florida straw poll whose delegates were actually chosen last summer. The distorted media coverage or lack of coverage of presidential candidate Ron Paul can sometimes reach comic proportions. Yesterday the New York Daily News solemnly told its readers that Herman Cain, having just raised $8 million, ...
House Votes to Protect Life Post Date: 2011-10-16 10:23:46 by CZ82

House Votes to Protect Life In the late 1930s through the middle of the 1940s, the world was appalled to learn that Hitler and his Nazi regime had murdered over 6 million Jews in what became known as the Holocaust. In the late 1970s, Saloth Sar, better known as Pol Pot, led the Khmer Rouge government of Cambodia and was responsible for the murders of nearly 2.5 million Cambodians. Again the world was in an uproar and Pol Pots reign of terror ended in 1979 when Viet Nam invaded Cambodia. However, since January 22, 1973 when the US Supreme Court voted 7-2 in the infamous Roe v. Wade case, nearly 48 million Americans have been massacred and the world remains silent. Although the world ...
Papantonio: GOP Ready To Steal 2012 Election Post Date: 2011-10-15 19:48:26 by Ferret Mike

-- The GOP is in bad shape heading into the 2012 election, as their crop of potential candidates isn't winning over the support of the public. So they've come up with another plan to win back the White House -- they're going to prevent Democrats from voting. By implementing new forms of poll taxes and voter ID requirements, the GOP is hoping to prevent under privileged voters from casting a vote for Obama.

Morgan that took $10 billion in federal bailout funds back in 2008 during the financial crisis, is a "Corporate Partner" providing funding to the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund. Thousands Protest Banks, Corporate Greed In U.S. Marches Post Date: 2011-10-15 19:14:26 by Brian S

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Thousands of anti-Wall Street protesters rallied in New York City's Times Square on Saturday, buoyed by a global day of demonstrations in support of their month long campaign against corporate greed. Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement, protests on Saturday started in Asia and rippled through Europe back to the United States and Canada. Protesters fed up with economic inequality took to the streets in cities from Washington, Boston and Chicago to Los Angeles, Miami and Toronto. After weeks of intense media coverage, the size of the U.S. protests on Saturday have been smaller than G20 meetings or political conventions have yielded in recent years. Such ...

Hippies-turned-yuppies hate to be reminded they sold out. By Daniel J. Flynn on 10.14.11 @ 6:09AM "We Built This City" has been named the worst song -- again. Rolling Stone announced this week that its readers have dubbed the #1 hit as the worst the 1980s have to offer. The vote was apparently a landslide. The synth-driven tune -- synth drums, synth slap-bass, synth synths -- had earlier topped a Blender magazine list of the worst songs ever. Since then, it has proved the best at being named the worst. But more revolting than Glenn Frey's "You Belong to the City"? Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone"? Color Me Badd's "I Wanna Sex You Up"? ...
Thousands Rally In DC For Easier Access To Jobs Post Date: 2011-10-15 14:55:58 by Brian S

(10-15) 11:03 PDT WASHINGTON (AP) -- Thousands of Americans led by the Rev. Al Sharpton and other civic leaders rallied for easier access to jobs on Saturday as they gathered against the backdrop of the Washington Monument and marched to the new Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. The rally was intended to drum up support for President Barack Obama's jobs plan, but speakers used the platform for causes as varied as condemning voter identification laws and last month's execution of Troy Davis in Georgia. Davis was convicted of killing an off-duty police officer. He maintained his innocence until his death, and thousands around the world rallied to his cause. But state and federal ...

Ok guys
Is this just a minor thing? Or a big deal? Ill let you speculate on what it means
. Heres the news reported by the Sarah Palin Blog: I was walking through the grocery store earlier today when I received a text message from a close friend asking me if I had taken note of the change on Sarah Palins Facebook page. I confessed that it had been an exceptionally busy day and that I had not looked at Palins page today. My friend then brought to my attention that under the Info link, Palins political views have been changed from Republican to Conservative. For a brief moment, it didnt phase me as I am ...

I Don't Want to Save the World! By Luba Sindler I grew up in a country whose whole reason for existence was saving the world. We all had to sacrifice our time, our already meager resources, and our ability to buy a pair of shoes or some toilet paper (forget our freedom!) for the benefit of the working classes being oppressed en masse around the globe. There was always something to justify our misery today for the objective of the shining tomorrow: helping communist movements to overturn capitalism, giving military aid to friendly countries, keeping so-called allies in check, installing a new dictator somewhere, and on and on. No ordinary citizen in his right mind believed a word ...
How Absurd Is Regulating Greenhouse Gases through the Clean Air Act? Post Date: 2011-10-15 08:04:19 by CZ82

How Absurd Is Regulating Greenhouse Gases through the Clean Air Act? by Marlo Lewis on September 27, 2011 Pretty darn near the height of absurdity. Thats not just my opinion. Its a key premise of EPAs Tailoring Rule, which exempts small greenhouse gas (GHG) emitters from regulation under the Clean Air Acts (CAA) Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) pre-construction permitting program and Title V operating permits program. As EPA explains in a brief filed last week with the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, once the agencys GHG emission standards for new motor vehicles took effect on January 2, 2011, major stationary sources of ...

