Digging Deeper into Scripture: John 14:1–14
Post Date: 2023-05-03 20:11:38 by Charles_Byrd
Having just passed my fiftieth birthday, I am well into adulthood. I noticed several years ago that I not only look but also behave like my father. My hands are an excellent example. The shape of my fingers resembles his, as do my fingernails and wrinkles. Even more interesting is that when driving, I place my hands on the steering wheel in the same places he did. This happened naturally since he was deceased before I learned to drive. There are a myriad of other examples in both appearance and behavior. The point is that beyond my birth certificate, there is evidence that I am my fathers son. Jesus connection to the Father is of paramount importance in the Gospel reading. ...

Can you recall a time when someone assured you that something would happen, and eventually it did? Your mother assures you that continued misbehavior will result in punishment. Your friend claims that the Cleveland Browns will win the Super Bowl, and they do. Your doctor assures you that losing weight will bring down your cholesterol and sugar numbers, and so they drop. The women who went to the tomb that first Easter morning had a similar experience. Jesus had repeatedly promised He would be delivered in the hands of sinful men, be crucified, and on the third day rise. However certain the assurances are in the given examples above, they are only what is probable. Jesus gave a promise, and ...

The Offence of the Cross [Full Thread]
Post Date: 2022-03-30 07:34:28 by watchman
The Offence of the Cross And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. Gal. v. 11. THE religion of Jesus is the most peaceful, mild, and benevolent religion which was ever promulgated. When we compare it with any set of dogmas invented by men, there is not one of them that can stand the least comparison with it for gentleness, mildness, and love. As for the religion of Mahomet, it is the religion of the vulture; but the religion of Jesus is that of the dove, all is mercy, all is mild; it is, like its Founder, an embodiment of pure benevolence, grace, and truth. And yet, strange to say, ...

1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. 6And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the ...

Post Date: 2021-05-31 13:00:36 by Gatlin
3 Ways We Can Pray for Our Nation We have never been where we are today as a nation. While division abounds in almost every segment of America, it is time to cry out to God in prayer for America. No longer can the people of God be silent before the Lord. We need to call out to God passionately and urgently until the glory of God is experienced in every corner of our nation. Share these prayer needs with every spiritual leader, church, and Christ follower in America and across the world. Lets come together and pray in agreement for these three urgent requests and prayer priorities in America. [
What Christmas Is Really All About
Post Date: 2020-12-22 09:50:52 by A K A Stone
The Christmas classic ballet, The Nutcracker, spins the tale of an animated wooden nutcracker, whose fight against the evil Mouse King transforms him back to his true form, a prince. Beloved by many, the fable chronicles the story of its protagonist, Claras, realization that theres a world beyond the only one shes ever known: one thats controlled by an evil king: the same evil king that the heroic nutcracker, who has taken on an entirely different nature to do so, eventually defeats. Of course, the actual Christmas story is far more miraculous and magnificent. Rather than just an amusing fantasy dreamt up to warm childrens hearts, its the description of ...

"Not Peace, but a Sword" (Sermon on Matthew 10:34-42)
Post Date: 2020-06-28 07:48:10 by A K A Stone
Not Peace, but a Sword (Matthew 10:34-42) You are in a battle. It is a battle every Christian is called upon to fight, from the time we are baptized till the day we die. There is no opting out. You are engaged in this battle whether you realize it or not. So the thing to do is to fight it well. And that means we need help. For on our own we would not be strong enough to prevail. What is this battle? The one Im referring to today is a battle from without, that is, from the world attacking us Christians. Oh, there is also a battle from within, namely, our own sinful flesh fighting against the new persons we are in Christ. Both of these battles, the conflict from without ...
The Dark Side
Post Date: 2020-06-16 07:27:45 by Gatlin
The Dark Side This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light, because their deeds were evil. John 3:19 The Dark Side Simply saying those words in this day and age evokes images of a creature in all black breathing heavily through a mask. His name is Darth Vader. Star Wars is a classic battle between good and evil. It has filled Hollywood screens and home theatres for more than 40 years now. It debuted in 1977 and to this day is still one of the best sellers of all time. The sequels are even outpacing the originals. Lets face it; nothing will draw people to the movies quicker than an epic good vs. evil flick. In ...
The Bible according to Pelosi
Post Date: 2020-06-02 21:22:33 by Hondo68
Pelosi Reads From Bible, Calls on Trump to Be 'Healer in Chief' House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called on President Donald Trump to be a "healer in chief" and not a "fanner of the flame" as the nation reels from mass protests over the treatment of black people in the United States. Reading from Bible scripture at the Capitol, Pelosi drew on past presidents including George H.W. Bush speaking in the aftermath of the Rodney King unrest and Barack Obama following the death of Eric Garner as models of the nation's executive at a time of crisis. "We would hope that the president of the United States would follow the lead of so many presidents ...

Post Date: 2020-05-18 10:10:49 by Hondo68
A church building looks out on an empty parking lot as in-person assemblies are canceled due to the Coronavirus epidemic. All across the U.S. small businesses are failing because they closed down during the COVID-19 situation. In some sectors, such as the restaurant industry, it is estimated that more than 50% of these small businesses will never re-open. Today I am going to write about one of the largest groups of small businesses that have also been hit hard by closing down during this crisis the American Christian Church. Warning About Reading this Article This will not be one of the more popular articles I have written on the COVID-19 situation. If you call yourself a ...
