In an extensive article on the issue, the daily, which is published in the state of Quintana Roo, affirms that at least three of these organizations have been completely identified, PL reported. The article explains that this is a mafia sponsored by the so-called Cuban-American National Foundation (CANF), based in Miami, Florida, in the United States, from which terrorist actions against Cuba are directed. The newspaper identifies three of the ...

They're alive: miracle in Tasmania Post Date: 2006-04-30 15:33:03 by A K A Stone

TWO goldminers trapped underground and feared dead for five days were found alive last night as a Tasmanian town's grim vigil ended in an astounding story of survival and celebration. "They're alive, they're alive, they're alive," cried Todd Russell's mother, Kaye, as she ran to the Uniting Church in Beaconsfield, where townspeople were praying for Mr Russell, 34, and Brant Webb, 37. Mr Russell's father was able to speak to his son as rescuers inched closer to freeing them. The national secretary of the Australian Workers Union, Bill Shorten, said: "The father has spoken to the son by radio phone. They are wedged under a rock. They have spoken to a doctor - they are in ...

General Motors has picked out a location for a new factory near St. Petersburg and is set to submit an application to the city government within the next two weeks, a local official said Thursday. The U.S. carmaker looked at several sites but has chosen Shushary, just outside St. Petersburg, an official in the city's economic development department said. The official requested anonymity, citing ongoing negotiations. "They are preparing an application," he said. "They came to the conclusion that [Shushary] suited them." Mark Kempe, a spokesman for GM Europe, on Thursday confirmed that the company was interested in "extending, not replacing" its presence in ...

WASHINGTON - Three human rights groups said Wednesday that they had found credible evidence that U.S. troops and government civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, had abused, tortured or killed at least 460 detainees. The researchers said they had found 330 cases of abuse and that only about half of them had been fully investigated, and one-third never were investigated or remained unresolved. The findings are in a report by New York University's Center for Human Rights and Global Justice, Human Rights First and Human Rights Watch. At least 600 U.S. service members or civilians have been implicated in the cases of abuse. About 400 of them have been investigated, and only ...
If Past Is Prologue, George Bus Is Becoming An Increasingly Dangerous President Post Date: 2006-04-25 02:03:12 by Coral Snake

If Past Is Prologue, George Bus Is Becoming An Increasingly Dangerous President By John W. Dean 4-21-6 President George W. Bush's presidency is a disaster - one that's still unfolding. In a mid-2004 column, I argued that, at that point, Bush had already demonstrated that he possessed the least attractive and most troubling traits among those that political scientist James Dave Barber has cataloged in his study of Presidents' personality types. Now, in early 2006, Bush has continued to sink lower in his public approval ratings, as the result of a series of events that have sapped the public of confidence in its President, and for which he is directly responsible. This Administration goes ...
Shortage of Virgins Islam? Try Liberal Dogma! (REPOST) Post Date: 2006-04-22 11:16:34 by alwaysontheright

European cartoonists <>http://muhammadcartoons.com/> <>http://muhammadcartoons.com/> have stirred up a controversy satirizing Muhammed, the Muslim prophet. One of the more creative panels shows the Prophet looking down from heaven at a long line of suicide bombers, pleading for them to stop because "We have run out of virgins!" What the Prophet really needs is a Howard Dean to implement liberal dogma: - Redistribution of Wealth: Rewarding each suicide bomber with 72 virgins is obscene, especially since disadvantaged (non-Martyr) Muslims are forced to survive with far fewer. A progressive formula for equitable redistribution of wealth is required to level ...
U.S. to release Pollard Post Date: 2006-04-15 23:34:22 by A K A Stone

Israel Army Radio reported today that the U.S. has agreed to release imprisoned Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard in exchange for the release of Fatah leader and convicted murderer Marwan Barghouti, who is serving multiple life terms for his role in killing five Israeli civilians. A similar proposal in 2004, reported by WorldNetDaily, was rejected by Washington and Pollard, himself. According to today's reports, Israel is prepared to offer the proposed exchange to the Palestinian Authority within the next few months. Observers see the release of Barghouti as an attempt by Israel to strengthen the Fatah movement against the new government led by Hamas. Marwan Barghouti Barghouti, now a ...
Is Barnett Bush's Secret Architect? Post Date: 2006-04-10 05:09:10 by Coral Snake

