Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio defeated his Republican challenger Josh Mandel on Tuesday night. The Democratic senator faced an onslaught of outside campaign spending from conservative groups like Crossroads GPS, which spent more than $6 million on the Ohio race. The race was dominated by outside spending for both candidates. More than $16.6 million was spent to oppose Brown, while only about $2.2 million was spent in his favor. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's California home was burglarized on Monday, according to the U.S. Capitol Police and the Napa County Sheriff's Office.. Napa County officers responded just before 3 p.m. Monday after being contacted by an alarm company monitoring Pelosi's home near St. Helena, about 60 miles north of San Francisco. They found two broken doors – one to the house and one to an adjacent pool house – Capt. Tracey Stuart of the Napa County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday in a phone interview. CLEVELAND - The door has officially shut on early voting in Ohio, while we won’t know the results of those early ballots until shortly after the polls close at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night, we can look at the numbers to see who voted and who hasn’t.
First off, fewer people voted early in-person in Cuyahoga County this year compared to four years ago, off about 9,000 votes or 16.6 percent.
While much has been made about the reduced hours and lost weekend voting this year, the numbers remained on a pace ahead of 2008 heading into the final week, but trailed off dramatically over the last seven days.
