WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama will meet with Senate Democrats at the White House Tuesday to press for action at a make-or-break moment for his health care overhaul. All 60 members of the Democratic caucus have been invited, according to three Democratic officials. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement was not yet public. The meeting comes as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid works to round up votes to get a sweeping health bill passed before Christmas. The economy has been in the dumps for years, but the good times keep on rolling for some favored D.C. employees. City officials have doled out nearly $15 million in bonuses and awards since Mayor Adrian Fenty took office in January 2007, records obtained by The Examiner under the Freedom of Information Act show. Among the big winners were Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee, who was handed $41,250 in August 2007 after barely two months on the job; Department of Health Director Pierre Vigilance, who was given $15,000 in 2008; and city property manager Robin-Eve Jasper, handed $18,000 over two years.

Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -18. WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Supreme Court said Monday it will decide how much privacy workers have when they send text messages from company accounts. The justices said they will review a federal appeals court ruling that sided with California police officers who complained that the department improperly snooped on their electronic exchanges. Overall, 44% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. That’s the lowest level yet measured for this president. Previously, his overall approval rating had fallen to 45% twice, once in early September and once in late November. Fifty-five percent (55%) now disapprove.

A 51-year-old Lacey man pleaded guilty Thursday to three counts of first-degree child rape of his adopted 7-year-old daughter. Eddy Tony Whisenhunt, a former bus driver for Intercity Transit, faces a potential sentence of between 18 years and life in prison. His sentencing is set for January.
