Will the Militarized Police State Shock You Into Submission? Post Date: 2008-03-23 22:48:47 by A K A Stone

This is perhaps one of the most kooky and creepy Security State tactics that I have come across: the EMD safety bracelet, which is being billed as the "last line of defence." A company called Lamperd Firearm Training Systems(scroll down) is trying to commercialize this item as an "airline security product." The companys video that hawks this device talks about the current facial recognition system called biometrics, where cameras capture photos of people and compare those images to the images of "terrorists" in its "terrorist" database. No matter how sophisticated this technology, it can all too often allow a terrorist on board a plane, and, ...
John McCain Associates With Known Mass Murderer George W. Bush Post Date: 2008-03-19 23:26:23 by A K A Stone

Why does John McCain associate with a known murderer and a decedent of Nazis? John McCain needs to explain his appearances with George W. Bush the mass murderer. Why would John McCain associate with a man who bombs and kills women and children. Does John McCain know that George W. Bush has had hundreds of thousands of people killed? If John McCain doesn't know that doesn't that mean he is to senile or stupid to become president.? If John McCain does know about Georges evil deeds than what does that say about John McCains character? So John McCain needs to come forward and level with the American people about his association and allying himself with George W. Bush the mass murderer. ...
Ventura: Will he or won’t he? Post Date: 2008-03-14 10:38:53 by A K A Stone

To hear Jesse Ventura tell it, hes either out to become president or an expatriate. In the opening to his fourth book, due out April 1, the former wrestler and governor of Minnesota writes: As I begin to write this book, Im facing probably the most monumental decision of my 56 years on this planet. Will I run for president of the United States, as an independent, in 2008? Or will I stay as far away from the fray as possible, in a place with no electricity, on a remote beach in Mexico? AP Throughout the book, called Dont Start the Revolution Without Me!, Ventura seems to go back and forth on the question, pro and con: Pro: My outrage knows ...
Clothesline rule creates flap Post Date: 2008-03-13 07:47:29 by A K A Stone

CONCORD, N.H. - They say they only want to protect their "right to dry." And in three New England states, advocates for clotheslines - yes, clotheslines, strung across the yard, draped with socks and sheets - are pushing for new laws to liberate residents whose neighbors won't let them hang laundry outside. more stories like this Homeowners' associations, which enforce bans on clotheslines at thousands of residential developments across the country, say the rules are needed to prevent flapping laundry from dragging down property values. But in an age of paper over plastic, as people try to take small steps to protect the environment, more residents are chafing at the ...

March 12 (Bloomberg) -- Eliot Spitzer resigned as governor of New York, brought down by allegations that he patronized a ring of high-priced prostitutes. Spitzer, who apologized to all New Yorkers, said his resignation is effective March 17. Lieutenant Governor David Paterson, 53, will become the state's 55th governor, serving out the rest of Spitzer's term, which expires Dec. 31, 2010. Paterson, a Democrat like Spitzer, will be the state's first black governor. ``People regardless of their position or power take responsibility for their conduct. I can and will ask no less of myself,'' Spitzer, 48, said today at a Manhattan press conference, accompanied by his wife ...

An apparently homeless man who was trying to keep warm died Monday night after collapsing in a Chicago police station in Logan Square. Paul Schmatko, 47, was among several homeless people waiting in the lobby of the Shakespeare (14th) District Station, 2150 N. California Ave., when he was found unresponsive, authorities said Tuesday morning. "A desk sergeant noticed it and called for an ambulance," said Chicago Police Officer Marcel Bright. Bright said it appeared the men in the lobby were there to get out of the cold. Schmatko was pronounced dead at 9:05 p.m. at Norwegian-American Hospital, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office. An ...
Tim Couch, The asshole from Kentucky Wants to Make Anonymous Internet Posting Illegal Post Date: 2008-03-11 09:58:55 by A K A Stone

Kentucky Representative Tim Couch filed a bill this week to make anonymous posting online illegal. The bill would require anyone who contributes to a website to register their real name, address and e-mail address with that site. Their full name would be used anytime a comment is posted. If the bill becomes law, the website operator would have to pay if someone was allowed to post anonymously on their site. The fine would be five-hundred dollars for a first offense and one-thousand dollars for each offense after that. Representative Couch says he filed the bill in hopes of cutting down on online bullying. He says that has especially been a problem in his Eastern Kentucky district. ...

