KNOXVILLE - (KNOXVILLE) Authorities have charged an Oak Ridge woman with first-degree murder in the death of her almost 3-month old daughter after the infant died in April of a drug overdose. Heather Renee Keylon, 31, was arrested and booked into the Knox County Jail on Saturday. She is being held in lieu of $1 million bond. Keylon faces six counts, including felony murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect, in the death of her daughter, Skylar Brewer, according to a Knox County grand jury indictment returned March 8. A U.S. Navy Blue Angel crashed shortly after takeoff, killing the pilot, during an air show practice on Thursday in Smyrna, Tenn., a Navy official said. According to Navy spokeswoman Cmdr. Jeanette Groeneveld, the F/A-18 single-seat jet crashed while in formation. The Navy has notified the pilot’s next of kin and will not release the name or aircraft number for 24 hours. The F/A-18 crashed at approximately 4:01 p.m. eastern time. HOLLAND, MI -- A Benton Harbor man has been convicted of driving under the influence of marijuana when he caused a Holland Township crash that killed a passenger in his car. A jury this week found Kenyada Hornes, 37, guilty of operating while intoxicated causing death, following a two-day trial. The crash killed 26-year-old Nickie Thomas, of Benton Harbor. AUBURN -- A police officer in central Massachusetts was shot and killed early Sunday morning during a routine traffic stop. The suspect involved is the shooting is also dead. Police said Officer Roland Tarantino, 42, was shot by the occupant of a vehicle he pulled over around 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Rochdale Street in Auburn, CBS Boston reports. Officer Tarantino was taken to UMass Medical Center in Worcester and later died. The suspect, Jorge Zambrano, 35, was killed after a standoff with police in an Oxford home. There was a significant drop in the number of officers killed on-duty in 2015 compared to the spike the previous year. The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced on Monday that 2015 saw a nearly 20% decrease in officers feloniously killed — from 51 cops killed in 2014 to 41 last year. EAST FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A 16-year-old girl was shot and killed in Brooklyn Tuesday evening while babysitting a cousin. Just before 6 p.m. in the 1400 block of Brooklyn Avenue in East Flatbush, police responded to a call of a gunshot fired on the sixth-floor of the building. Just after midnight, in one of the last shootings of the Memorial Day weekend, two people pulled out guns and started firing in East Garfield Park. The first call to police early Tuesday was for one person shot on Homan Avenue. Then a second victim. Then a third. Then someone walked into a hospital a few minutes later.
