Federalist: Democrat Michelle Rhee as Education Secretary ‘Would Be a Terrible Choice’
Post Date: 2016-11-19 07:59:58 by cranky
President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly meeting Friday with Democrat Michelle Rhee, the former Washington, D.C., schools chancellor and potential candidate for the post of U.S. secretary of education.Andrew Ujifusa, writing at Education Week, reported the slated meeting Friday. Trumps search for education secretary appears to be crossing party lines, writes Ujifusa. Rhee, who has identified as a Democrat throughout her career, is a strong supporter of school choice (including vouchers), which appears to be the top K-12 priority for Trump. Rhee, however, who was D.C. schools chancellor from 2007 to 2010, is a Common Core supporter, a fact that does not mesh ...
San Francisco Teachers’ Union Provides Anti-Trump Curriculum: ‘Do Not Tell Them That We Have Lost’
Post Date: 2016-11-18 08:50:21 by cranky
The United Educators of San Francisco, the union that represents teachers in the citys public schools, released a controversial guide Wednesday to teaching public school children about Donald Trumps victory over Hillary Clinton in the recent election. The guide, called the Lesson Plan on the November 2016 Election, informs teachers that a racist and sexist man has become the president of our country by pandering to a huge racist and sexist base, and suggests they teach children the same.In fact, the lesson plan urges teachers not to tell students that Hillary Clinton lost the election (original emphasis): DO NOT: Tell them that we have LOST and that ...

San Francisco State To Launch Afro-Themed Dorm Floors
Post Date: 2016-09-20 10:04:44 by misterwhite
SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) New student housing designed for African-American students and culture is coming to San Francisco State University. African-American students make up just under 6 percent of the campus population and its unclear how many dorm rooms will be dedicated to African-American culture. University officials says the plans are in the very early stages. Last spring a cellphone video captured a racially-charged encounter at the SF State campus. In the video, an African-American woman is upset and gets physical with a white man about his dreadlocks. Now, campus officials are responding to demands from the Black Student Union to create a new space on campus where ...
'What is Aleppo?' asks U.S. Libertarian Party candidate
Post Date: 2016-09-10 07:55:04 by Gatlin
Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson framed an embarrassing lapse on foreign affairs as simple human error on Thursday after he responded to a question about a flashpoint in the Syrian civil war by asking, "What is Aleppo?" The gaffe came during an MSNBC interview about the continuing battle for Syria's biggest city, Aleppo, which has been divided for years into government and rebel sectors and has been in the news daily in recent weeks. "What would you do, if you were elected, about Aleppo," Johnson was asked. "About Aleppo. And what is Aleppo?" he responded. " You're kidding?" the MSNBC interviewer said. "No," ...

Investigative Reporter Greg Ciola interviews Rev. Bob Celeste about his use of Apricot kernels to overcome stage IV colon cancer. Bob was given only one choice; take chemotherapy or go home and die. Thanks to Bobs research in the 1990s while working to become a Reverend, he discovered apricot kernels as a modality to deal with cancer. Poster Comment:For anyone to now say that Apricot Kernels, Apricots, prayer and saliva don't work on cancer is asinine. I am living proof it works.Only a clinton supporter could be dumb enough to dispute that fact that I am alive.

Melania Trump didn't graduate from college as bio claims, reports say
Post Date: 2016-07-19 16:24:08 by Willie Green
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The controversy over Melania Trump's speech at the Republican National Convention has sparked questions about her background. Mrs. Trump's education, in particular, is at issue. Her bio on her official website states she graduated with a degree in design and architecture from "University in Slovenia." It's a claim that's been repeated by the Trump campaign and the RNC itself, in the convention's official program. However, the Slovenian writers of her biography wrote that Trump actually dropped out from the University of Ljubljana after her freshman year. Politico's Julia Ioffe wrote the same thing in a profile of the ...

