Its strange to find myself an uncle, with a country place and an Orange Barchetta out in the garage. My 1976 Trans-Am.It is a relic from the better, vanished time Rush sang about in their classic Libertarian rock hit of 1981, which was inspired by a short story written in 1973 by Richard S. Foster for Road & Track magazine, about a future in which saaaaaaaaaaaaafety mandates had turned new cars into well, what they are today. Big Brothered, homogenized and no fun.Older cars were banned by The Motor Law.The Barchetta redwood and leather, hot metal and oil and not an air bag to be found is carefully hidden away and kept in full operational ...

The reporters who made this nontroversy a story should be ashamed of themselves.University of Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday. The internet being what it is, some folks on social media apparently took this as an opportunity to go looking for reasons to be outraged, and discovered some homophobic tweets Murray sent when he was in high school. Murray apologized right away, tweeting, "I used a poor choice of word that doesn't reflect who I am or what I believe. I did not intend to single out any individual or group." For some reason, many media outlets decided this little nontroversy demanded a write-up. "As of early Sunday morning, four ...

Adolescent Pot Use in Post-Legalization Colorado and Washington Is Still Failing to Rise Post Date: 2018-12-10 05:08:15 by Deckard

A favorite prohibitionist theme is refuted by reality. The recent, laughably bad Centennial Institute report on marijuana legalization in Colorado talks a lot about the impact of cannabis consumption on high school students. In fact, lost productivity due to marijuana-related high school dropouts is the biggest component of the costs it erroneously attributes to legalization. Yet conspicuously missing from the report is any claim that legalization led to an increase in marijuana use by teenagers, a popular theme among pot prohibitionists. The omission is understandable in light of survey data showing that rates of marijuana use among middle and high school students in Colorado and ...
The Speeding Exemption (Some Animals are More Equal than Others) Post Date: 2018-12-09 10:13:41 by Deckard

In Orwells other book Animal Farm we read about a mutiny against the farmer by the livestock, who draw up a kind of Declaration of Rights premised on the idea that all animals are equal. This is painted on the side of the barn for all to admire. Over time (and in the dead of night) caveats and exemptions are inserted by the pigs culminating in the new idea that some animals are more equal than others. The pigs begin wearing clothes, sleep inside the farmhouse while the other animals sleep outside or in the unheated barn. When it comes to driving fast, some two-legged animals are without doubt regarded by themselves as more equal than others. And by the ...

Smoke a Joint, Save the Subway? Post Date: 2018-12-06 10:11:44 by Willie Green

As the list of states that have legalized marijuana continues to grow, New York could have a new reason to embrace cannabis: It could help save the subway. Some state and city leaders have started to discuss the idea of making recreational marijuana legal and using the revenue to pay for badly-needed and expensive subway upgrades. The proposal could face improved odds in Albany now that Democrats have taken full control of the State Legislature for the first time in a decade. The biggest issue we hear about as elected officials is the state of the subway system, Corey Johnson, the City Council speaker, said in an interview. To be able to tie these things together is ...

from the so-are-cops-still-losing-the-tech-race-or-whatever? dept A lawsuit originally filed early last year makes some very disturbing allegations about police officers and their relationship with their vendors. Fox News is no stranger to hating on weed. In fact, the Free Thought Project has reported on their insane reefer madness several times before. However, on this Mondays episode of Fox & Friends, the propaganda and utter lies hit a new highno pun intended. On Monday, Fox and Friends was covering the story out of Mulberry, Florida in which a 12-year-old kid handed out THC gummies in a gym class at his middle school last week. At least five of his classmates went to the hospital with symptoms one would expect from a child ingesting marijuanasuch as stomach pain, dizziness, and nausea. Local media ran with the story, claiming all the kids were hospitalized and made it seem ...

Unborn Babies Learning in the Womb Disputes Abortionists Claims of Not Being Human By David Jolly Barb Wire December 4, 2018 One of the leading arguments used by abortionists is that a baby is not human until it has been born. Before that time, they claim that it is a foetus, not a human, and therefore nothing but a mass of tissue that can be removed and discarded. However, if the unborn child is just a lump of tissue, then how can it respond to stimuli such as pain or loud sounds? Weve seen ultrasound images of babies in the womb reacting to and trying to pull away from probes during an abortion. Weve seen ultrasounds of them screaming in horrific pain as their tiny limbs ...

Results of Colorado Marijuana Legalization 4 Years Later By David Jolly Barb Wire November 30, 2018 On January 1, 2014, Colorado legalized the medical and recreational use of Marijuana. They claimed that it would add millions of dollars to the states revenue via state taxes which includes a 2.9% sales tax, 10% special sales tax and 15% excise tax, meaning the state would collect $27.90 for every $100 of recreational marijuana sold in the Rocky Mountain state. In April 2014, 19 year old foreign exchange student Levy Thamba plunged off a hotel balcony and died after eating legally purchased marijuana laced cookies. After eating just one cookie, Thamba became agitated and ran out ...

Buffalo, NY Practicing your First Amendment right to free speech, in the land of the free, can and will get you beaten, kidnapped, or worse. As the body camera video below illustrates, you can be polite and courteous but when a raging cop snapsand then lies about what happensthere is very little you can do to protect yourself. Nicholas H. Belsito had committed no crime, had harmed no one, and was merely tailgating at a Bills game last year when he was savagely attacked by police, his nose broken, and blood gushing from his face. And it all began over asking for directions. That day, Belsitos friend had been arrested for allegedly hitting a cops elbow with an ...

Anyone who thinks illegal immigrants and 'asylum' applicants are coming here to work is living on another planet. New data from the Census shows that 63% of non-citizens are helping themselves to the welfare. They get it legally, and sometimes illegally, through food programs, general assistance programs, Medicaid and the earned income tax credit for low-income workers, just for starters. They get even more when benefits derived from their U.S.-born children are thrown in, though bringing in a kid born elsewhere is also an asset. Here's the report from the Washington Examiner: A majority of non-citizens, including those with legal green card rights, are tapping ...

Now, imagine learning that that guy is a serial murderer, who has been prowling the streets for years stabbing people to death. Imagine he goes his whole life without ever suffering any consequences for murdering all those people, and then when he dies, everyone wants to talk about how great he was and share heartwarming anecdotes about him. If you try to bring up the whole serial killing thing, people react with sputtering outrage that you would dare to speak ill of such a noble and wonderful person.Look, I didnt ...
