NBC News reported that a northern Virginia woman was killed when a tree fell on her house. The storms followed a day of record high temperatures in the area. Most Republican lawmakers have been careful to say that they respect the Supreme Court even while disagreeing with its affirmation of President Barack Obama’s health law.

I fear that even if the Supreme Court overrules most of Obamacare (or did already, by the time you read this), Republicans will join Democrats in restoring "good" parts of the law, like the requirement that insurance companies cover kids up to age 26 and every American with a pre-existing condition. Those parts of Obamacare are popular. People like getting what they think is free stuff. But requiring coverage to age 26 makes policies cost more. Ruben Moreno Sanchez pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court to possession with intent to distribute fifty grams or more of the drug. Boise police say Moreno was contacted last August by a bail bondsman seeking an outstanding bond balance. They say Moreno claimed he was planning on selling a pound of meth stashed at his motel room to cover the tab. The current income tax rate structure was put in place by Title I of the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 (EGTRRA). EGTRRA is scheduled to sunset on January 1, 2013.