Is Barnett Bush's Secret Architect? By Ted Twietmeyer tedtw@frontiernet.net 4-9-6 Dr. Thomas P.M. Barnett (Google Images) While doing some recent research I came across Barnett's blog. He actually responds to almost every post on his website - like some kind of evangelist or a boy sticking his fingers in the proverbial dike. For readers not familiar with Dr. Barnett, he is a political scientist who works for the Pentagon and wrote the book "The Pentagon's New Roadmap." Naturally, [controlled] editors have given him high praise. The rest of us "peons" can readily see it for it truly is, and the title of his book says it all. In past articles I've briefly referred to ...
Plane carrying House members fired on with Russian missile Post Date: 2006-04-09 01:12:11 by A K A Stone

Three congressman have confirmed they were aboard a C-130 flight to Kuwait from Iraq in January when they were attacked by a sophisticated Russian SA-18 shoulder-fired missile that required the U.S. plane to employ high-technology countermeasures to avoid being hit. They were lucky the leased commercial aircraft transporting troops aren't equipped to with those sophisticated countermeasures. Reps. Jeb Bradley, R-N.H., John Spratt, D-S.C., and Neil Abercrombie, D-Hawaii, confirmed the incident to The San Francisco Chronicle. They were part of a six-member delegation of the House Armed Services Committee, led by Rob Simmons, R-Conn. Missile attacks on Air Force transports flying in ...

Serge Brammertz will meet Syrian leader Bashar Assad on Sunday. UN progress reports have implicated Syria in the murder of Mr Hariri but Damascus denies any involvement. It will be the first time the Syrian President Bashar Assad has met UN investigators since the probe started last summer. Syria criticised The UN team formally made a request to see Mr Assad in January after the defection of Syria's former vice-president, Abdel Halim Khaddam, who has alleged that President Assad was involved in the murder of Rafik Hariri. The Bush administration is planning to use nuclear weapons against Iran, to prevent it acquiring its own atomic warheads, claims an investigative writer with high-level Pentagon and intelligence contacts. President George W Bush is said to be so alarmed by the threat of Iran's hard-line leader, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, that privately he refers to him as "the new Hitler", says Seymour Hersh, who broke the story of the Abu Ghraib Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal. Mahmoud Ahmedinejad Mahmoud Ahmedinejad: 'The new Hitler' Some US military chiefs have unsuccessfully urged the White House to drop the nuclear option from its war plans, Hersh writes in The New Yorker magazine. The conviction ...
Mayors Could Lose Their Powers: Russia Post Date: 2006-04-04 22:27:33 by A K A Stone

The State Duma Council on Thursday will discuss United Russia-drafted legislation that would allow governors to confiscate powers from mayors who manage their cities poorly. The amendments promise to provoke consternation among liberal politicians and Western leaders, both of whom have expressed concern that the Kremlin is rolling back democracy by eliminating gubernatorial elections and scrapping individual races for the State Duma, among other things. The latest measure, political analysts said, is a sign that the Kremlin wants to make sure that leaders from the municipal level on up will guarantee a good showing for United Russia in the Duma elections next year and a smooth handover of ...

To: President Bush and Members of the US Congress Each of you has taken an oath to uphold the US Constitution, and to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Your authority to govern We the People is contingent on fulfilling that solemn oath. You serve at the will of We the People; you have no other claim to power. The American people intend to hold each of you responsible for meeting the conditions of your oath of office. Mexico is obviously a foreign nation. Mexico is also a third-world, socialist nation, which because of corruption, greed, and incompetence, is unable to feed, educate, and provide minimal health care to its citizens. Rather than reforming the political ...
Venezuelans Train for Civilian Militias Post Date: 2006-04-03 07:37:56 by A K A Stone

The women, some trembling, grasp the assault rifles and awkwardly lower themselves into sniper positions as they take aim and fire at white targets in the distance. Dressed in jeans and sneakers, the women are the unlikely heart of a new civilian militia being trained as Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez warns his country must be ready for a "war of resistance" against the United States. The U.S. government dismisses Chavez's claims of a possible invasion as ridiculous. But Chavez insists Venezuelans must be prepared for anything, citing a short-lived 2002 coup that briefly unseated him. Housewives, students, construction workers, social workers and many unemployed have signed up ...
Chávez seeks to peg oil at $50 a barrel Post Date: 2006-04-03 00:05:48 by A K A Stone

Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez is poised to launch a bid to transform the global politics of oil by seeking a deal with consumer countries which would lock in a price of $50 a barrel. A long-term agreement at that price could allow Venezuela to count its huge deposits of heavy crude as part of its official reserves, which Caracas says would give it more oil than Saudi Arabia. "We have the largest oil reserves in the world, we have oil for 200 years." Mr Chávez told the BBC's Newsnight programme in an interview to be broadcast tonight. "$50 a barrel - that's a fair price, not a high price." Chávez seeks to peg oil at $50 a barrel · Price ...