If youre looking for a sure sign the U.S. economy is headed in the wrong direction, all you need to do is look at the skyrocketing price of recession-proof foods: pizza, hot dogs, bagels and beer. For many Americans, the credit crunch and the mortgage mess have left their pocketbooks and their cupboards bare. These same consumers, many living paycheck to paycheck, have relied on these cheaper foods to keep their expenditures down. Not anymore. In the past few months, the news has gone from bad to worse: * Pizza makers have seen their cheese costs soar this year from $1.30 a pound to $1.76 a pound. Even worse, the flour used to make the dough has gone from ...
Pet Sterilization Becomes Law in LA Post Date: 2008-02-28 07:20:06 by A K A Stone

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on Tuesday signed one of the nation's toughest laws on pet sterilization, requiring most dogs and cats to be spayed or neutered by the time they are 4 months old. The ordinance is aimed at reducing and eventually eliminating the thousands of euthanizations conducted in Los Angeles' animal shelters every year. "We will, sooner rather than later, become a no-kill city and this is the greatest step in that direction," Councilman Tony Cardenas said as he held a kitten at a City Hall news conference. Councilman Richard Alarcon, who like Cardenas is a co-author of the bill, brought his two pet Chihuahuas to the event to be ...

There is a great amount of interest in this years presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates a woman and an African-American while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their partys nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain. Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord of special-interest groups, ranging from gay, lesbian and transgender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians. There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will ...

A recently-unearthed U.S. Navy research project calls for creating mad-made floods and droughts to "disrupt [the] economy" of an enemy state. "Weather modification was used successfully in Viet Nam to (among other things) hinder and impede the movement of personnel and material from North Viet Nam to South Viet Nam," notes a Naval Air Warfare Weapons Division - China Lake research proposal, released last month through the Freedom of Information Act. But "since that time military research on Weather Modification has dwindled in the United States." The proposal suggests a study of the latest weather manipulation techniques, to "give the U.S. military a ...

Mr. Bergersen worked as a weapons system analyst for the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, in Arlington, which is in charge of U.S. arms sales to foreign nations. He held a top-secret clearance. One official said the case involved the ...

In keeping with its mandate to gather intelligence, the CIA is watching YouTube. U.S. spies, now under the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), are looking increasingly online for intelligence; they have become major consumers of social media. "We're looking at YouTube, which carries some unique and honest-to-goodness intelligence," said Doug Naquin, director of the DNI Open Source Center (OSC), in remarks to the Central Intelligence Retirees' Association last October. "We're looking at chat rooms and things that didn't exist five years ago, and trying to stay ahead. We have groups looking at what they call 'Citizens Media': people taking ...

TIME FOR SOME REAL STRAIGHT TALK, JOHN McCAIN IS ASN OUTRIGHT LIAR ! CANADA FREE PRESS - By JB Williams Wednesday, January 30, 2008 - http://canadafreepress.com/printpage.php Republicans had better rush to come to grips with the reality that all of our smart options for the 2008 election cycle are already off the table. Unlike past elections, Republicans actually had two very strong conservatives to unite behind in the 2008 primaries, Thompson and Hunter, and they failed to unite behind either of them. The time to stand up for a true traditional conservative Republican has passed. The chance to do something smart no longer exists. Now we have one last shot and less than one week to do ...
Homeland Security's 'Cyber Storm' War Game Post Date: 2008-02-01 07:18:22 by A K A Stone

t's the government's idea of a really bad day: Washington's Metro trains shut down. Seaport computers in New York go dark. Bloggers reveal locations of railcars with hazardous materials. Airport control towers are disrupted in Philadelphia and Chicago. Overseas, a mysterious liquid is found on London's subway. And that's just for starters. Those incidents were among dozens of detailed, mock disasters confronting officials rapid-fire in the U.S. government's biggest-ever "Cyber Storm" war game, according to hundreds of pages of heavily censored files obtained by The Associated Press. The Homeland Security Department ran the exercise to test the ...
Lou Dobbs alert: Illegal immigrants may get rebates Post Date: 2008-01-31 07:13:28 by A K A Stone

