Even Kafka Would Be Scandalized at Obama Administration’s Effort To Banish References to God From Memorial to FDR

The effort by junior administration officials to banish all references to God from the speeches recorded on plaques at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial in Washington, DC, is an outrage. It would be wrong to impute every action of everyone in the vast U.S. government to the dispositions of the current president, but any militant disregard for religious sensibilities does seem to reflect his disparagement of the tendency of Americans who don't vote for him to reach for religion (and guns) in their social frustrations. It also rankles from a commander-in-chief who took his religion for 20 years from Jeremiah Wright, apostle of the view that, among other exaltations of soul, 9/11 was ...

Oneal Ron Morris, 30, was arrested Friday after an investigation by Miami Gardens Police and the Florida Department of Health. According to police, the victim saw Morris in May and was injected in her buttocks with a substance consisting of cement, "Fix a Flat," mineral oil and super glue. Crystal Cathedral sold to Catholic Church

The Crystal Cathedral, home of the “Hour of Power” televised services, succumbed to bankruptcy and will lose its famed building. The California church will be selling its Philip Johnson-designed architectural landmark to the Catholic Church. One of the first megachurches in the country, the Crystal Cathedral revolutionized religious architecture. The Crystal Cathedral, completed in 1980, was designed for televangelist Robert Schuller’s congregation of more than 10,000 people. The building spans 416 feet in length, 207 feet in width and 128 feet in height, and is covered by 10,000 panes of tempered silver-tinted glass held in place by steel trusses. Doors of 90 feet in ...

OWS: If a Cop Tries to Arrest You, Kill Him
Post Date: 2011-11-19 15:49:52 by A K A Stone

Every single day that passes, Occupy Wall Street becomes more violent and more desperate. After over 4,000 arrests, dozens of rapes, hundreds of thefts, and multiple murders, it is exceedingly evident that OWS is an anarchistic group of morons with no apparent purpose. The only rallying cry they see to have is, "We are the 99%," a lie that spits in the face of the facts. However, it appears that OWS has a new cry: kill the police. Occupy Wall Street is now advising people to resist arrest. And they do not mean peacefully existing arrest. No, instead OWS suggests that, if a police officer tries to arrest you, you have the right to murder him on the spot: And, no, this is not some ...

Obama USDA delays shale drilling, up to 200k jobs

Obama USDA delays shale drilling, up to 200k jobs by Joel Gehrke President Obama's United States Department of Agriculture has delayed shale gas drilling in Ohio for up to six months by cancelling a mineral lease auction for Wayne National Forest (WNF). The move was taken in deference to environmentalists, on the pretext of studying the effects of hydraulic fracturing. “Conditions have changed since the 2006 Forest Plan was developed," announced WNF Supervisor Anne Carey on Tuesday. "The technology used in the Utica & Marcellus Shale formations need to be studied to see if potential effects to the surface are significantly different than those identified in the ...

Media Can Avoid NYPD Arrest By Getting Press Pass They Can’t Get

To employ a tired journalism cliche, call it a classic Catch-22. Stu Loeser, a spokesman for New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg, says the best way for reporters to avoid being arrested while covering Occupy Wall Street is to carry a press pass issued by the New York Police Department. [UPDATE: Loeser says that's not what he meant. Details below.] But the NYPD isn’t issuing press passes to reporters covering Occupy Wall Street, as we learned when we contacted them Thursday. “We aren’t issuing press credentials to reporters covering Occupy Wall Street,” said Detective Gina Sarubbi, NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information. So far the NYPD has ...

Ron Paul Warns GOP Not To "Capitulate" On Taxes, Won't Rule Out Indy Bid

Ron Paul with Sean Hannity discussing the economy and the election. Paul talks about the lack of attention he receives, if he is not ignored altogether. Paul says he and his staff were "annoyed" by the fact that he only received 89 seconds to speak at the last Republican debate. Paul warned his Republican colleagues in the Congress that they better keep their pledge to not raise taxes. He says if they do "capitulate" on taxes then people will make them pay. "I have no intention of doing that," Paul says of a third-party run if he doesn't get the Republican nomination. However, when asked several times by Hannity to rule out an independent bid, he would ...

GOP outsider Ron Paul gaining traction in Iowa

VINTON, Iowa (AP) -- Texas Rep. Ron Paul is emerging as a significant factor in the Republican presidential race, especially in Iowa. He's been long dismissed by the GOP establishment, but the libertarian-leaning candidate is now turning heads beyond his hard-core followers - and rising in some polls - just weeks before the state holds the leadoff presidential caucuses and four years since his failed 2008 bid. Paul's sharp criticism of government spending and U.S. monetary policy hasn't changed since then. And while his isolationist brand of foreign policy may be a non-starter for some establishment Republicans, its appeal among independents is helping Paul gain ground in a ...

