A state-funded organization in Maine touted as "a stellar program for social change" is advertising a seminar that essentially provides information to impressionable school-age boys on how to be homosexual, according to a pro-family organization opposing the plans. The seminar, "Queer, Questioning, Quiet: Developing Gender Identity & Male Sexual Orientation," is promoted by the Boys to Men organization in Portland, Maine, during its coming 2008 conference. The session will feature a presentation by speakers from the homosexual Proud Rainbow Youth for Southern Maine, officials said. "I think it's outrageous," Michael Heath, chief of the Christian ...

After a super-majority of Ron Paul supporters captured control of the Republican state convention Saturday, state party officials abruptly canceled the event without electing delegates to the national convention. Advertisement Early in the day, state delegates supporting Paul's continued pursuit of the Republican nomination voted through a rules change that forced the state party to abandon its preset ballot of potential national convention delegates and open up the race to the rest of the state delegates. The vote followed a rousing speech by Paul of Texas, who said his presidential campaign will continue as long as he has support. But as the convention continued into the evening, ...
NYC Is Getting a New High-Tech Defense Perimeter Post Date: 2008-04-28 22:46:47 by A K A Stone

At the southernmost end of Brooklyn, just off Dead Horse Bay, there's a weather-beaten helipad where the New York Police Department keeps a gray unmarked twin-engine Bell 412 helicopter. Detective Brendan Galligan ushers me aboard. "We don't really let people see this," he says. We climb in behind the pilot and find ourselves facing a console with three screens: One shows a map of the city; another, an interface for checking license plates and addresses; and the third, the view from a gyro-stabilized L-3 Wescam camera attached to the chopper's nose. The camera can see clear across the city, in both the visible and the infrared slices of the spectrum; then it can ...
Survival Real Estate Market Update Shopping for Retreat Property in Rural Western Maine Post Date: 2008-04-25 07:05:09 by A K A Stone

I'm a survivalist Realtor in Western Maine. I will work with buyers on the many retreat-type properties in the foothills of the northern Appalachians generally within 100 miles or so of the 100 year old agency I'm associated with. However, there are many, many properties that I have access to which are further away from me - at least 3/4 of the state has retreat-type properties - so can travel further, or refer buyers to another broker. Maine is loaded with reasonably priced (and going lower !) large lots with, or without buildings. Lots of grown up old farmland from 5 - 500 acres - one remarkable 2 0,000 + acre parcel nearby that I'm very familiar with !! Only about 1 million ...
Hillary and Bill Don't Want No "Nigger" in The White House Post Date: 2008-04-25 06:57:19 by A K A Stone

WASHINGTON - Scurrilous and disingenuous were among the words a top Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives used on Thursday to describe Hillary Clintons campaign tactics in her bid to defeat Barack Obama for their partys presidential nomination. House Democratic Whip James Clyburn, of South Carolina and the highest ranking black in Congress, also said he has heard speculation that Clinton is staying in the race only to try to derail Obama and pave the way for her to make another White House run in 2012. rtr1w3w5.jpgI heard something, the first time yesterday (in South Carolina), and I heard it on the (House) floor today, which is telling me ...
McCain: Commoners Must Accept Globalization Post Date: 2008-04-23 21:44:20 by A K A Stone

Come November, it does not matter who wins the White House, the lot of the average American will be the same no matter if Obama, Clinton, or McCain sit in the White House. And that lot will be one of increasing misery as the late, great United States is converted into a slave labor gulag, little different than China. McCain told the commoners of Youngstown, Ohio, as much yesterday. Republican John McCain made a risky argument in a hard-hit Ohio steel town yesterday, telling residents that free trade can help solve their problems, reports the Boston Globe. That is a tough sell in communities that have hemorrhaged jobs as manufacturing moved overseas and cheap ...
Food Shortages in the US Underscore the Weakness of JIT Inventory Systems Post Date: 2008-04-23 20:44:37 by A K A Stone

The mass media is currently in a frenzy about spot shortages of rice, flour, and cooking oil at COSTCO stores. I've fielded seven radio interviews in the last couple of days. The only good news is that we set an all-time record yesterday, with 22,217 unique site visits to SurvivalBlog in one day! The rationing situation is getting worse. Several SurvivalBlog readers sent me this: Wal-Mart's Sam's Club limits rice purchases. Meanwhile, we read in The Washington Times: Americans hoard food as industry seeks regulations. Josh Gerstein, the reporter that interviewed me for the recent New York Sun piece, just got his two minutes of fame on FOX News: Food Shortage Coming? No Rice For ...

The new Constitution of Americas Union Post Date: 2008-04-21 08:08:51 by A K A Stone

When President Bush and his CANAMEX counterparts assemble in New Orleans today for the 4th Annual Summit of the Americas, they will undoubtedly discuss a growing problem: how to continue denying that they are building a North American Union. Despite the official denials, the snickering and the ridicule, the process continues. The President, himself, may be just a pawn in a much bigger game being played by geo-political forces that also do not exist - officially. These forces have created Constitution for Americas Union. The bigger game includes six such "unions", all of which are to function under a "reformed" United Nations. It is important to note that among all the ...
America confronted by once unthinkable phenomenon - food rationing... Post Date: 2008-04-21 08:06:25 by A K A Stone

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. Many parts of America, long considered the breadbasket of the world, are now confronting a once unthinkable phenomenon: food rationing. Major retailers in New York, in areas of New England, and on the West Coast are limiting purchases of flour, rice, and cooking oil as demand outstrips supply. There are also anecdotal reports that some consumers are hoarding grain stocks. At a Costco Warehouse in Mountain View, Calif., yesterday, shoppers grew frustrated and occasionally uttered expletives as they searched in vain for the large sacks of rice they usually buy. "Where's the rice?" an engineer from Palo Alto, Calif., Yajun Liu, said. "You ...

