No, The FBI Does Not 'Need' The Info On Farook's iPhone; This Is Entirely About The Precedent

from the stop-saying-that dept Over and over again as people keep talking about the Apple / FBI encryption stuff, I keep seeing the same line pop up. It's something along the lines of "but the FBI needs to know what's on that phone, so if Apple can help, why shouldn't it." Let's debunk that myth. The FBI absolutely does not need to know what's on that phone. It might not even care very much about what's on that phone. As the Grugq ably explained last week, there's almost certainly nothing of interest on the phone. As he notes, Farook destroyed his and his wife's personal phones, indicating that if there were anything truly important, he would have ...

George Bush the First's electoral victory map of 1988: He won California and two-thirds of New England. With South Carolina's Republican primary and Nevada's Democrat caucus behind us, the potential match-ups for November are fast shrinking. On the GOP side, there's a frontrunner, two weakish second-place guys, and a fourth candidate who'll hang in at least until Ohio. The exit-polling suggests Donald Trump is drawing his voters from across all demographic groups and ideological inclinations. If Ben Carson were to pull out, most of his support would go to Trump. If John Kasich were to pull out, most of his support would go to Rubio, but some to Trump. If Rubio were to ...

China is buying up American companies fast, and it's freaking people out Here's a story you'll be hearing about a lot this year. Chinese companies have been buying up foreign businesses — including American ones — at a record rate, and it's freaking out lawmakers. There is General Electric's sale of its appliance business to Qingdao-based Haier, Zoomlion's bid for the heavy-lifting-equipment maker Terex Corporation, and ChemChina's record-breaking deal for the Swiss seeds and pesticides group Syngenta, valued at $48 billion. Most recently, a unit of the Chinese conglomerate HNA Group on Wednesday said it would buy the technology distributor Ingram ...

Prison Town Selling Its Jails to Grow Cannabis to Save their Economy — And It’s Working

By Justin Gardner A tiny California desert town is making a drastic change to reverse its downward spiral and embrace an enlightened future. For 24 years, Adelanto tried unsuccessfully to sustain its economy through prisons, but now it will be hosting a very different kind of business—cannabis cultivation. The town became only the second city in California to permit commercial cultivation of medical cannabis, after a year of heated debate in the City Council. The persistence of John “Bug” Woodard, Jr. paid off in a 4-1 vote on Nov. 23 to allow cultivation. “I had nothing to lose,” said Woodard. “The city could not get in any worse shape than it was. It was ...

Livingston County, MI — In June of last year, Tim Panagis, 26, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, was on a bike ride with friends when he was unlawfully stopped, harassed and ticketed by a would-be tyrant with the Michigan State Police. The Trooper, who remains unnamed, apparently had nothing better to do that day than to harass an innocent biker. The entire interaction was caught on the officer’s dashcam. As the dashcam video begins, we see the trooper following behind four bikers as the ride down the road. The irate trooper then pulls over Panagis for allegedly impeding traffic. Upon exiting his patrol car, the trooper becomes immediately aggressive and launches a verbal assault. Scolding ...

Germantown, WI — An incredible story from Friday morning starts out with a black lab named John Boy, approaching a police officer. Germantown police officer, Jeff Gonzalez deserves credit for not only refusing to do what so many other cops do when dogs approach them, but actually getting out in the freezing weather to see why this dog was loose. “He stood there and barked a little bit, then I rolled down my window and called to him. Then he wagged his tail and got more friendly until I got out of my car. And then he ran a little bit,” said Gonzalez. John Boy was seemingly trying to get the officer’s attention in an effort to help his owner. “Yeah, he sure did. He ...

Dear Mr. Donald John Trump; Your support among veterans is starting to dwindle due to your refusal to acknowledge their emails. Why have veterans@donaldtrump.com if he never even acknowledges having received them. What you, Mr. Donald John Trump need to understand is that many Vets are tired of being lied to, used like two bit whores , ignored and discarded by the Republican party. Donald, you said you opened an email address just for us, but not one vet I know of ever get's any sort of acknowledgment that there is anyone even opening them up. Valerie Jarrett is the Poster Girl for Chicago’s Pension Crisis
Post Date: 2016-02-20 11:09:03 by Stoner

The City of Chicago is being fiscally devoured by pension obligations run up by politicians buying votes. Even with a record $543 million property tax increase, the city’s $20 billion debt to its pension funds will continue to grow for at least a decade. Pension costs overwhelm the city’s ability to deliver any actual services, and the tax increases necessary to pay for both services and pensions predictably could drive away businesses and residents, leaving behind another Detroit. All of this abstract accounting talk doesn’t really help people grasp the nature of the looting going on in this Democrat stronghold. If only there were a way to follow Alinsky’s Rule #13: ...

Sheriff Blocks Feds From Harassing Raw Milk Farmer: “Stem the Tide of Federal Overreach”

While many are still reeling from the outrageous shooting of LaVoy Finicum, and the aftermath of the Oregon standoff and arrest of patriots linked to it, there are other battles against the feds taking place across the country. Much less attention was paid to Sheriff Brad Rogers, of Elkhart County in Indiana, who just successfully concluded his own showdown with federal officials from the FDA. The scenario was quite different, but the principals involved strike a similar chord – burdensome overreach and tyranny on the part of the federal government and its swarm of agents. As activists have seen in many other cases, the FDA has gone after raw milk farmers and raw food proponents with ...

