Iraq leans toward Russia in war on Islamic State

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq may request Russian air strikes against Islamic State on its soil soon and wants Moscow to have a bigger role than the United States in the war against the militant group, the head of parliament's defense and security committee said on Wednesday. “In the upcoming few days or weeks, I think Iraq will be forced to ask Russia to launch air strikes, and that depends on their success in Syria," Hakim al-Zamili, a leading Shi'ite politician, told Reuters in an interview. The comments were the clearest signal yet that Baghdad intends to lean on Russia in the war on Islamic State after U.S.-led coalition airstrikes produced limited results. Russian ...

Perth electrical engineer’s discovery will change climate change debate

A MATHEMATICAL discovery by Perth-based electrical engineer Dr David Evans may change everything about the climate debate, on the eve of the UN climate change conference in Paris next month. A former climate modeller for the Government’s Australian Greenhouse Office, with six degrees in applied mathematics, Dr Evans has unpacked the architecture of the basic climate model which underpins all climate science. He has found that, while the underlying physics of the model is correct, it had been applied incorrectly. He has fixed two errors and the new corrected model finds the climate’s sensitivity to carbon dioxide (CO2) is much lower than was thought. Miranda Devine. Picture: ...

Russia fires missiles from warships into Syria amid new escalation

Russian warships fired a volley of cruise missiles into Syria from the Caspian Sea on Wednesday as Russian-backed Syrian government troops launched a ground offensive to crush rebel forces opposing the regime of President Bashar Assad. The missile strikes mark a major escalation of Russia's recent involvement in Syria's long civil war and a growing threat to a faltering U.S. policy in Syria. Russia said four warships carried out 26 missile strikes from the Caspian Sea, destroying 11 targets more than 900 miles away. The missiles crossed Iranian and Iraqi airspace to reach their targets. Russian President Vladimir Putin is backing longtime ally Assad in his 4- year-old civil war ...

The Refugee Threat

A major threat to American national security is rampant population growth in many parts of the world. Population increases were curtailed throughout history by disease, famine, and war. Efforts by civilized nations to curb deaths in the uncivilized world have been successful, yet these poor nations cannot absorb the resulting population explosion. The conflict in Kosovo was caused by immigration from rapidly growing Albania. Perpetual fighting in Africa is the result of millions of homeless people wandering about. Discontent in the Muslim world is fueled by a population growing faster than national economies. All Americans are aware of the immigration problems caused by high birth rates in ...

The Gog Of Turkey “Erdogan” Threatens The Crusader Of Russia “Putin” (The Tension Between Russia And Turkey Is Escalating)

The Gog of Turkey, president Recep Tayyip Erdoan, said his country could not endure Russian violations any longer of its airspace in its campaign in Syria. Russian involvement in the 4½-year-old Syrian civil war seems to be escalating, with NATO’s secretary general confirming Tuesday a second incursion by Russian planes into Turkish airspace and saying Russian ground troops were in Syria as well. The first violation of Turkey’s airspace is reported to have happened Saturday. The second was Sunday, officials said. Now even CNN says: The tension between Russia and Turkey, however, appears to be escalating. The two countries are at odds over the civil war in Syria, ...

Denmark moves toward nationalism in face of migrant crisis [Danish Nazi rampage]

Yesterday we looked at how the migrant crisis in Europe was affecting Norway and forcing their leaders to look at new restrictions and possible border control measures. Anyone who is keeping an eye on the effect that all of these “economic refugees” and potential terrorists is having on the world and how it may come to affect the United States next year should be watching closely. The same questions are now hitting home in Denmark, where the ruling coalition under Prime Minister Lars Rasmussen has moved quickly to take steps which will cut social welfare benefits to the incoming horde. This is clearly designed to make Denmark a less attractive destination for the migrants, and if ...

CLAIM: ‘NO BORDERS’ ACTIVIST GANG RAPED BY MIGRANTS, PRESSURED INTO SILENCE TO NOT ‘DAMAGE CAUSE’

A young, female ‘No Borders’ activist working in a migrant camp on the France-Italy border remained silent about her gang rape by Sudanese migrants for over a month because “the others asked me to keep quiet.” Colleagues are alleged to have said that reporting the crime would set back their struggle for a borderless world. The ‘No Borders’ activist had dedicated a month of her life to helping migrants. Her group was stationed between Italy and France in Ponte San Ludovico in Ventimiglia when the atrocity occurred, according to reports from local papers La Stampa and Il Secolo XIX, and now reported in the major Italian national Corriere Della Serra. Having established a base on the Syrian coast, Vladimir Putin last week began air strikes on ISIS and other rebel forces seeking to overthrow Bashar Assad. A longtime ally of Syria, Russia wants to preserve its toehold on the Mediterranean, help Assad repel the threat, and keep the Islamic terrorists out of Damascus. Russia is also fearful that the fall of Assad would free up the Chechen terrorists in Syria to return to Russia. In intervening to save Assad, Putin is doing exactly what we are doing to save our imperiled allies in Baghdad and Kabul. Yet Putin’s intervention has ignited an almost berserk reaction. John McCain has called for sending the Free Syrian Army ...