NASCAR Waves the Green Flag, Focuses on Environment

Over the past six decades, one of the most-watched sports in the world has stayed true to its core values: burning high-octane fuel in old-school carbureted V8 engines and keeping fans entertained. Now, NASCAR is going green – and their initial forays have proved successful. Over the past racing season, which ends this Sunday in Miami, NASCAR has used an ethanol blend called Sunoco Green E15. Offering a slight 6 to 8 horsepower gain over straight gasoline, ethanol is produced in the U.S. and, according to Brian France, the Chairman and CEO of NASCAR, the industry employs hundreds of thousands of US workers. Congress Looking to Declare Pizza Is a Vegetable for School Lunches
Post Date: 2011-11-18 16:22:45 by A K A Stone

The U.S. Congress is looking to vote on an appropriations bill that, among other things, will revise the guidelines set for federally-funded school lunch programs. In a move eerily similar to the “ketchup is a vegetable” rules in the ’80s, the new guidelines will allow frozen pizzas to be classified as a vegetable when determining the nutritional balance of a meal. The crux of the matter is that school districts who sign on for the funding can use the guidelines as the minimum requirements when putting out their lunch programs for bid. Schools tend to be cash-strapped these days, so the federal funding is an important part of their budget, and taking the lowest bid saves money. It ...

‘Going Galt’: Hedge Broker Shuts Down Firm With Chilling Letter About the Market

Ann Barnhardt describes herself as a an “an old-school commercial hedge broker specializing in CATTLE and GRAIN.” And she just shut down her business by delivering a passionate and chilling open letter posted on her website. “I could no longer tell my clients that their monies and positions were safe in the futures and options markets – because they are not,” she writes. And then she unloads: Everything changed just a few short weeks ago. A firm, led by a crony of the Obama regime, stole all of the non-margined cash held by customers of his firm. Let’s not sugar-coat this or make this crime seem “complex” and “abstract” by drowning ...

PETA Says Anti-Turkey Eating Billboards To Go Up Near Schools A new Thanksgiving ad campaign targeted toward children in schools is barking up some controversy this holiday season. In a news release, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals announced this week that its new outdoor billboard advertising campaign will focus around a central message: "How would children feel if Fido and Fluffy were stuffed and roasted for Thanksgiving?" The ads feature the head of a Jack Russell terrier on the body of a turkey, and reads, "Kids: If You Wouldn't Eat Your Dog, Why Eat a Turkey?" The group said the billboards are going up near schools in Oklahoma, Oregon, Florida, ...

BOSTON -- The nonprofit organization that oversees the site of the Occupy Boston encampment wants the protesters out. The chairwoman of the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy’s board says in a Tuesday letter to Mayor Thomas Menino that demonstrators have prevented the general public from enjoying Dewey Square Park and forced the cancelation of other events scheduled for the site, including an Oct. 15 food festival. The Boston Globe reports that Chairwoman Georgia Murray also wrote that sanitary conditions have worsened, farmers selling food in the area have seen sales decline because of "noise, odors, and interference" from demonstrators, and the camp has shown ...

Sen. Rand Paul claims asthma and air pollution have no link

It was a startling claim: Air pollution has no connection to asthma, Kentucky GOP Sen. Rand Paul said on the Senate floor. But Paul, and a chart he used to make his case against the health benefits of a new federal air pollution rule, relied on some creative sourcing and pseudoscience. Paul's chart was a graph showing air pollution declining in California as the number of people diagnosed with asthma rose. The chart attributed the data to a May 2003 paper by what was then called the California Department of Health Services. But the department never plotted the relationship between those two factors. The real source was a 2006 paper "Facts Not Fear on Air Pollution" from ...

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa- The KCRG-Gazette-Iowa State University poll of more than 1200 registered Iowa voters came out Thursday. Three candidates took nearly two-thirds of the overall vote. Herman Cain was at the top, with 24.5 percent. Not far behind, Texas Representative Ron Paul. Mitt Romney took about 16 percent. All other candidates polled in the single digits. When asked for a second choice, voters picked “can’t decide” more than 20 percent of the time, leaving a large gap of uncertainty in the race. In a somewhat surprising twist, Herman Cain polled better among women than other candidates in the poll. The results gathered during rampant criticism of Cain for sexual ...

