Former Geneva priest Mark Campobello, who was convicted of molesting two girls, was released from prison Wednesday after serving about 16 months on a parole violation. State officials said Campobello was released from Logan Correctional Center in Lincoln and put on a train to Chicago. He must list his new address on the Illinois Sex Offender registry within three days. Campobello, 45, pleaded guilty in 2004 to molesting two girls, ages 14 and 15, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Geneva and Aurora Central Catholic High School in 1999 and 2000, respectively. After serving about 3½ years in prison, he was released in 2008, only to return two months later - and again in April 2009 - ...

Chapter 25: What about Satan and the Origin of Evil?
Post Date: 2010-07-29 23:45:51 by A K A Stone

Christians are often asked questions about Satan: Who is he? Was he created? When was he created? These and similar questions are valid questions to ask. To answer them, we need to carefully consider what the Bible says, since it is the only completely reliable source of information about Satan. The Bible doesn’t give much information about Satan or the angels, but it does give enough to answer some of these questions. God’s Word is infallible and the absolute authority, and we need to be leery of conclusions drawn from sources outside the Bible, such as man’s ideas or traditions. Let’s consider what the Bible says related to these questions. Who Is Satan and Was He ...

The unforgivable sin

The idea that there could be a sin so grievous to God that it will never be forgiven, is a very scary thing to most Christians. It is not uncommon for believers to question at one point or another, whether they have strayed so far from God as to have forfeited any hope of redemption. To further complicate the issue, there are more than a few believers who have reached and promote conclusions which are unsupported by scripture. This can lead to much needless worry on the part of believers. That there is a sin so heinous that God will not forgive it, is naturally something dreadful to Christians. Forgiveness lies at the heart of our faith. If there is indeed a sin unpardonable by God, we ...

Many doctrines espoused by the so called church, are clearly not supported by a plain reading of the Bible but are instead, propped up by false interpretations of God’s Word. Without exception, such false interpretations have been put in place to propagate a hidden theological agenda. This practice of the deceitful handling of the Word of God, is accepted by believers, who embrace such things because they are put forth by religious organizations who make a false claim of authority over their unwitting victims. In the end, it is the believers themselves who are to blame for trusting their chosen spiritual "experts," over the Word given to them by God. Read more>>

A gay priest sex scandal has rocked the Catholic Church in Italy today after a weekly news magazine released details of a shock investigation it had carried out. Using hidden cameras, a journalist from Panorama magazine - owned by Italian Prime Minister and media baron Silvio Berlusconi - filmed three priests as they attended gay nightspots and had casual sex. Today there was no immediate comment from the Italian Bishops Conference and the Vatican - which has been rocked by a series of sex scandals involving paedophile priests since the start of the year. A preview of the Panorama article sent out by email last night added that video footage from the investigation would be made available. ...

THE SECRET OF THREE RIGHTEOUS MEN

God always assists those who seek after him to live pure in heart, mind and spirit. For example, the prophet Ezekiel wrote about the terrible judgments that would come against Israel. He then spoke of three upright men, namely Job, Noah and Daniel. He informed his readers that these three men would be able to escape the coming judgment by their righteousness: “Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it: “Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their ...

The curse of legalism

It is practiced by nearly every faith and every denomination of Christianity. It is the means by which God’s word is perverted to propagate men’s agendas in the guise of sound doctrine. It can be appropriately called legalism. Although some rightly maintain that the practice of legalism is contrary to our freedom in Christ, the same individuals will cite scripture in legalistic fashion to support their cherished false doctrines, corrupt dogmas, and personal agendas. This legalistic interpretation of the Bible has led believers into the exact kind of spiritual bondage Christ died to free us from. Read more>>

Leviticus 20 1-5 Folks, nothing will change till politicians, judges, the corrupt media and especially the degenerate Christ denying clergy start paying with their lives. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, thou shalt say to the children of Israel: Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones. And I will set My face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile My sanctuary, and to profane My holy name. And if the people of the land do any ways ...

