Tennessee Republicans are pushing back against drag shows by expanding upon a bill criminalizing such performances. Republican State Rep. Clay Doggett introduced Tennessee House Bill 30 in January. It bans minors from shows that entail “adult cabaret,” defined as “topless dancers, go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, male or female impersonators who provide entertainment that appeals to prurient interest.” Click for Full Text!

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not have the power to override states that have banned access to the abortion pill, attorneys general in 21 states told a federal judge on Monday. In response to growing encounters of illegals crossing into the United States from Canada, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has reportedly assigned 25 extra Border Patrol agents to a busy area of the northeast border. According to NBC News, some of the agents temporarily reassigned to the northern border were formerly stationed on the southern border. They are now covering the Swanton Sector of the U.S.-Canada border, which encompasses some 24,000 square miles and includes all of the state of Vermont and parts of New York and New Hampshire. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has approved the language of a constitutional amendment aimed at making abortion a right in the state constitution. The amendment will now head to the Ohio Ballot Board, which has 10 days to certify the language. It had been filed by abortion industry giant Planned Parenthood, Pro-Choice Ohio, the Abortion Fund of Ohio, and the American Civil Liberties Union. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced this week that it would crack down on imports of xylazine, a non-opioid veterinary sedative used on animals ranging from dogs and cats to deer and elk. The FDA is targeting the drug because black-market sellers have added it to various illicit fentanyl mixtures; the FDA said it has also turned up mixed with stimulants like cocaine and methamphetamine. If ingested by humans, xylazine "can depress breathing, blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature to critical levels"; if injected, it can cause tissue decay requiring amputation. A judge has ordered the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) to return 13 birds it seized from falconer Holly Lamar. The agency seized the birds and confiscated some of her equipment, days after she filed a complaint against one of its agents for failing to respond to her requests for information for months and giving her conflicting information when the agent did respond.