Bank Street School for Children at 610 W. 112th St. in Manhattan. An elite Manhattan school is teaching white students as young as 6 that theyre born racist and should feel guilty benefiting from white privilege, while heaping praise and cupcakes on their black peers. Administrators at the Bank Street School for Children on the Upper West Side claim its a novel approach to fighting discrimination, and that several other private New York schools are doing it, but even liberal parents arent buying it. A slide from the Bank School shows the different goals for white children (right) and kids of color (left). They complain the K-8 school of 430 kids is ...

Post Date: 2016-06-08 14:25:16 by Willie Green
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (KSWO) - The Oklahoma State Department of Education recommended that schools not buy any textbooks because of lack of state funding. The department said lawmakers failed to appropriate funding for textbooks during the fiscal year beginning July 1st. State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister spoke out saying students will be forced to use "outdated and tattered school books held together by duct tape." The 13-member state textbook committee is expected to consider the recommendation of delaying textbook selection by a year at a special meeting later this month. Last fiscal year, $33 million was allocated for textbooks. Poster Comment:
Justice Thomas Urges Faith in World “Gone Mad With Political Correctness” (Hillsdale Commencement 2016)
Post Date: 2016-05-16 18:16:31 by Hondo68
Speaking at Hillsdale Colleges 164th Commencement on May 14, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas evoked the important lessons about life that he learned working on a farm as a boy in Georgia where work seemed to spring eternally. A key lesson that he learned was: One of the constantly conveyed messages was our obligation to take care of the land and to use it to produce food for ourselves and for others. If there was to be independence, self-sufficiency, or freedom then we had to first understand, accept, and then discharge our responsibilities
. The only guarantee was that if you did not discharge your responsibilities there could be no independence, no ...

AbstractThe present research investigates the associations between holding favorable views of potential Democratic or Republican candidates for the US presidency 2016 and seeing profoundness in bullshit statements. In this contribution, bullshit is used as a technical term which is defined as communicative expression that lacks content, logic, or truth from the perspective of natural science. We used the Bullshit Receptivity scale (BSR) to measure seeing profoundness in bullshit statements. The BSR scale contains statements that have a correct syntactic structure and seem to be sound and meaningful on first reading but are actually vacuous. Participants (N = 196; obtained via Amazon ...

Post Date: 2016-03-25 08:42:01 by IbJensen
Michigans Board of Education has drafted a set of guidelines that asks schools to allow students to make their own decisions regarding which bathrooms they use, the gender by which they want to be identified, and the names by which theyd like to be called. The guidelines, which seem to explicitly remove parents and doctors from the decision-making process, have been signed by State Superintendent Brian Whiston. The Daily Caller reports that the board quietly issued the statement and corresponding guidance on February 23 without a press release. The public has only until April 11 to comment on the guidance before the board finalizes it on May 10. The statement ...

Ohio professor keeps job despite spewing anti-Semitic hate on social media

A professor at a prestigious Ohio school still has her job despite a blitz of Facebook posts blaming Israel and Jews for everything from 9/11 to the creation of ISIS. Joy Karega, an assistant professor of "rhetoric and composition" at Oberlin College, claims the Jewish state secretly planned the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris and that its national intelligence agency, the Mossad, formed the terror group. Critics acknowledge that she is free to cling to kooky theories, but question why a school that charges students $50,000 per year would subject them to the ravings of a crackpot. Supreme Court may free teachers from forced union dues
Post Date: 2016-01-11 16:49:47 by Tooconservative
Monday the Supreme Court hears oral arguments in a case that could bring freedom from forced union fees to teachers and other public employees across the country. In Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association, Rebecca Friedrichs is asking for the right to choose whether to pay a labor union. Because California isnt a right-to-work state, she has to pay nearly $1,000 per year in union fees in order to teach. Those mandatory fees, the legal reasoning goes, are permissible because they cover costs CTA, CTAs local chapter, and the National Education Association incur representing nonmembers. Forced union fees cannot be spent on politics. ...
