According to an unofficial count done by Ozymandias Media, an independent research group, a dog is shot by law enforcement every 98 minutes. In an investigative report, it was discovered that a single police department in Buffalo, NY, shot 92 dogs in less than three years. In Southwest Florida, the News-Press discovered 111 instances of dog shootings among multiple agencies between 2009 and 2012, representing about 37 per year. According to the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Police shot approximately 90 dogs per year between 2008 and 2013. It is an undisputed fact that cops frequently kill dogs. One heroic cop in Round Rock, Texas, however, shattered that paradigm by showing true courage ...

A county clerk in Kentucky has again refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, invoking her religious beliefs and "God's authority" - this time in defiance of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling against her. On Tuesday morning, Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis' office denied the licenses to at least two couples. At first, Davis was in her office with the door closed and blinds drawn. But she emerged a few minutes later, telling the couples and the activists gathered there that her office is continuing to deny the licenses "under God's authority." The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to intervene in the case, leaving Davis no legal grounds to refuse to ...

Armed Black Panther members marched in front of the Waller County jail and shouted, Youre gonna stop doing what youre doing, or we will start creeping up on you in the darkness. The statement was made just two weeks prior to the assassination of a Harris County deputy sheriff. Shannon Miles, a black male, allegedly came creeping up behind Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth in the darkness on the night of August 28. While Goforth stood at a convenience store pumping gas into his patrol vehicle, Miles allegedly raised a pistol and shot him dead. The comments, made by a leader of the Houston-based chapter of the New Black Panther Party, were captured on ...

Economics 102: WalMart Cuts Worker Hours After Hiking Minimum Wages Submitted by Tyler Durden ZeroHedge 08/31/2015 11:20 -0400 This year, some American executives who heeded loud calls for across-the-board wage hikes for Americas lowest-paid workers received a complimentary refresher course in undergrad economics courtesy of the free market. Take Dan Price for instance, the 31-year old CEO of Seattle-based Gravity Payments Systems who found out the hard way that setting the pay floor at $70K comes with all manner of unintended consequences. And then theres Wal-Mart. Earlier this year, the retail behemoth became one of several corporate heavyweights to raise ...

Who is Donald Trump and what does he really stand for? Post Date: 2015-08-31 08:55:28 by BobCeleste

When interviewing those who work for him (or who have or have had business dealings with him) negative stories about Donald Trump are curiously lacking. After all the employees he has had and all of the business deals made, there is an unmistakable lack of criticism. In fact, long term employees call him a strong and compassionate leader and say he has far more integrity and higher moral standards than many people may think. And while it may surprise many, hes actually humble when it comes to his generosity and kindness. A good example is a story that tells of his limo breaking down on a deserted highway outside of New York City. A middle-aged couple stopped to help him and as a ...

White House says Mount McKinley to be renamed Denali Post Date: 2015-08-30 19:03:15 by Justified

WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama will change the name of North America's tallest mountain peak from Mount McKinley to Denali, the White House said Sunday, a major symbolic gesture to Alaska Natives on the eve of the president's historic visit to Alaska. By renaming the peak Denali, an Athabascan word meaning "the high one," Obama waded into a sensitive and decades-old conflict between residents of Alaska and Ohio. Alaskans have informally called the mountain Denali for years, but the federal government recognizes its name invoking the 25th president, William McKinley, who was born in Ohio and assassinated early in his second term. "With our own sense of ...
Donald Trump on George W. Bush's 'best moment' Post Date: 2015-08-30 13:06:43 by buckeroo

Washington (CNN)Everyone has a top memory from the highlight reel of George W. Bush's presidency: Standing on the rubble with a bullhorn at the World Trade Center after September 11. Passing a bill that dedicated billions of dollars for AIDS research. Or the capture of the leader of Iraq, Saddam Hussein. But for Donald Trump, it was something else altogether. "Do you remember when the Iraqi threw the shoe at George W. Bush?" conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt asked the Republican front-runner on Wednesday. "Well, that may have been his best moment, if you want to know the truth, which is pretty sad to say," said Trump. Hewitt told Trump that the 2008 ...

Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) said on Sunday that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is careless for using a private email server at the State Department. No one is above the law, Christie told host Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday. Unfortunately with the Obama administration, there has been lawlessness in this country, said Christie, a 2016 GOP presidential contender. Apparently Hillary Clinton has caught this disease as well. Christie argued on Sunday that Clintons actions as secretary of State flaunted her disregard for the laws governing transparency and national security. He added that she is now presenting a ...

MINNEAPOLIS The Democratic Party, whose presidential race has been mostly overshadowed by Donald Trump and the Republicans, heads into the fall with its nomination contest far less certain than it once appeared and braced for a series of events that will have a significant effect on Hillary Rodham Clintons campaign. Clintons standing has been eroded both by her own shaky handling of the e-mail controversy and by the populist energy fueling the challenge of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). Her weakened position in the polls has stoked talk about a possible late entry from Vice President Biden, which could dramatically change the dynamic of the race. As the Democratic ...

To create a system that tracks illegal immigrants in the United States, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie wants to look to the way FedEx tracks packages. Speaking in the early-voting state of New Hampshire, the GOP presidential candidate on Saturday said the United States needs a way to stop losing track of people who enter the country illegally. "At any moment, FedEx can tell you where that package is. Its on the truck. Its at the station. Its on the airplane," he said, according to NJ.com. "So here's what I'm going to do as president: I'm going to ask Fred Smith, the founder of Federal Express, to come work for the government for three months ...

The Wednesday morning murders of 24-year-old Roanoke TV reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were a racist atrocity, a hate crime. Were they not white, they would be alive today. Their killer, Vester L. Flanagan II (pictured right) said as much in his farewell screed. He ordered his murder weapon, he said, two days after the slaughter of nine congregants at the African- American AME church in Charleston, South Carolina. What sent me over the top was the church shooting, said Flanagan. To be sure, racism does not fully explain why Flanagan, fired from that same WDBJ7 station, committed this act of pure evil. Black and homosexual, he said he was the target of ...

(NEWSER) Subway may have known about spokesperson Jared Fogle's alleged desire to have sex with children since 2008. At least, that's what the former owner of a Subway restaurant in Florida tells Business Insider. Cindy Mills, who was a Subway franchisee from 2006 to 2012, says Fogle started calling her every day after she met him at a company event in 2008. She says he would make inappropriate comments, telling her "he really liked them young." Mills says Fogle told her he'd had sex with child prostitutes, some as young as 9, in both Thailand and the United States and even encouraged her to prostitute herself on Craigslist. Mills says she went to executives ...