Scalia could have been poisoned: forensic pathologist

Lethal poisoning could have left Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s body in virtually the same condition in which it was found, a top forensic pathologist told The Post on Wednesday. “It would look like he’s asleep. It doesn’t show anything on the body,” said Dr. Michael Baden, who spent 25 years in the city’s chief Medical Examiner’s Office. Still, Baden stressed that natural causes was a plausible explanation.

All of the color has bled from the face of Jeb! 2016. The campaign is bedridden, confused, moaning in agony. At this point, the best thing for Jeb Bush and everyone around him would be to let his candidacy die with dignity. In Nevada, Jeb Bush has become the candidate of the one percent — literally, he has one percent of the vote there. In Quinnipiac’s most recent national poll he’s at 4 percent, which puts him in a tie for last place with Ben Carson, who barely has a campaign and spent much of a nationally televised town hall Wednesday night talking about bear attacks. Several polls of this Saturday’s South Carolina primary have the former Florida governor in the ...

Scalia murder cover-up begins to unravel: Intelligence officers and high ranking police publicly question his untimely death

As questions surrounding the untimely death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia continue to mount, multiple highly credible officials have publicly raised concerns over the very real possibility that foul play was involved. At the same time vast portions of the mainstream liberal media are conducting a massive psychological operation on the American people, desperately trying to confuse and misinform the masses about one of the most important stories in decades. This fact alone should lead to heightened suspicions over Scalia’s death for anyone aware of the power and control wielded by the mainstream press. Add this to the actual evidence that has emerged and we ...

The woman seeking America’s top job is getting a boost from the world’s oldest profession. Ahead of the Nevada Democratic caucuses this weekend, a group of sex workers operating under the name Hookers for Hillary is going all in for Hillary Clinton’s campaign – touting her positions on health care and other issues. According to The Guardian, brothel owner Dennis Hof and the girls at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch launched the pro-Clinton project shortly after she entered the race. In interviews with the newspaper, they described their support as an endorsement of Clinton’s efforts to combat domestic violence as well. And one simply described it as a case of women ...

An Iraq war veteran whose bravery inspired two statues says he was beaten by a group of teens in Washington, DC on Friday night after they approached and asked him whether 'black lives matter'. Chris Marquez, 30, a decorated US Marine veteran, was eating in a McDonald's when the youths walked up and started questioning him, WJLA reported. 'I felt threatened and thought they were trying to intimidate me, so I figured I'm just going to keep to my food, eat my food and hopefully they'll leave me alone,' Marquez told the station. The youths started calling him a racist, he said, but it was when he tried to leave the restaurant that things went badly for him. ...

Let’s jump right in with quotes from the Washington Post, 2/15, “Conspiracy theories swirl around the death of Antonin Scalia”. The Post published extraordinary statements from the Facebook page of “William O. Ritchie, former head of criminal investigations for D.C. police”: “As a former homicide commander, I am stunned that no autopsy was ordered for Justice Scalia.” “You have a Supreme Court Justice who died, not in attendance of a physician. You have a non-homicide trained US Marshal tell the justice of peace that no foul play was observed. You have a justice of the peace pronounce death while not being on the scene and without any medical training ...

50-Year-Old Man Cures Lung Cancer With Cannabis Oil, Stuns CBS News

By Amanda Froelich Not too long ago, a 50-year-old man from Illinois was diagnosed with “incurable inoperable” lung and pericardial heart sac cancer. The doctors told him he had about a year to live, but could opt to undergo chemotherapy to extend his life. As you may or may not know, the survival rate of lung cancer is incredibly grim. It is estimated that the prognosis for Stage IA non-small cell lung cancer is less than 50%. Sadly, this drops as the cancer progresses. For a Stage IV patient, the likelihood of recovery is 1%. Aware of the odds against him, patient Darren Miller decided to supplement his chemotherapy treatments with cannabis oil. Clearly, he didn’t just want ...

An 85-year-old Jackson man shot in the back of the head while he was doing yard work on Saturday was a Korean War veteran, one of eight children, and a beloved father. Jackson police said James Harrell Hankins was doing dirt work in his yard on McCluer Road when he was approached by a black male wearing dark-colored clothing. Police said the suspect fired several shots, then fled the scene on foot, headed toward Valley Park Subdivision. Hankins was found by Tip, his wife of almost 61 years, who heard a pop and thought it might be her crock pot. Friends said she saw him out the window and ran outside. He was pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday. "He was honest, hard working, ...

Sen. Ted Cruz on Monday said Donald Trump's openness to the idea of impeaching President George W. Bush for the Iraq war was "an extreme and radical position." Speaking to reporters ahead of a rally in Aiken, South Carolina, Cruz went after Trump's comments from the CBS News GOP presidential debate on Saturday night in which he attacked the former president. "On Saturday, one of the strangest moments was when Donald Trump repeatedly attacked George W. Bush and defended his position seeking to impeach George W. Bush," Cruz said Monday. "Now, when he was arguing for the impeachment of George W. Bush, that was not a reasonable position. That was an extreme ...