Herman Cain's Secret Service Request Prompted by Journalist Skirmishes

Herman Cain, who's security team manhandled multiple reporters recently, became the first GOP candidate to receive Secret Service protection in this election cycle--and Cain's spokesman, J.D. Gordon said skirmishes with journalists prompted the decision, The Washington Post reported. "Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon said Thursday night that the campaign asked for the protection after The Washington Post posted an article online that morning detailing a series of physical skirmishes involving journalists at Cain rallies." From The Post's take, Gordon's remark could mean "we needed protection from aggressive journalists" or "we needed protection for ...

Town Uses Federal Funds to Buy Chevy Volts

Every once in a while I come across an article that sheds light on what a boondoggle the green initiatives of the Obama Administration are. The latest evidence comes as General Motors tries to prove high consumer demand for the Chevy Volt as it tries to meet its goal of 10,000 vehicles sold in 2011. The Orlando Sentinel reports that the town of DeLand, FL is buying five Chevy Volts. That is not the disturbing part of the story. The article reports that the town is using taxpayer money it has received from a $1.2 million federal grant that is earmarked partially to help with the purchase of alternative-fuel vehicles and other energy-efficient upgrades, including electrical charging stations ...

'Sky Worm' Drone Readies for US Military Flight Tests (airship drone)

Drones and satellites dominate the U.S. military's surveillance arsenal, but fleets of unmanned airships could soon join in keeping an eye on battlefields. One robotic airship contender, the modular Argus One, has upcoming flight demonstrations scheduled at a U.S. Department of Energy Nevada Test Site that hosted nuclear bomb tests during the Cold War. The Argus One's design resembles a segmented sky worm made of connecting modules, and has the flexibility to quickly change its flight path as it slinks through the sky. It can also carry 30 pounds of surveillance sensors or cameras — true to its name taken from an all-seeing Greek god with 100 eyes. U.S. Department of Defense ...

Contractors Claim Administration Pressed to 'Soften' Job-Loss Estimates From Mining Rule

The Obama administration pressured analysts to change an environmental review to reflect fewer job losses from a proposed regulation, the contractors who worked on the review testified Friday. The dispute revolves around proposed changes to a rule regulating coal mining near streams and other waterways. The experts contracted to analyze the impact of the rule initially found that it would cost 7,000 coal jobs. But the contractors claim they were subsequently pressured to not only keep the findings under wraps but "revisit" the study in order to show less of an impact on jobs. Steve Gardner, president of Kentucky consulting firm ECSI, claimed that after the project team refused ...

House rejects balanced budget proposal

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House has rejected a proposed constitutional amendment that would have forced Congress to balance its budget every year as a way to reverse years of deficit spending. A majority of House members supported the balanced budget measure, but supporters fell short of achieving the two-thirds majority needed to amend the Constitution. Republicans who backed the amendment said it was the only way to get Congress to put its fiscal house in order. Democratic critics said a balanced budget requirement would result in drastic cuts in Medicare and other social programs when economic downturns put the budget out of balance. It was the first House vote on a balanced budget ...

Pelosi accuses Catholics of having 'this conscience thing'

After having some of her behind the scenes shenanigans exposed, Nancy Pelosi has turned to her friends in the MSM to help her with damage control. The effect is something akin to watching what scrambles out after you overturn a large rock. Pelosi sought to defend herself from allegations that she and her husband made millions from insider trading in what the Washington Post calls a wide ranging interview. And she responded to Herman Cain's recent reference to her as "Princess Nancy," calling it clueless: "clueless in that you don't say something like that." Unlike, for instance, when Pelosi charged that, in voting to allow health care providers a conscience ...

A second experiment at the European facility that reported subatomic particles zooming faster than the speed of light -- stunning the world of physics -- has reached the same result, scientists said late Thursday. The "positive outcome of the [second] test makes us more confident in the result," said Fernando Ferroni, president of the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics, in a statement released late Thursday. Ferroni is one of 160 physicists involved in the international collaboration known as OPERA (Oscillation Project with Emulsion Tracking Apparatus) that performed the experiment. While the second experiment "has made an important test of consistency of its ...

CALDWELL, Ohio — He lay in the woods for seven hours, with an elbow shattered by an assailant’s bullet. Lost, covered in his own blood and unsure if the men who hunted him were still nearby, a man from South Carolina hid in the forested hills outside Caldwell until after dark on Nov. 6. Deciding it was safe, he then made a painful 2-mile journey to the nearest farmhouse to call for help. Investigators say he was the lucky one. On Tuesday, they found the body of a man buried in a shallow grave near the site where the other man was attacked. By surviving his ordeal two weeks ago in Noble County, the victim, whose name authorities haven’t released, helped uncover an ...
