Happy 4th of July, the day where Americans celebrate imaginary freedom, and police departments nationwide make millions of dollars violating the rights of nonviolent individuals. Under the pretense of catching drunk drivers, police will be patrolling the streets and setting up checkpoints all over the country this weekend. In some cases they will arrest drunk drivers, in others they will search and arrest nonviolent drug offenders, while other people may get citations for problems with their vehicle or registration. Especially for people who havent even done anything wrong, these checkpoints are a gross violation of privacy and other natural born rights. Free people should not be ...

Today is the day we celebrate our Independence from England, the day we celebrate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress. Declaring that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and no longer part of the British Empire. In Romans chapter 13:1-6 we read: 1 ¶ Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. ...

The image recognition software built into Google Photos is impressive. Show it a photo of the Eiffel Tower, and it will know that picture was taken in Paris. Snap an image of a dog or a tree, and it will automatically put them in a group with all your other pictures of dogs or trees. But the software is far from foolproof. And when it fails, it does so in a spectacular way as when it recently processed a photo of two black friends and labeled them Gorillas. Jacky Alcine, a 21-year old programmer who lives in Brooklyn, N.Y., was checking out his Google Photos account last night when he saw that the service had automatically generated a folder titled ...

A Conservative Firebrand From The Start, Ted Cruz Always Had A Plan Post Date: 2015-07-03 22:32:08 by A K A Stone

This story is part of NPR's series Journey Home. We're going to the places presidential candidates call home and finding out what those places tell us about how they see the world. Boldness comes more naturally to Ted Cruz than compromise. Barely through his first year in the Senate, the Texas Republican bucked his party leaders and became the public face of a government shutdown while standing up for conservative ideals. Rewind three decades back, and you'd find Cruz selling a similar message as a teenager in Houston. You could say Cruz ran with a gang in high school. Their colors were blue jacket, white shirt, red tie. They called themselves the Constitutional Corroborators. ...

(SarahMcGowen)It pays to read everything carefully or rather, you might not have to pay a fine if youre as sharp-eyed as one Ohio woman. She ended up having a parking citation tossed by an appeals court, all because she noticed there was a comma missing in the local law. As anyone who has ever written a sentence knows, punctuation is of the utmost importance. And in one Ohio village, English teachers are likely sighing and shaking their heads at a grammar mishap involving the local law on parking regulations. The Columbus Dispatch reports that the 12th District Court of Appeals overturned a parking violation [PDF] for a woman living in West Jefferson. Shed been convicted ...

Theyre drooling over this one. All the scenarios theyve been working on converge very neatly if they pull what theyre threatening might happen this Fourth of July weekend. If you listen to these two so-called warnings by these insiders youll hear the same talking points carefully repeated but all based on vague suppositions and strangely weak and no doubt made up facts and statistics. The ex CIA guy goes so far as to say he wont be surprised if next week theyll be sitting there talking about an attack that happened over the weekend, although they both reference multiple attacks, a type of false flag spree weve long ...

It's funny how many times Senator Rand Paul finds himself running away when the topic of immigration reform pops up. Rep. Steve King, one of the most xenophobic Republicans in Congress, recently defended Donald Trump's anti- Mexican rants on CNN. Id say in Donald Trumps defense, someones doing that to these kids that are being raped and abused, King continued. And, when theyre coming across Mexico, its a reasonable assumption to conclude the people doing that are Mexicans. So when Rand Paul was having lunch with Rep. Steve King and an Iowan voter asked if he agreed with Donald Trump and Rep. King on the Mexican rapists ...

When Donald Trump said something not exuberantly enthusiastic about Mexican immigrants, the medias response was to boycott him. One thing they didnt do was produce any facts showing he was wrong. Trump said: When Mexico sends its people, theyre not sending their best. Theyre not sending you. Theyre not sending you. Theyre sending people that have lots of problems, and theyre bringing those problems to us. Theyre bringing drugs. Theyre bringing crime. Theyre rapists. And some, I assume, are good people. The first thing a news fact-checker would have noticed is: THE GOVERNMENT WONT TELL US HOW MANY IMMIGRANTS ARE ...

A US Girl Scouts group has returned a $100,000 cheque after the donor wanted an assurance that the money would not be used to support transgender girls. Megan Ferland, chief executive, said returning the money was "one of the easiest decisions I've had to make. It was a sad decision, but a really quick one," she added. Ms Ferland said while not many participants in their programmes are transgender, it was the principle of the matter which made the decision so straightforward. "Girl Scouts is for every girl. It always has been and always will be," she said. "I could not be put in a position where I would have to turn girls away." Girl Scouts USA, the ...

Outraged by the revolt of the Mytileneans, the frenzied Athenians suddenly assemble and vote to condemn all the adult males on the island, regardless of the role any of them may have played in the revolt.
