Maguire's Tuesday talk at PFAW's New York office was reportedly the first time he publicly confirmed that the book cost him his job. Maguire said he was let go despite having prior permission to write the book about Coulter, the ...

A Virginia man claims he was fired from his job because a message on the window of his pickup truck supported a proposed state constitutional amendment on marriage. Luis Padilla, who worked in the human resources office at Cargill, the international provider of food and agricultural products and services, wrote on his vehicle's rear window, "Please, vote for marriage on Nov. 7." Luis Padilla says the message on his truck got him fired (Courtesy Harrisonburg Daily News Record) Virginia's proposed amendment would define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. An attorney for Cargill, Al Sufka, says Padilla was dismissed for insubordination, because he did not remove ...
Which Will Fall First—Baghdad or Washington, D.C.? Post Date: 2006-10-20 11:05:32 by alwaysontheright

Which Will Fall FirstBaghdad or Washington, D.C.? These are perilous times, to say the least. Americas war on terror in Iraq is not going well, and even President Bush has admitted that it could end up like Vietnam. Our way of life and freedoms are under attack from sworn enemies like Osama bin Laden, Kim Jong Il, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Hugo Chavez. Although the lunatic in charge of North Korea is reportedly sorry for his nuclear test theatrics, one suspects that the madmans repentance is due solely to severe arm twisting by his Chinese sponsors. Just the day previous, Il was warning the world that more nuclear tests were in the offing. Mahmoud ...

"He leads in a way that the good Lord tells him is best for our country," said Marine General Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Rumsfeld is "a man whose patriotism focus, energy, drive, is exceeded by no one else I know ... quite simply, he works harder than anybody else in our building," Pace said at a ceremony at the Southern Command (Southcom) in Miami. Rumsfeld has faced a storm of criticism and calls for his resignation, largely over his handling of the Iraq war. But he got a strong show of support from the military ...

A Kane County Board candidate arrested last week on sexual assault charges died Tuesday when his vehicle slammed head-on into a concrete bridge support, Aurora police said. Brent K. Schepp, 36, a father of four from Aurora, was traveling at "a very high rate of speed" on Eola Road and did not try to brake or take any evasive action, said Dan Ferrelli, police spokesman. "At this point in the investigation, we believe this to be self-inflicted," Ferrelli said, adding that the coroner and an inquest will determine the cause of death. Schepp was seeking the board's District 3 seat, but his first bid for office quickly unraveled with the announcement Friday of ...

Pedophile Nation By Ben Stein Published 10/18/2006 12:09:50 AM Obviously, it's not easy to have a lot of sympathy for Mark Foley. He did some extremely questionable things, and he's being heartily punished for it, with more to come, most likely. But he has raised an interesting issue long overdue for national discussion. The media and the pundits are acting as if something brand new happened when a grown up discovered the sexuality of teenagers. They're acting as if teenagers are innocent little children who never heard of sex until they got e-mails from a Member of Congress. The truth is just the opposite. This is a nation that is absolutely drenched in juvenile sex. I am not sure ...

John W. Lillpop Open Letter to Incumbents, Challengers - Mexico Is Americas Enemy! Ladies and Gentlemen: Before assuming office as a member of the U.S. Senate or House, each elected member must take a solemn oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution and to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic. The authority to govern is contingent on fulfilling that oath. All Senators and Representatives serve at the will of the People; they have no other source of power. Illegal immigration is a major problem in the United States that impacts our defenses against terrorism and costs U.S. taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars each year. Americans want our elected ...

Hussein to be sentenced two days before mid-term elections Wire reports indicated Monday that a verdict in the trial of disposed Iraqi despot Saddam Hussein is expected on Nov. 5, two days before the congressional elections. That timing could significantly benefit GOP candidates, many of which are struggling to defend the war. After offering various rationales for the invasion of Iraq since 2003, President Bush recently said that the main reason for the war was to get rid of the Iraqi dictator. "Presidents don't get to look back, but I will tell you, the decision to remove Saddam was the right decision," Bush said last week at a White House press conference. An expected guilty ...

The nation's largest pro-troop organization claims Fox News is lying about the reason the network rejected an ad countering ex-President Bill Clinton's recent assertions about his efforts to combat Islamic terrorism. Images from the Move America Forward ad A spokesman for Fox News previously told WND that the advertisement made a claim about Clinton that wasn't documented, so the ad wasn't accepted. "That's standard operating procedure for Fox News," he said. "If there's something (like that) in an ad, we ask for documentation for it." "The claim by the Fox News Channel spokesman is not correct," said Move America Forward spokesman Joe Wierzbicki. ...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Justice Antonin Scalia on Sunday defended some of his Supreme Court opinions, arguing that nothing in the Constitution supports abortion rights and the use of race in school admissions. Scalia, a leading conservative voice on the high court, sparred in a one-hour televised debate with American Civil Liberties Union president Nadine Strossen. He said unelected judges have no place deciding politically charged questions when the Constitution is silent on those issues. Arguing that liberal judges in the past improperly established new political rights such as abortion, Scalia warned, "Someday, you're going to get a very conservative Supreme Court and regret that ...

Just a month ago, the network denied rumors that it would file for bankruptcy. Connecticut Republican Christopher Shays has listened to a lot of reckless rhetoric in his ongoing campaign for reelection. The straw that broke the camels back apparently came when his Democrat challenger, Diane Farrell, called for Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Il.) to resign while welcoming the support of Senator Teddy Kennedy (D-Mass.) who campaigned for Farrell in the state recently. Shays had this to say about relative integrity of Hastert and Kennedy: "I know the speaker didn't go over a bridge and leave a young person in the water, and then have a press conference the next day," and Dennis Hastert didn't kill anybody," he added. Shays remarks were ...

Doug Lidle and his close friend Bobby Compton played a round of golf Wednesday morning near their southern California homes. Afterward, they went into the snack bar and watched as the television news broke in with an urgent flash: A small plane had crashed into a Manhattan skyscraper. "We were watching it on TV," Compton told http://ESPN.com, "not even thinking it could be Cory, because Doug thought Cory had already left." Lisa Lidle, Doug's wife, had just spoken to their son, Cory. "See you Saturday," he'd told her. Lidle's parents were sure he was on his way home. He'd planned to fly back to California later this week, making a few stops along the way. ...

NEW YORK -- A small plane with New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle aboard crashed into a 50-story condominium tower Wednesday on Manhattan's Upper East Side, killing at least four people and raining flaming debris on sidewalks, authorities said. Federal Aviation Administration records showed the single-engine plane was registered to Lidle, and FBI reports show that Lidle's passport was found at the scene. The FBI believed Lidle was the only person aboard the plane and the other three deaths occurred inside the building. The twin-engine plane came through a hazy, cloudy sky and hit the 20th floor of The Belaire -- a red-brick tower overlooking the East River, about five miles from the ...
