Well, this is going to make the weekend's political conversations a little more awkward around America. As the mainstream media (and even the leftist politicians) begin to back quietly away from the "collusion" narrative, they remain increasingly focused on Russia's "evil" efforts at "meddling" in the US election and "interfering with our democracy," or some such hysterical phrase. And that is what makes the comments by mainstay of world-renowned political dissident and liberal-thinking hero Noam Chomsky's comments in the following interview with Democracy Now so 'awkward' for the Trump-hating members of society. Two apparently forged documents could spell a mountain of trouble for Paul Manafort going forward. During his trial in the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA) on Wednesday, multiple vendors took center stage as they were asked about their business relationships with Manafort and the myriad business entities he used to facilitate payments for non-business purposes. After establishing the basic facts of those relationships, Muellers team plowed through and pored over as many documents as Judge T.S. Ellis III would allow in order to show various international wire transfers initiated by those entities to cover the costs of Manaforts jet-set lifestyle. The first vendor up was ...
Finally. A major victory for common sense Post Date: 2018-08-03 09:45:40 by Deckard

In a major victory for common sense, a group of cosmetologists defeated an insanely stupid regulation passed down by the state of Louisiana. Louisiana, just like the other 49 states in the Land of the Free, governs licensing requirements for dozens
hundreds of professions
ranging from athletic trainers to tour guides to barbers and cosmetologists. And most of the time the licensing requirements are just plain idiotic. In Louisiana, for example, the State Board of Cosmetology had formerly required an unbelievable 750 hours of training (which costs thousands of dollars) simply to be able to thread eyebrows. (If youre like me and totally unfamiliar with eyebrow threading, ...

President Donald Trump was lauded by inner-city pastors, including one who said he may go down as the "most pro-black president" in recent history, during a White House roundtable on Wednesday that was focused on efforts to reform the prison system. Trump told the group, which included pastors and bishops from across the country, that his administration has been making progress on efforts to make it easier for prisoners to re-enter society and find work. "When we say hire American, we mean all Americans," Trump said. Among those gathered was Darrell Scott, a black Ohio pastor who was an early supporter of Trump's campaign and has been working with the ...

On Monday evening, the Paramount Networks aired the first part of a six-part documentary series on the death of Trayvon Martin called Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story. If multimedia impresario Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter had chosen to tell it, there was a story to be told here: a story about a boy bounced around among his biological parents and other relatives after his parents' divorce; a story of a boy whose descent into drugs, guns, fighting, and burglary accelerated after his father left his stepmother, Alicia, his "rock," when Trayvon was 15. There was a story to be told of how Trayvon's school shielded him from the criminal justice system much as ...

In the coldness of space, a star explodes. It creates a dazzling shock wave of cloud debris with a magnetic alignment resembling spokes on a cosmic bicycle wheel of light. We here on Earth call it SuperNova 1987A. But the name does not do it justice. It is an unfolding grand orchestra of vibration that ripples over human drama with wild indifference. Turning our eyes to our home, we see Earth. Inside this blue grain of sand and water, creatures are busy. In my home state of Florida, I meet a quiet, determined lady named Nancy Nemhauser to interview on my A Neighbors Choice radio show. She has good news but her face is war-weary. Her town of Mt. Dora, Florida, just a few miles from ...

Progressives are having a hard time understanding that someone with wealth can be progressive, Thanedar has responded. A lot of their concern stems from the fact that Im a businessperson, so how can I be a progressive? And thats where Im seeing a lot of resistance from the establishment. Theyre using every smear they can use to bring me down. But I am who I am.

Trump's Grocery Store Gaffe Matters, but Not for the Reason You Think Post Date: 2018-08-02 05:43:00 by Deckard

Yes, Trump is out of touch with regular life. All presidents are. This one's ignorance is a problem in other ways.Donald Trump is basically gaffe-proof. But that doesn't mean his factual flubs have nothing to tell us about the man or his policies. Take what happened in Tampa Tuesday night. Speaking at a rally, the president freewheeled into a rant about the need for Voter ID laws. This is a pretty mainstream Republican idea. Long before Trump was the party's figurehead, GOP politicians were rattling off the same talking point that Trump hit last night: You have to show ID to buy booze or smokes, you have to show ID before you can board a plane, so why shouldn't you have to ...
