WASHINGTON Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay pulled no punches on Chris Matthews "Hardball"show on MSNBC today when asked if he is a "birther." "Well, Id like the president to produce his birth certificate," said DeLay. "I can. Most illegal aliens here in America can. Why can't the president of the United States produce his birth certificate? ... Chris, will you do me a favor? Will you ask the president to show me his gift certificate I mean, his birth certificate?" DeLay's outspokenness on the subject stands in stark contrast to any current member of Congress. Implying Barack Obama is being unfairly singled ...

The Death Book for Veterans: Ex-soldiers dont need to be told theyre a burden to society by Jim Towey in todays (August 18) Wall Street Journal says, Last year, bureaucrats at the VAs National Center for Ethics in Health Care advocated a 52-page end-of-life planning document, Your Life, Your Choices. It was first published in 1997 and later promoted as the VAs preferred living will throughout its vast network of hospitals and nursing homes. After the Bush White House took a look at how this document was treating complex health and moral issues, the VA suspended its use. Unfortunately, under President Obama, the VA has now resuscitated ...
Obama Advisor: There Very Well May Be a Death Panel Post Date: 2009-08-19 00:31:21 by A K A Stone

Economist Martin Feldstein is probably coming as close as an Obama advisor can to letting the country know that a death panel may be on its way. Feldstein was appointed by President Obama to the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board. In Wednesday's WSJ, Feldstein writes: The White House Council of Economic Advisers issued a report in June explaining the Obama administration's goal of reducing projected health spending by 30% over the next two decades. That reduction would be achieved by eliminating "high cost, low-value treatments," by "implementing a set of performance measures that all providers would adopt," and by "directly targeting ...

ELYRIA For lunch Monday, Elyria High School served up pepperoni pizza to the students who came back for the first day of classes. But instead of students handing over cash, some placed their index fingers on small scanners and walked away with their lunches. Im just really glad I dont have to remember a number every day or have a card or something, said 14-year-old Korey Gallaher. All you have to do is put your finger down and go. With the start of the new school year well under way at the high school, a new lunch system is being piloted that will use student fingerprints instead of cards or personal identification numbers to access lunch ...

WASHINGTON--Chicago Sun-Times columnist Robert Novak, one of the nation's most influential journalists, who relished his "Prince of Darkness" public persona, died at home here early Tuesday morning after a battle with brain cancer. "He was someone who loved being a journalist, love journalism and loved his country and loved his family, Novak's wife, Geraldine, told the Sun-Times on Tuesday. "Bob was always the pro, no matter what he had going on he was always at the ready to help out on stories, and he broke more than his share. Even as he became a national figure he was always proud to be part of the Sun-Times and we were proud of him," said Don Hayner, ...
Firefox Plug-In Frees Court Records, Threatens Judiciary Profits Post Date: 2009-08-16 19:45:05 by A K A Stone

Access to the nations federal law proceedings just got a public interest hack, thanks to programmers from Princeton, Harvard and the Internet Archive, who released a Firefox plug-in designed to make millions of pages of legal documents free. Free as in beer and free as in speech. The Problem: Federal courts use an archaic, document-tracking system known as PACER as their official repository for complaints, court motions, case scheduling and decisions. The system design resembles a DMV computer system, circa 1988 and lacks even the most basic functionality, such as notifications when a case gets a new filing. But whats worse is that PACER charges 8 cents per page (capped ...

TEA Party Held Near Herald-Leader By Amy Wilson - awilson1@herald-leader.com The women standing in Thoroughbred Park with their signs turned toward Midland Avenue and the Herald-Leader were part of what was billed as an Accountabili-TEA party, a grass-roots effort to put "local news organizations on notice that you are accountable for what you say and print, and we surround you." One person wanted to know where the independent press was. Another extolled the U.S. Constitution, and a third was looking for U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler, D-Versailles. The TEA (Taxed Enough Already) party had been touted online as a way "to make them fear us," but it turned out to be more of ...

Napolitano Says Americans Have a Responsibility to Spy On Each Other Post Date: 2009-07-30 21:41:38 by A K A Stone

NEW YORK A top US domestic security chief announced Wednesday a strategy to make ordinary citizens the first line of defense against an increasingly multi-faceted terrorist threat. "For too long, we've treated the public as a liability to be protected rather than an asset in our nation's collective security," Janet Napolitano, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said in a speech in New York. "This approach, unfortunately, has allowed confusion, anxiety and fear to linger." Napolitano, who also announced an extra 78 million dollars in anti-terrorism funding for 15 mass transit systems nationwide, said modern communications had increased the ...
Military May Ban Twitter, Facebook as Security ‘Headaches’ Post Date: 2009-07-30 21:17:34 by A K A Stone

The U.S. military is strongly considering a near-total ban on Twitter, Facebook, and all other social networking sites throughout the Department of Defense, multiple sources within the armed forces tell Danger Room. Its the latest twist in the Defense Departments tangled relationship with so-called Web 2.083; sites. But while earlier social media blockades have been thrown up over bandwidth and secrecy concerns, this fresh ban stems from fears that Facebook and the like make it far too easy for hackers and cybercrooks to gain access to the militarys networks. Last week, U.S. Strategic Command issued a warning order to the rest of the military, asking ...
Sotomayor hearing moves to key social issues Post Date: 2009-07-14 10:17:32 by A K A Stone