Zo is sick of people criticizing Herman Cain. What will it take for the race establishment to believe that Herman Cain is black? Will he have to start acting like a victim? Will he have to put chains on the brain, or worse, smoke crack? When will Rev. Al Sharpton wake up and congratulate Herman Cain for his accomplishments? Find out.

US worries over China's underground nuclear network Post Date: 2011-10-14 22:08:40 by A K A Stone

A leading US lawmaker who fears budget cuts could delay modernizing the US nuclear arsenal voiced concern Friday about an extensive tunnel complex designed to house Chinese nuclear missiles. "This network of tunnels could be in excess of 5,000 kilometers (3,110 miles), and is used to transport nuclear weapons and forces," said Michael Turner, who chairs a House Armed Services Committee panel focusing on strategic weapons and other security programs. "As we strive to make our nuclear forces more transparent, China is building this underground tunnel system to make its nuclear forces even more opaque," he added, citing an unclassified Department of Defense report. ...
Rush Limbaugh, Defender of the Lord’s Resistance Army Post Date: 2011-10-14 21:36:26 by go65

In the October 14th episode of his radio show, Rush Limbaugh defended the Ugandan terrorist group calling itself the Lords Resistance Army, portraying the LRA as Christians targeted by President Obama for being Christian, and defending the agitprop of the LRA by reading it as gospel. Only at the very last minute did Limbaugh admit to not really knowing jack about the LRA but thats all it takes to become an embedded wingnut meme. Before I quote the transcript, let me illustrate the monstrosities Rush Limbaugh is defending in order to score political points against President Obama, by portraying the LRA as Christian freedom fighters: Click for Full Text!
GOP Wants to ‘Let Women Die on the Floor’? Post Date: 2011-10-14 19:11:33 by CZ82

GOP Wants to Let Women Die on the Floor? MSNBCs Martin Bashir hooked up with pro-abortion Rep. Diana DeGette to bash pro-life conservatives as misogynists [women haters], during a seven-and-a-half minute long segment. Bashir claimed that its hardly surprising that the proposed Protect Life Act, which would protect the conscience rights of health care workers, has earned the moniker the let women die act. Here are some of Bashirs insane comments: What are they focusing on in the Congress today? . . . yet another bill that takes dead aim at a womans right to choose. The right to choose ...

My Advice to the Occupy Wall Street Protesters: Hit Bankers Where It Hurts Post Date: 2011-10-14 13:59:15 by Capitalist Eric

I've been down to "Occupy Wall Street" twice now, and I love it. The protests building at Liberty Square and spreading over Lower Manhattan are a great thing, the logical answer to the Tea Party and a long-overdue middle finger to the financial elite. The protesters picked the right target and, through their refusal to disband after just one day, the right tactic, showing the public at large that the movement against Wall Street has stamina, resolve and growing popular appeal. 3rd Circuit Appeal Ruling Favoring Mumia Abu-Jamal Smacks Down US Supreme Court Post Date: 2011-10-14 13:37:11 by Ferret Mike

The federal Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia, in a stunning smack at the U.S. Supreme Court, has issued a ruling upholding its earlier decision backing a new sentencing hearing in the controversial case of Mumia Abu-Jamal, the convicted killer of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner. The latest ruling, issued on Tuesday April 26, 2011, upholds a ruling the Third Circuit issued over two years ago siding with a federal district court judge who, back in 2001, had set aside Abu-Jamals death penalty after determining that death penalty instructions provided to the jury, and a flawed jury ballot document used during Abu-Jamals 1982 trial, had been unclear. The ...

Well then it must be that grumpy old man, Ron Paul. Oops, no, it isnt him either. Who is it, then? None other than Sir Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank of England. He said this last week, and he wasnt talking about just England, he was talking about our global economy. Hes not some sort of insider oddity, either. The Bank of International Settlements the central bankers central bank sounds like Sir Mervyn. An advisor to the International Monetary ...
Auto Bailout Done, Obama Looks for Payback Post Date: 2011-10-14 11:30:59 by war

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. President Obama arrives here on Friday on another visit to Michigan, seeking not only the electoral votes that are essential to his re-election effort, but a platform for a far bigger message. He has returned again and again, nine times since taking office, to argue that his decision to bail out two of the Big Three automakers helped workers here and across the industrial Midwest. He has offered up a rebuttal to criticism about the value of government intervention. The presidents path to a second term is built around winning a wide swath of states, including many with close ties to the auto industry. They are home to some of his biggest political and ...