LOS ANGELES - Ana Puente was an infant with a liver disorder when her aunt brought her illegally to the United States to seek medical care. She underwent two liver transplants at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center as a child in 1989 and a third in 1998, each paid for by the state. But when Puente turned 21 in June, she aged out of her state-funded health insurance and the ability to continue treatment at UCLA. This year, her liver began failing again and she was hospitalized at County-USC Medical Center, affiliated with the University of Southern California. In her Medi-Cal application, a USC doctor wrote, "Her current clinical course is irreversible, ...

SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) - Adult mothers who have been allowed to stay with their young children since they were taken from a polygamous sect will be separated from them after DNA sampling is completed next week, a child welfare official said Saturday. State District Judge Barbara Walther late Friday ordered that parents and children of the Yearning For Zion Ranch submit DNA samples to help sort out family relationships that have confounded authorities since 416 children were taken into state custody two weeks ago. Sampling is to begin Monday and will probably take several days to complete, said Darrell Azar, a spokesman for Child Protective Services. Results could take more than a month. ...

In the summer of 2005, the Bush administration confronted a fresh wave of criticism over Guantánamo Bay. The detention center had just been branded the gulag of our times by Amnesty International, there were new allegations of abuse from United Nations human rights experts and calls were mounting for its closure. 0420 03 1 The administrations communications experts responded swiftly. Early one Friday morning, they put a group of retired military officers on one of the jets normally used by Vice President Dick Cheney and flew them to Cuba for a carefully orchestrated tour of Guantánamo. To the public, these men are members of a familiar fraternity, presented ...

NEW YORK - What's scary, funny and boring at the same time? It could be a bad horror movie. Or it could be the fine print on your Internet service provider's contract. Those documents you agree to usually without reading ostensibly allow your ISP to watch how you use the Internet, read your e-mail or keep you from visiting sites it deems inappropriate. Some reserve the right to block traffic and, for any reason, cut off a service that many users now find essential. The Associated Press reviewed the "Acceptable Use Policies" and "Terms of Service" of the nation's 10 largest ISPs in all, 117 pages of contracts that leave few rights for ...

Scarborough, Brzezinski advance myth that McCain "stayed with" his immigration position Summary: On Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough advanced the myth that Sen. John McCain hasn't flip-flopped on his position on immigration reform by asserting: "[T]here are a lot of issues that Republicans have despised John McCain for taking positions on. He stayed with those positions, and it makes him much stronger in the fall campaign because of it, and I speak mainly of illegal immigration." In response, co-host Mika Brzezinski said, "Absolutely." Indeed, conservatives have praised McCain's rightward shift on the issue. On the April 1 edition of MSNBC's ...
Billions of gallons of oil in North Dakota, Montana Post Date: 2008-04-13 22:56:41 by A K A Stone

A shale formation stretching North Dakota and Montana may have an estimated 3.0 to 4.3 billion barrels of technically recoverable oil, according to a U.S. Geological Survey assessment. Known as the Bakken Formation, this find would make the recoverable oil in North Dakota and Montana the largest United States oil reserves outside Alaska. Map of Bakken Formation in northern United States, courtesy Grand Forks Herald The recently released assessment shows a 2,800 percent, or 28-times increase in the amount of oil recoverable from the Bakken Formation, compared to the agency's 1995 estimate of 151 million barrels of oil. According to the USGS, the dramatically increased estimate of ...

According to the most recent U.S. Census figures, more than 24 million Americans cannot speak English -- thats more than double the 1990 total. Increasingly, English is being replaced by Spanish, Chinese, Korean and other languages. It is a matter of public record that the federal government has so far refused to declare English as the official language of the United States. In fact, the government continues enacting laws requiring the use of foreign languages in more and more official capacities -- and all at taxpayers expense! Take the survey and let your voice be heard.

VIOLA, Wis. (AP) A landowner with "strong anti-government attitudes" barricaded himself in his rural home Thursday and fired shots at SWAT officers trying to search his home and arrest him, authorities said. No one was injured. The dispute started Monday when Richland County sheriff's deputies tried to serve Robert Bayliss, 60, with a lawsuit seeking to evict him for failure to pay property taxes back to 2001 on his home and 18 acres, Richland county counsel Benjamin Southwick said. The county took ownership of the land in November because of the unpaid taxes, Southwick said. Rifle shots were fired at officers who went to the property Monday, said Darin Gudgeon, the ...

The punishment visited on Sen. Hillary Clinton for her flagrant, hysterical, repetitive, pathological lying about her visit to Bosnia should be much heavier than it has yet been and should be exacted for much more than just the lying itself. There are two kinds of deliberate and premeditated deceit, commonly known as suggestio falsi and suppressio veri. (Neither of them is covered by the additionally lying claim of having "misspoken.") The first involves what seems to be most obvious in the present case: the putting forward of a bogus or misleading account of events. But the second, and often the more serious, means that the liar in question has also attempted to bury or to ...