In their bipartisan zeal to quickly cut a deal on an economic stimulus bill, GOP lawmakers overlooked something that will certainly inflame the conservative base _ illegal immigrants could receive a tax rebate check from the government. But late Wednesday, the Senate Finance Committee was scrambling to fix the problem _ contained in the House bill _ by only allowing taxpayers using legitimate Social Security numbers to receive rebates. The text of the House passed bill contains language making "non resident aliens" _ illegal immigrants _ ineligible for the tax rebates. But every year, hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants use individual taxpayer identification ...

Behind the recent bad news lurks a much deeper concern: The world economy is now being driven by a vast, secretive web of investments that might be out of anyone's control. THE PAST YEAR has been a harrowing one for the world's financial markets, shaken by subprime crises, credit crunches, and other ills. Things have only gotten stranger in the past week, with stock prices swinging wildly in every major market - drastically down, then back up. Last week the Federal Reserve announced the biggest cut in overnight lending rates in more than two decades. Congress, not to be outdone, is slapping together a massive deficit spending package aimed at giving the economy an emergency ...

A new pro-life organization is getting ready to start declaring a list of "collaborators" with the abortion industry, starting with a company that is building a huge abortion business in Denver. Will Duffy, a spokesman for the Collaborators Project, told WND that The Weitz Co., a billion dollar building corporation, has been given a deadline of Jan. 31 to stop work on its Planned Parenthood abortion business in Denver. "If Weitz does not cease from constructing this abortion facility by Jan. 31st, we will designate their firm with Permanent Collaborator Status." He said that would mean pro-lifers then would expand the typical targets of their protests, now focusing on ...

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic and Republican congressional leaders reached a tentative deal Thursday on tax rebates of $300 to $1,200 per family and business tax cuts to jolt the slumping economy. Congressional officials close to the negotiations said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio reached agreement in principle in a telephone call Thursday morning. The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the two wanted key members of their parties to sign off on the accord before any announcement. The accord came as the White House said Thursday an agreement was imminent. Pelosi, D-Calif., agreed to drop increases in food stamp and unemployment ...

Did you see that funny YouTube where Mike Huckabee's young Iowa spokesman endorsed me, "by mistake"? We know what was in his mind! Indeed, I am amazed at the friendliness of the supporters of other candidates. Many Obama voters, for example, in Iowa and New Hampshire are reading our literature, and studying our ideas. It's just one of the reasons I am so optimistic about what we are doing, and where we are heading. And so were the 500 or 600 people at our New Hampshire rally after the primary. I talked to everyone there, and they are rightly enthusiastic about our movement. This does not mean we will have an easy time of it -- just the opposite, of course. After all, we ...
John Mccain the liar said ""I think we can set up a program where amnesty is extended to a certain number of people," Post Date: 2008-01-07 07:33:20 by A K A Stone

Sen. John McCain Sen. John McCain's Straight Talk Express may have derailed in the New Hampshire debates. In tonight's Fox News presidential forum, the GOP hopeful denied charges he favored an immigration-reform plan that offered amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. "I have never, ever supported amnesty, and never will," McCain asserted. During the ABC News presidential debate on Saturday, he angrily denied it and even suggested anybody who says he did support amnesty is a "liar, is lying." But in a May 28, 2003, press conference in Tucson, the Arizona senator said Congress should pass a guest-worker program that includes "amnesty" for illegal ...
