Rainier Ehrhardt Republican presidential candidate former House Speaker Newt Gingrich speaks during a campaign stop, Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, in Columbia, S.C. For a week or so, Newt Gingrich was riding high in Dubuque, Iowa. His poll numbers were great nationally. In battleground states such as New Hampshire and Florida, he elbowed more credible contenders -- and also Mitt Romney -- aside. There really was a week there when Gingrich was the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination. But that's all over now. In the 2012 Republican race, everyone gets to be the front-runner for a week, and Gingrich has had his week. Now, Gingrich is tumbling. Fast. The attacks ads ...

There are many instances of exemplary customer service, but this isn't one of them. In fact, this might be one of the most reprehensible exchanges in the history of public relations. Here's the gist of the events: Man orders special game controller; man asks company's PR rep where his order is; man becomes frustrated with unprofessional customer service; PR rep insults and belittles customer; customer shares story with Internet; Internet explodes. Here's a little more detail: On Dec. 16, a customer known only as "Dave" began a series of e-mail exchanges with Ocean Marketing, the PR firm that represents N-Control, a maker of modified game controllers for hardcore ...
6 years later, Katrina victims fight FEMA debts Post Date: 2011-12-28 12:37:09 by We The People

(AP) NEW ORLEANS When the Federal Emergency Management Agency mailed out 83,000 debt notices this year to victims of Hurricane Katrina and other 2005 storms, one of the letters showed up in David Bellinger's mailbox. Bellinger, who is blind, needed a friend to read it and break the news that FEMA wants him to pay back more than $3,200 in federal aid he received after Katrina. "I nearly had a stroke," recalls the 63-year-old, who moved to Atlanta after the storm wrecked his New Orleans home. "I'm totally blind. I subsist entirely on a Social Security disability check. If I have to pay this money back, it would pretty much wipe out all the savings I have." ...
Surging in Iowa, Ron Paul Takes His Turn as Rivals' Punching Bag Post Date: 2011-12-28 12:05:15 by We The People

For months, Ron Paul was by turns ignored, tolerated and occasionally even praised by his opponents in the Republican presidential race. But with the libertarian-leaning candidate surging to the front of the field in Iowa with less than a week to go before the caucuses, Paul's extensive record of outside-the-GOP-mainstream comments and views is coming under withering attack by his competitors. While some of his fellow Republicans have practically adopted his unwavering criticism of the Federal Reserve and Washington's spending habits over the course of the campaign, they are picking apart other aspects of his record -- in particular singling out his foreign policy views as ...

Cheetah, the chimpanzee that appeared in Tarzan movies in the early 1930s, has died of kidney failure at the age of 80, WTSP TV reports. The Suncoast Primate Sanctuary in Palm Harbor, Fla., says the community "has lost a dear friend and family member" with the death of Cheetah on Dec. 24. Sanctuary outreach director Debbie Cobb tells The Tampa Tribune that the chimp was outgoing, loved finger-painting and liked to see people laugh. Cobb says Cheetah came to the sanctuary from the estate of Johnny Weissmuller, former American Olympic gold medal swimmer who played Tarzan in the 1930s. Cheetah played Tarzan's comic sidekick from 1932 to 1934, the sanctuary tells WTSP. Ron ...
U.S. Criticizes Japan, China on Currencies Post Date: 2011-12-28 00:51:44 by A K A Stone

The Obama administration again declined to label China a currency manipulator, while it criticized Japan's efforts to limit the yen's appreciation. The Treasury Department, in its overdue semiannual currency report, offered its most direct criticism to date of Japan's two latest currency interventions, which the U.S. didn't support. The move could complicate any further attempts by Tokyo to intervene in currency markets. Treasury also said in the report, released Tuesday, that it would continue to press Beijing for greater exchange-rate flexibility, as well as to level the playing field for foreign companies and to shift China's economy away from export-led growth. In ...
Romney: Gingrich Like 'Lucille Ball at Chocolate Factory' Post Date: 2011-12-27 19:25:42 by A K A Stone

As he sought to consolidate his strong support in New Hampshire before heading to Iowa, Mitt Romney opted on Tuesday for mockery over menace in criticizing Newt Gingrich, even as his GOP presidential rival denounced Romney's attack ads and record as Massachusetts' governor. Appearing in Portsmouth, Romney noted a statement that Gingrichs campaign director compared the former House speakers recent inability to qualify for the Virginia ballot as a setback comparable to Pearl Harbor from which the campaign would recover. (CAMPAIGN 2012: Gingrich, Perry Fail to Qualify for Virginia Primary) I think he compared that to Pearl Harbor? I think its more like ...
Newt Gingrich Would Rather Obama Get Reelected Then Support Ron Paul for President. Post Date: 2011-12-27 19:12:50 by A K A Stone

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich says he couldn't vote for rival Ron Paul if he were to become the GOP's presidential nominee. Gingrich sharply criticized Paul in an interview with CNN for what he said were "racist, anti-Semitic" comments in newsletters that carried Paul's name in the 1990s. Paul says he didn't write the newsletters or even read them. Gingrich says there will come a morning when people won't take Paul as a serious person. The former House speaker also calls Paul's total record, one of, in his words, "systemic avoidance of reality." But Gingrich also said voting for the Texas congressman ...