Egypt says Russia’s anti-terror airstrikes in Syria will restrict the spread of terrorism and deal a major blow to the Daesh group in the violence-torn Arab country. “Russia’s entrance, given its potential and capabilities, is something we see is going to have an effect on limiting terrorism in Syria and eradicating it,” said Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in a televised interview broadcast on Saturday. Shoukry’s remarks are the latest sign of a thaw in relations between Russia and Egypt. During Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s official visit to Russia in August, Cairo and Moscow called for forming a coalition to counter terrorism in the ...

Russia intensified its bombardment of militant targets in Syria with warplanes flying more than 20 missions, as U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron joined calls for Moscow to change course in an intervention he described as a “grave mistake.” The Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday that 10 Islamic State positions in Syria had been attacked in the past 24 hours, including militant training camps in Raqqa and Idlib provinces. Russian strikes have broken “the management and logistics of the terrorist organization” and caused “significant damage to the infrastructure used for preparation of terrorist attacks,” the ministry said on its website. 450 militants turn themselves in to Syrian authorities

Reports say hundreds of militants have turned themselves in to authorities in southern Syria. State news agency, SANA reported that about 400 and 50 gunmen gave up their arms and handed them over to officials in Dara'a province. 200 and 50 wanted people also did the same as part of the government’s national reconciliation efforts. The weapons handed over include rocket launchers, machine guns and sniper rifles. Many militants have in the past broken ranks with their groups and joined Syrian forces fighting terrorist groups. Looks like Putin has a winning war strategy. Not bad for a couple of days of targetting the bad guys.

How 7 years of Obama brought the world from Kumbaya to chaos

Just three years ago, President Obama famously ridiculed GOP opponent Mitt Romney’s statement that Russia remained America’s main geopolitical foe by taunting: “The 1980s are calling to ask for their foreign policy back.” Four years before that, Obama stood at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate to declare that once he became president, all people would join him around a global campfire, hold hands and put an end to the world’s evils and miseries. Well, seven years into Obama’s presidency, the promised worldwide Kumbaya is instead global chaos — caused in large measure by his willful retreat from America’s position of leadership. Washington’s ...

McCain: Trump doesn't understand Syria

Washington (CNN)—Sen. John McCain says that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump doesn't understand the problems posed by Russia's new role in the Syrian conflict. "I don't think he understands very well the situation. And he's entitled to his opinion," the Arizona Republican said Sunday in an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union." McCain was pushing back against Trump's assertion last week that the United States should let ISIS and Syria's army fight -- and let Russia worry about ISIS there. Trump's comment came as Russia launched air strikes in the region. "Do we want to keep slaughtering people in ...

On the night of Dec. 5, 1989, Vladimir V. Putin, then a lieutenant colonel in the K.G.B., watched with alarm as thousands of East Germans in Dresden swarmed the riverside compound of the dreaded secret police, the Stasi. The Berlin Wall had been breached the month before, and the Communist government that had ruled East Germany since the end of World War II gasped its last breaths as protesters took to the streets across the country. The young officer and future Russian president, just 37 at the time, could only stand by helplessly at the K.G.B.’s Dresden outpost a few hundred feet away. The takeover of the Stasi headquarters was relatively peaceful, but in Mr. Putin’s mind the ...

(CNN)—Russia is intensifying its airstrikes in Syria, which it says have "considerably reduced" the combat potential of militants. The Russian air force began strikes in Syria on Wednesday. In the past 24 hours, it has carried out 20 flights targeting 10 ISIS positions in Idlib province, the Russian Defense Ministry announced in a statement Sunday. Since 2011, Syria has been torn apart by a brutal civil war that has seen the rise of extremist groups including ISIS. Moscow supports the regime of President Bashar al-Assad and says it is targeting ISIS, al Nusra and "other terrorist groups." As Russian fighter jets target al-Qaeda and ISIS in Syria, the Western media is up in arms – and in denial. They deny the Russians are taking on ISIS – and they are indignant that Putin is targeting al-Qaeda, which is almost never referred to by its actual name, but is instead described as “al- Nusra,” or the more inclusive “Army of Conquest,” which are alternate names for the heirs of Osama bin Laden. And there are no ideological lines being drawn in this information war: both the left and the right – e.g. the left-liberal Vox and the Fox News network – are utilizing a map put out by the neoconservative “Institute for the Study of War” to ...
