Sen. Ted Cruz is the favorite in his home state of Texas for Republicans in 2016, a new poll finds, but any Republican might have a close general election race with Hillary Clinton. Cruz led all potential candidates for the 2016 GOP primary by at least 12 percentage points, picking up the support of 27 percent of those surveyed in Public Policy Polling’s new poll. Americans consider blacks more likely to be racist than whites and Hispanics in this country. Thirty-seven percent (37%) of American Adults think most black Americans are racist, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Just 15% consider most white Americans racist, while 18% say the same of most Hispanic Americans. (To see survey question wording, click here.) There is a huge ideological difference on this topic. A Georgia man who broke his neck when he dove into a shallow creek to save a 4-year-old girl from drowning earlier this month died from his injuries on Friday, his family said. Michael Patterson, 43, broke his neck in three places on June 8 when he dove headfirst into a shallow creek in Rockmart to try to save toddler Javea Jones, whom he did not know. He had been spending Saturday at the creek with his 9-year-old son, Cole, when he heard the girl scream for help and dove in. The boy witnessed the accident. Authorities have discovered a large cache of automatic weapons, explosives and even a tank at the New York home of a survivalist who may have killed himself on Tuesday night. Carmel Police on Thursday were forced to evacuate a Mahopac neighborhood while investigating the death of 41-year-old Jonathan Orser, a former Marine Corps reservist.