More than 200 years ago, the state of Virginia enacted a law which codified a most basic freedom: the freedom to worship as any man saw fit. Moreover, this law forbade the imposition by the state of religious thought or lack thereof, upon any man. In these modern times, an Atheistic mindset on the part of some people in government has allowed these values to fall by the wayside. Read more>>

Surrounded by imaginary enemies THE brutal raid on the freedom flotilla carrying humanitarian supplies that was trying to break the blockade of Gaza was bound to provoke outrage—and rightly so. The Israeli government arrogantly declared that Israel had the right to defend itself, in justification of the massacre of unarmed humanitarians. And this ” right to defend itself ” jazz seemed as some kind of ” reverse logic”, to almost everybody who were following the updates of this terrible incident on TV screens, including the people with impartial view on the Arab – Israeli conflict, but this Israeli raid somehow helped them to take sides. The pre-tribulation rapture: fact or fiction?

It’s a veritable cash cow. It sells books, tape sets, movies and tee shirts. It’s taught from the pulpits. It’s propounded by pastors, theologians and Bible teachers alike. Though the word appears nowhere in the Bible, they call it, “the rapture.” That such an event as the believers being caught up to Christ is taught in the Bible can be shown. The problem with how this event is being peddled to the ignorant believers is a matter of timing. The Bible does teach such an event will occur, after a time of great trouble, not before. Why Is God’s Character Important?

“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:20-21) Today’s big question: why is God’s character important? When Moses was told by God to go to Pharaoh and ask him to release the people of Israel from bondage, he went to deliver a message that he knew would not be well received. Moses anticipated the logical question that the Egyptians would ask of him, so he asked it of God: “who shall I say has sent me?” Whether it’s a big claim, request, or even command, the strength is found only in its ...

John Paul ‘ignored abuse of 2,000 boys’

When John Paul II died five years ago the crowd that packed St Peter’s Square for his funeral clamoured “Santo subito (Saint now)!” in a spontaneous tribute to the charisma of the Polish pontiff. As the faithful marked the anniversary of John Paul’s death on Good Friday, however, he was being drawn into the scandal over child abuse in the Catholic church that has confronted his successor, Benedict XVI, with the worst crisis of his reign. Allegations that the late pontiff blocked an inquiry into a paedophile cardinal, promoted senior church figures despite accusations that they had molested boys and covered up innumerable cases of abuse during his 26-year papacy have ...

Bible ignored, trainer dies (Tillikum should be stoned to death)

You are aware by now that a 12,000 pound killer whale at SeaWorld Orlando killed his trainer Dawn Brancheau yesterday by pulling her into a pool and dragging her around until she drowned, in front of a crowd of stunned guests. Chalk another death up to animal rights insanity and to the ongoing failure of the West to take counsel on practical matters from the Scripture. According to the Orlando Sentinel, "SeaWorld Orlando has always know that Tillikum...could be a particularly dangerous killer whale...because of his ominous history." The Sentinel then recounts that Tilly, as he was affectionately known, had killed a trainer back in 1991 in front of spectators at a now defunct ...

What Is “Presuppositional” Apologetics?
Post Date: 2010-02-09 18:16:36 by A K A Stone

When explaining their beliefs, Christians often feel they must first prove the Bible or prove the existence of God. This approach reveals that they do not yet understand the Bible’s approach, known as presuppositional apologetics. Presuppositions are simply beliefs that everyone has that affect how they think, view the world, interpret evidence, and read the Bible. Apologetics is a reasoned defense of beliefs. So presuppositional apologetics is a reasoned defense of Christian beliefs based on recognizing our presuppositions. For instance, my presupposition is that God exists and He has given us His Word (the Bible) that is absolute truth. So I use the Bible as the basis for how to ...

Was Satan the Actual Serpent in the Garden?

This interpretation primarily comes from Revelation 12:9 and 20:2 without much regard to other passages, such as Genesis 3. Revelation 12:9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 20:2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; These verses give excellent information about Satan and his many names as well as his involvement back in Eden, being the serpent of old. But does this eliminate that he used a real serpent? Not necessarily. The whole of Scripture needs to be ...