Want the job? Gotta attend a 'gay' parade Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 12/22/2011 4:05:00 AM A Planned Parenthood group in New York isn't only hiring children to promote the group's sex agenda, but to do something else that is causing concern in that state. The Planned Parenthood program for which the youngsters are hired is called "Seriously Talking About Responsible Sex" (STARS). Duane Motley of New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms tells OneNewsNow his group had no idea of all the facts behind the abortion-provider's use of teens. He says the idea that teens are being hired to spread the philosophy of Planned Parenthood is absurd. "They [the ...

The former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Texas governor, Rick Perry, have both failed to qualify for the Virginia primary ballot, Republican party officials have said. Neither politician, who were both frontrunners for the US presidential candidacy for the GOP, submitted enough signatures from registered voters to stand for the state's Republican primary on 6 March. The Republican party in Virginia (RVP) announced the news early on Saturday on its Twitter account. "After verification, RPV has determined that Newt Gingrich did not submit required 10K signatures and has not qualified for the Va primary," it said. Perry's rejection was revealed late on Friday. This ...

Can Congress Subpoena Judges? Posted by Leon H. Wolf (Diary) I have to confess at the outset that I am at a loss to explain the hyperventilation in some quarters about Newt Gingrichs remarks in Saturday nights debate that he would subpoena federal judges to testify before Congress. I dont really want to get sidetracked in a discussion of whether such a move would be a good idea, politically (it would almost certainly not, as evidenced by the fact that it is never done), my only beef is with the suggestion that it literally could not be done. In other words, to some extent this is probably the sort of discussion that only a soul-sucking lawyer fascinated by the question ...

Is War With Syria Imminent? White House Press Release Post Date: 2011-12-22 21:58:35 by A K A Stone

For Immediate Release December 21, 2011 Statement by the Press Secretary on Syria The United States continues to believe that the only way to bring about the change that the Syrian people deserve is for Bashar al-Assad to leave power. The words of the Assad regime have no credibility when they continue to be followed by outrageous and deplorable actions. Only two days following the Assad regimes decision to sign the Arab League initiative, they have already flagrantly violated their commitment to end violence and withdraw security forces from residential areas. The United States is deeply disturbed by credible reports that the Assad regime continues to indiscriminately kill scores of ...
CNN Poll: Ron Paul Most Popular Republican Amongst Non-Whites [So much for the “racist” smear] Post Date: 2011-12-22 15:40:08 by Capitalist Eric

While the establishment media continues to hype a 15-year-old story concerning decades old newsletters as part of a dirty tricks campaign to smear Ron Paul as a racist, the latest CNN poll shows that Paul has the most support from non-whites out of all the Republican candidates. The latest CNN/ORC poll released Tuesday finds that Congressman Paul scores highest amongst minorities when matched up against Barack Obama in a hypothetical election head to head. Paul scores 25% of the vote amongst non-whites, whereas Romney polls at 20% and Gingrich gets 15%. Ron Paul is clearly the most popular GOP contender amongst non-whites out of the entire field, suggesting that the racist ...

Ron Paul is surging in Iowa. In polls of Hawkeye State Republican voters, Rep. Paul has jumped from about 12 percent support on Dec. 12 to 21.7 percent support today, according to the RealClearPolitics rolling average. With Newt Gingrichs Iowa support collapsing, Paul is suddenly the GOP frontrunner there and the caucuses are only two weeks away. Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, signs an autograph for a supporter during a campaign stop in Manchester, N.H., Monday. President Obama's former shadow, so-called body man Reggie Love, now has a new job in the spotlight: promoting his former boss's re-election campaign.
What's more, he's telling secrets. As in urging supporters to hurry up and enter the $3 raffle for a campaign dinner with Obama and first lady Michelle Obama. He calls the event a rare and special moment that any presidential fan should jump at a chance at.

"You should know this practically never happens," he writes in a campaign E-mail we just received. "While Barack wants to do these dinners throughout his campaign, I know that dinner with Barack and Michelle is something that usually ...

Air Force veteran and presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul. R-Texas, has opened up a new line of attack against former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga.
Interviewed by Megyn Kelly on Fox News Channel, Paul was responding to the negative ads he’s running against Gingrich when he added, “you know, there was one other issue that I personally found annoying is that he’s probably as aggressive with the military as anybody. He supports all the wars in the Middle East a thousand times more than I would. But, you know when, in the 1960′s when I was drafted in the military, you know, he got several deferments. He chose ...

ASHLAND, N.H. -- Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney says he would deport President Barack Obama's uncle, who police said was arrested in August for drunken driving near Boston and is an illegal immigrant. In an interview with Boston radio host Howie Carr on Wednesday, Romney said "yes" when asked if Onyango Obama should be deported. Romney at first did not recognize the name, but said the nation's immigration laws should be enforced. Onyango Obama is the 67-year-old half-brother of the president's late father. His case is pending in Framingham, Mass., District Court. He was initially held without bail on a detainer from U.S. Immigration and Customs ...

Open Letter to 'The Republican Establishment' – What the Military and Mainstream Knows About Ron Paul that You Should Learn Post Date: 2011-12-21 12:43:12 by Capitalist Eric

Ron Pauls surge to the top of the polls in Iowa, and increasing likelihood that he will win is causing angst among many of you "Establishment Republicans". You are quick to try and dismiss a potential win as some sort of fluke, or owing to Independents registering to vote for him. Your typical argument against him is that "Ron Paul is too far out of the mainstream", and that his rise in the polls could be bad for Iowas standing as the first caucus and bad for the Republican party. Lets address the idea that Ron Paul is out of the mainstream, and by implication, unelectable. Divide Ron Pauls positions into domestic and foreign policy. ...
