Texas Legislature Passes Ban on Gender-Transition Treatments for Minors

The Texas legislature has sent a bill limiting gender-transition treatments for minors to the desk of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who is expected to sign it. The senate voted 19–12 to ban the treatments, including surgeries and medications. House lawmakers in South Carolina passed a bill late Wednesday that would ban most abortions in the state after six weeks of pregnancy, moving it closer to continuing a trend in the South of restricting abortion access. A bipartisan group of lawmakers has introduced a bill that would require all new cars to include AM radio as many manufacturers have increasingly been phasing it out. A release from the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee on Thursday states Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who serves as the committee’s ranking member, and Ed Markey (D-Mass.), another committee member, are leading a group of nine other members of Congress from both parties to support the AM for Every Vehicle Act. Although not yet official, the Greater Idaho movement, which looks to move eastern Oregon counties into Idaho, a state more in tune with eastern Oregon’s political and cultural values, is claiming that the movement has grabbed a 12th county in its quest. Election-night totals show that Wallowa County in far northeast Oregon passed the measure by a slim margin of 1,721 “yes” votes to 1,700 “no” votes. In 2007, well before the term Deep State entered the common lexicon, I sketched the interconnected public-private pieces of the Deep State, which I termed the elite maintaining and extending global dominance. This diagram doesn't make all the connections or list all the consequential nodes of influence of course, but you get the idea: elected officials, i.e. "democracy," play a modest role in the entire structure, which displays remarkable continuity regardless of which politicians and parties are currently in power. A Marine veteran is expected to be charged with manslaugter on Friday after putting a homeless man in a chokehold that killed him on the New York City subway, the Manhattan district attorney said on Thursday. The man, identified as Daniel Penny, put 30-year-old Jordan Neely in a chokehold while they rode on the F train in Manhattan on May 1. Tucker Carlson's video posted on Twitter on Tuesday in which he announced plans to produce a show on the social media platform similar to the one he had on Fox News before he was fired has generated more than 106 million views in less than 24 hours. The three-minute video, in which Carlson said Twitter is the only platform left where free speech is allowed, was originally posted at 4:42 p.m. EDT on Tuesday. By 3:51 p.m. Wednesday, it had generated 106.7 million views.
