Tony Clark, the players union chief and himself a designated hitter 101 times during his career, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Monday the topic has come up, independent of us bringing it up. One more reason Rand Paul is toast (my title) Post Date: 2015-04-10 09:31:53 by BobCeleste

As more than a dozen possible 2016 Republican presidential hopefuls take the stage to address the National Rifle Associations Leadership Forum on Friday, one name will notably be missing from the lineup: Sen. Rand Paul. Mr. Paul, a strong gun rights advocate who formally announced his bid for the presidency this week, has not received any formal endorsements or money from the nations largest and most politically potent gun lobby despite his A voting record rating from the NRA. We did not extend an invitation to Sen. Rand Paul, and he didnt request to be invited, said NRA spokeswoman Jennifer Baker, blaming the packed lineup and scheduling ...
Fort Hood shooting victim denied benefits, despite Purple Heart decision Post Date: 2015-04-10 09:20:56 by cranky

EXCLUSIVE: The Obama administration has finally acknowledged that those hurt and killed in the 2009 Fort Hood shootings were victims of terrorism -- and not workplace violence, as it was previously described. But while formal recognition of that is set for Friday, when victims will receive the Purple Heart, it may only be symbolic. Fox News has learned as part of its ongoing investigation of the 2009 terrorist attack that the military, at least in one case, is still denying benefits for injuries sustained in the attack. "I think it's almost unheard of for someone to receive the Purple Heart but not have their injuries deemed combat-related," Shawn Manning, who ...

A Texas woman has accused a cop of beating her when she was 38 weeks pregnant. Thanks to a surveillance system in her parents home, a video has been published online that appears to prove her allegations. An investigation is under way. The Hunt County sheriffs deputy has been identified as one of several officers who stood in the womans home in Quinlan on the evening of March 4. Two officers can be seen keeping Deanna Robinson in the corner of her kitchen, next to the counter, restraining her, as her 18-month-old toddler watched. Next, the deputy can clearly be seen taking at least two quick punches at Robinson, who wouldnt stop yelling. This was after she ...

Stay away, Rev. Al. That was the message from the family of South Carolina police shooting victim Walter Scott to the civil rights activist Thursday two days before the funeral for the slain father of four. We dont want another Ferguson type of circus here, a source close to the Scott family told The Daily News. That was a reference to the Missouri town that was rocked by violent demonstrations last year after black teen Michael Brown was killed by a white cop. Sharpton gave a rousing speech at the 18-year-olds funeral, which was attended by thousands. Scott family attorney Chris Stewart said they appreciate Sharptons support but the funeral is ...

Southern California Edison IT layoffs cited by lawmakers Ten U.S. senators, representing the political spectrum, are seeking a federal investigation into displacement of IT workers by H-1B-using contractors. They are asking the U.S. Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security and the Labor Department to investigate the use of the H-1B program "to replace large numbers of American workers" at Southern California Edison (SCE) and other employers. This letter is a significant development in this contentious issue. It arrives at the same time that lawmakers are pushing a substantial increase in H-1B visas under the I-Squared bill, legislation that would raise the ...

While many now identify Ted Cruz 92 as the classic example of a conservative populist politician, few still remember a time in his life when he seem destined for the ivory tower or understand how someone so committed to the life of the mind became a grassroots phenomenon. Cruz had already begun thinking about the topic of his senior thesis while he was a freshman, his roommate and debate team partner David Panton 92 said. He was 17, Panton said. Not too many 17-year-olds were thinking about their thesis their freshman year first of all, and also writing about two relatively unknown, orthodox amendments of the constitution. He was very focused, very ...

An associate of the Texas senator, a recently announced presidential candidate, tells Bloomberg that a cluster of affiliated super-political action committees was formed only this week, and among them they are expected to have $31 million in the bank by Friday. Even in the context of a presidential campaign cycle in which the major party nominees are expected to raise more than $1.5 billion, Cruzs haul is eye-popping, one that instantly raises the stakes in the Republican fundraising contest. Although super-PACs have radically changed the pace at which committees backing presidential ...

A security officer at the Boulder Transit Center alerted his superiors today after finding a foot-long plastic pipe that was capped at both ends near the bike racks, which he presumed to be a pipe bomb. Concerned the device could go up in smoke, the Regional Transportation District (RTD) ordered an immediate evacuation of the station and closed nearby streets. A keen police sergeant was eventually able to identify the device as a water pipe, or bong, filled with a leafy green substance. It was some ...

I write frequently about guns on this website, and I get more feedback in comments, on Twitter, in my email for those articles than I do for any other subject. I get called an idiot. I get asked the same questions over and over. weirdgunBut so far, despite the name-calling, Ive never gotten anything remotely close to a serious threat. Most of the gun rights supporters who contact me disagree strongly, but that doesnt mean theyre dangerous. I just hope no one who disagrees with my belief that we should regulate gun ownership in this country is ever angry enough to add me to this app: An app in the Google Play Store called Gunfree Geo Marker ...