THE EDITOR, Sir: IT IS generally accepted that the distribution of wealth in Jamaica is far from equal. There are a number of persons who may not even be aware of some of their bank accounts, while some persons do not have what it takes to start one. When it comes to having a meal, some persons are confused because they have too much to choose from, while others are confused because there is nothing to choose from. This discrepancy has caused many persons to play the blame game. The onus to make things better is many times placed at the feet of the Government, sometimes at the feet of the private sector, and at other times the less fortunate are blamed for the predicament in which they ...
PA Foreign Minister: ‘No Place’ for Israel on Middle East Map Post Date: 2006-04-02 23:28:14 by A K A Stone

The Palestinian Authoritys new foreign minister, Mahmoud Al-Zahar of the Hamas told Xinhua, Chinas official news agency, that he envisions a map of the Middle East that does not have Israel on it. Al-Zahar, who took office last week with the swearing in of the PAs new Hamas government, said, "I dream of hanging a huge map of the world on the wall at my Gaza home which does not show Israel on it." Al-Zahars statement echoes that of Iranian Prime Minister Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in which he vowed to wipe Israel off the map. "I hope
to have our independent state on all historic Palestine (including Israel)," he said. The Hamas ...
Australia and China sign deal on uranium trade Post Date: 2006-04-02 23:16:31 by A K A Stone

CANBERRA - Australia and China signed a nuclear safeguards deal today to allow Beijing to import Australian uranium for power generation, but an Australian minister said exports were unlikely to start for some years.
The deal was signed in the presence of visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Australian Prime Minister John Howard.
China is expected to build 40 to 50 nuclear power plants over the next 20 years and needs steady supplies of uranium.
Australia has about 40 per cent of the world's known uranium reserves, but it only allows sales to countries which have signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) who also agree to a separate bilateral safeguards deal.
But it ...

The bullet-riddled body of a Moscow region mayor was found in a children's playground close to his home early Friday in what prosecutors believe was a contract murder. Dzerzhinsky Mayor Viktor Dorkin was walking home at around midnight after speaking on live television when he was apparently attacked by two men with handguns, Channel One television reported, citing investigators. Dorkin was shot 10 times in the head and four times in the chest, Channel One said. Dorkin rarely traveled with bodyguards, according to media reports. Dorkin's body was discovered at around 3 a.m. in a playground, said a spokeswoman for the Moscow region prosecutor's office. Dorkin, 52, had since 1991 ...

WUHU, China - If the 20th was the American century, the 21st may belong to China. Just five years into it, China has become the worlds third-largest trader, one of its fastest-growing economies, a rising military power in Northeast Asia and a global player extending its influence in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Americans and people around the globe can feel the effects of China's voracious appetite for resources and the enormous output of its factories, staffed by an endless stream of migrants who toil for $2 a day churning out low-cost goods, undercutting foreign competitors and upending the low-end global work force. The world has never seen a nation as big as China ...

What would happen if a world-renowned scientist and evolutionary ecologist told hundreds of his colleagues that 90 percent of the human race needed to be wiped out by exposure to ebola or some other deadly virus? Apparently, according to a scientist who claims to have witnessed such a remarkable event one month ago, the fiend would get a standing ovation and an award. Forrest Mims III That's the story being told by Forrest Mims III, a member of the Texas Academy of Science, chairman of its environmental science section and editor of the Citizen Scientist. Told You So by Charley Reese Every day that passes, Americans will be less welcomed in Iraq, and I wouldn't take lightly the warning of an Iraqi cleric who said, "You should leave before we force you out." An army that won't fight is one thing. Twenty million people willing to stab you in the back, cut your throat or toss a grenade in your soup are quite another. Our Army is trained and equipped to fight set battles against other armies. It is not trained to cope with a hostile civilian population. It will not do well, and if we insist on staying, the Iraqis will force us out, just as the Lebanese forced the Israeli army out. And remember, life isn't a TV show. The plot ...
