WACO, Ga. -- A west Georgia business owner is stirring up controversy with signs he posted on his company's trucks, for all to see as the trucks roll up and down roads, highways and interstates: "New Company Policy: We are not hiring until Obama is gone." "Can't afford it," explained the employer, Bill Looman, Tuesday evening. "I've got people that I want to hire now, but I just can't afford it. And I don't foresee that I'll be able to afford it unless some things change in D.C." Looman's company is U.S. Cranes, LLC. He said he put up the signs, and first posted pictures of the signs on his personal Facebook page, six months ago, ...

BERGHOLZ, Ohio (AP) Authorities raided the compound of a breakaway Amish group in eastern Ohio on Wednesday morning and arrested seven men on federal hate crime charges in hair-cutting attacks against Amish men and women. Among those arrested were the group's leader, Sam Mullet, and three of his sons, said Mike Tobin, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office in Cleveland. Authorities have said several members of the group carried out the attacks in September and October by forcefully cutting the beards and hair of Amish men and women. Cutting the hair is a highly offensive act to the Amish, who believe the Bible instructs women to let their hair grow long and men to grow ...

Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto Cracks Open the Financial Crisis Post Date: 2011-11-21 10:31:54 by lucysmom

Learn the name Catherine Cortez Masto, because she just took a big leap in front of every public servant in the country in terms of restoring faith in government. As Nevada AG, she actually indicted someone for blowing up our housing system. Specifically, she handed down 606 counts of felony or gross misdemeanor indictments on robo-signing against two employees of big bank subcontractor Lender Processing Services. Its pretty clear from the indictment that these are mid-level employees, one level up supervisors of fraud rather than top CEOs. And yet, even if this were as far as it goes, it would still be a big deal. These would be the only charges served involving the housing crisis ...

Occupiers' war on police Post Date: 2011-11-21 00:55:25 by A K A Stone

With police clearing out many of the "Occupy" encampments, one might think that the Obama-approved protests will be over soon. However, at the national convention of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) last weekend, there was talk of how the protests will eventually expand and "take indoor spaces" such as city halls and state capitols, in order to "unite" with "mass movements against state and local budget cuts and in defense of public sector unions." DSA members across the U.S. have been actively participating in the Occupy movement. Such a strategy would put police officers, many of them members of public-sector unions, in a difficult ...

Vandalism, violence, burning and shutting down the nations fifth busiest port werent enough for Occupy Oakland. On Friday, the General Assembly for the group voted unanimously for a coordinated shutdown of ports on the entire West Coast on December 12." According to a statement from Occupy Oakland, this move is in response to coordinated attacks on the occupations and attacks on workers across the nation. We call on each West Coast occupation to organize a mass mobilization to shut down its local port. Democratic Pollsters: Obama Should Abandon Run for Second Term Post Date: 2011-11-20 21:27:34 by A K A Stone

President Obama should abandon his run for a second term and turn over the reins of the Democratic Party to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, two one-time Democratic pollsters wrote in Monday's Wall Street Journal, which appeared online Sunday. Patrick H. Caddell and Douglas E. Schoen argued that just as Harry Truman and Lyndon Johnson decided not to pursue additional runs though they could have, Obama should do the same. (RELATED: Romney's Team: Obama's the Real Flip-Flopper) He should abandon his candidacy for re-election in favor of a clear alternative, one capable not only of saving the Democratic Party, but more important, of governing effectively and in a way ...

Lawmakers from both parties have warned what a disaster the automatic spending cuts would be if the deficit-slashing supercommittee fails to reach a deal in just under three weeks. But the reality is that the so-called trigger might not carry the live round everyone fears. A growing number of lawmakers are already talking about reversing the automatic spending cuts to defense and domestic programs that would go into effect if the supercommittee doesnt find at least $1.2 trillion in deficit cuts by Nov. 23. Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) confirmed Thursday that theyre working on alternative legislation that would scale back the size of cuts ...
Gingrich to Occupy Wall Street: "Go Get a Job Right after You Take a Bath" Post Date: 2011-11-20 18:51:00 by A K A Stone

The movement "starts with the premise that we all owe them everything," said Gingrich. And the movement's sense of entitlement is a "symptom how much the left has collapsed as a moral system in this country, and why you need to reassert something as simple as saying, 'Go get a job right after you take a bath,'" the former speaker of the House concluded. Fred Barnes writes in this week's issue of THE WEEKLY STANDARD that Gingrich has "told friends hes like Richard Nixon, not particularly likable and hated by the press and the left." And here we see Gingrich taking a page from Nixon's playbook. If there was one thing Americans ...
(Sasquatch vs. Nanny State) Bigfoot Takes Free Speech Claim to NH High Court Post Date: 2011-11-20 18:33:13 by A K A Stone

Bigfoot is taking his First Amendment case to New Hampshires top court. When Jonathan Doyle of Keene donned a Bigfoot costume and set out to videotape staged sightings of the fabled ape-like creature on Mount Monadnock two years ago, state park officials put the kibosh on his escapades, saying Doyle and his friends had failed to pay $100 for a special-use permit 30 days in advance and secure a $2 million bond. But such requirements stifle free speech and artistic expression and are too broad to pass constitutional scrutiny, say Doyle and the New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union. Defeated at the trial court level, theyve now climbed to the top of New Hampshires legal ...

(CNN) - Rand Paul, the Kentucky senator who was elected with strong support from the tea party, said Sunday the automatic cuts that would follow a super committee failure may be the only way for Congress to reach a debt-cutting deal. Automatic cuts (sequestration) are sort of like telling your children that, you know, if you don't clean up your mess, or else, Paul said on CNNs State of the Union. Maybe we need the or else because Congress isn't behaving the way they should be behaving. Maybe sequestration is our only way we will get any kind of cuts, Paul said. Paul said the major cuts to budget of the Department ...

The secret proposal has been revealed in a memo obtained by the MSNBC program 'Up with Chris Hayes'. First, there was Michele Bachmann, then Rick Perry, and most recently, Herman Cain: each competing to supplant Mitt Romney as
the GOP front-runner, and each, in succession, falling by the wayside. Now
it's former House speaker Newt Gingrich's turn to try to
galvanize the GOP's Tea Party base, while reaching out to embrace party
moderates, concerned, above all, with their candidate's "electability." Can Gingrich succeed where his
predecessors haven't?
The answer, I would argue, is a qualified yes. Newt is a more serious threat, and he's liable to give Romney -- and if he's actually nominated, ...