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama's Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor faces tough questioning on Tuesday as lawmakers seek to discover where she might take the country on issues such as abortion, guns and race. Sotomayor, 55, began her confirmation hearing on Monday before the Senate Judiciary Committee split largely along party lines over her nomination, which would make her the first Hispanic justice on the top U.S. court. Democrats who control the Senate say Sotomayor has both the legal expertise and the life experience to serve on the nine-member court that has been closely divided with four liberal and five conservative members. Republicans, however, have ...
Ron Paul: Obama’s ‘goal’ is economic collapse Post Date: 2009-06-25 10:34:40 by A K A Stone

Ron Paul, the popular Republican Congressman from Texas, is ripping into the president and Congress for what he sees as their goal with round after round of stimulus: complete economic collapse. From their spending habits, an economic collapse seems to be the goal of Congress and this administration, he said in his June 22, 2009, weekly address. He added that Democrats who voted for the presidents war funding request, which gave an additional $106 billion to military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq among other, unrelated items were actually voting in favor of the wars, not just authorization of the presidents agenda. He called it an ...

Dick Head Cheney Supports Fags Getting "Married" Post Date: 2009-06-02 19:52:43 by A K A Stone

WASHINGTON (AP) - Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday he supports gays being able to marry but believes states, not the federal government, should make the decision. "I think, you know, freedom means freedom for everyone," Cheney said in a speech at the National Press Club. "I think people ought to be free to enter into any kind of union they wish, any kind of arrangement they wish." Cheney, who has a gay daughter, said marriage has always been a state issue. "And I think that's the way it ought to be handled today, that is, on a state-by-state basis. Different states will make different decisions. But I don't have any problem with that. I ...
Did Chrysler target Republican dealers for closure? Post Date: 2009-05-27 07:41:26 by A K A Stone

We ended a recent story on an unhappy Chrysler dealer with the theory that political affiliation may have been a major factor in which dealers Chrysler chose to close. Considering the fact that Chrysler is now owned by the United Auto Workers and controlled by President Obamas minions, the theory seemed plausible. Directorblue.blogspot.com followed up on our theory and the results of its research make us look look like were clairvoyant. Heres how DirectorBlue describes what they found: To quickly review the situation, I took all dealer owners whose names appeared more than once in the list. And, of those who contributed to political campaigns, every single one had ...

Let me tell you a little bit about Rusty the Lizard. She was my daughters lizard that we got when we were on vacation at Myrtle Beach almost 3 years ago. He was a tiny little thing being a green anole lizard. Well he changed colors but he was often green. He ate crickets and flies when I could catch them. He was a fun creature to watch and observe. He would make flying leaps and catch flies in midair. I will have to tell my daughter in the morning that Rusty has died. She will be sad. RIP Rusty.

"After 9/11, I haven't written about this yet, but the Central Intelligence Agency was very deeply involved in domestic activities against people they thought to be enemies of the state. Without any legal authority for it. They havent been called on it yet. That does happen. "Right now, today, there was a story in the New York Times that if you read it carefully mentioned something known as the Joint Special Operations Command -- JSOC its called. It is a special wing of our special operations community that is ...
New Battery Could Recharge in Seconds Post Date: 2009-03-11 22:47:11 by A K A Stone

A new battery material that recharges 100 times faster than the lithium-ion in your laptop has been revealed by researchers at MIT. The discovery could lead to cellphone-sized batteries that could be charged in 10 seconds. "The ability to charge and discharge batteries in a matter of seconds rather than hours may open up new technological applications and induce lifestyle changes," wrote materials scientists Gerbrand Ceder and Byoungwoo Kang Wednesday in the journal Nature. In energy storage, there has always been a trade-off between the amount of energy a material could store and how quickly you could discharge it. Batteries were pretty good at storing energy (although not ...

Wikipedia, the online "free encyclopedia" mega-site written and edited entirely by its users, has been deleting within minutes any mention of eligibility issues surrounding Barack Obama's presidency, with administrators kicking off anyone who writes about the subject, WND has learned. A perusal through Obama's current Wikipedia entry finds a heavily guarded, mostly glowing biography about the U.S. president. Some of Obama's most controversial past affiliations, including with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and former Weathermen terrorist Bill Ayers, are not once mentioned, even though those associations received much news media attention and served as dominant themes during the ...

WASHINGTON (AP) - New documents show the CIA destroyed nearly 100 tapes of terror interrogations. The figure is far higher than the handful of recordings the agency has previously admitted destroying, and the revelation comes as a criminal prosecutor is wrapping up his investigation in the matter. The acknowledgment of dozens of destroyed tapes came in a letter filed by government lawyers in New York, where the American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit seeking more details of terror interrogation programs. The tapes became a contentious issue in the trial of Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui, after prosecutors initially claimed no such recordings existed, then acknowledged ...
