THE Government will allow more American aircraft carrying arms to Israel to stop over in Britain despite private concerns that the Pentagon was playing fast and loose. The US has asked the Government to let two aircraft with missiles and bombs on board stop at Prestwick in the next fortnight. However, Labour MPs are furious with the US for breaking the rules governing the use of British airports as staging posts when demands on Israel for a ceasefire in Lebanon are growing stronger. The Times has been told that two aircraft that landed at Prestwick last weekend carrying bunker-busting bombs had been designated as civilian flights and that the US failed to notify ...

United Nations & Hezbollah flags flying side by side at the Lebanese Observation post where four UN "observers" three from Ghana and one Chinese were reportedly killed by someone. Reports originally stated that the observation post, which had been there for 28-years, was hit by Hezbollah rockets but anti-Israel sources quickly stated that an Israeli smart bomb had destroyed it. Either scenario is possible. Hezbollah could have beeen worried that the UN observers "might" (though very doubtful based on UN track record) report Hezbollah movements to the Israelis. Africans from Ghana and a Chinese would prefer to support Israel and let down their Hezbollah neighbors ...

Russian Military Analysts are reporting today that the United States Military Leaders have issued an order to their propaganda media outlets to immediately cease reporting on American Troop Movements, and which these reports state are massive. This latest American move is in apparent response to the expansion of the present Middle East war, and which many are calling World War III, with Syria having issued an ultimatum to the United States and Israel to an immediate halt to the fighting and an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, and which neither action the Americans or Israelis are likely to heed. In response to both American and Israeli failing to heed this ...

Condi: Warrior princess comes to town Post Date: 2006-07-24 23:31:50 by A K A Stone

The warrior princess Condoleezza Rice began her trip to the Middle East so nonchalantly that it made everyone wonder what is really going on behind the scenes. It seems that she had been waiting until Israel completed the destruction of much of Lebanons civilian infrastructure, an assault which it initiated after receiving the green light from the U.S. administration. Ironically, after the murder of about 400 hundred people, mostly civilians, and billions of dollars in damage, she said a ceasefire is urgent. She also said she would not try to restore the status quo which existed before the ongoing conflict. "What we're seeing here, in a sense, is

THE NEWS IS filled these days with reports of civilian casualties, comparative civilian body counts and criticism of Israel, along with Hezbollah, for causing the deaths, injuries and "collective punishment" of civilians. But just who is a "civilian" in the age of terrorism, when militants don't wear uniforms, don't belong to regular armies and easily blend into civilian populations? We need a new vocabulary to reflect the realities of modern warfare. A new phrase should be introduced into the reporting and analysis of current events in the Middle East: "the continuum of civilianality." Though cumbersome, this concept aptly captures the reality and nuance of ...
At the border, Israelis face `serious' adversary Post Date: 2006-07-24 23:01:39 by A K A Stone

ROSH HANIKRA, Israel - Bleary-eyed and caked with dust after more than a week inside Lebanon, two Israeli tank crews wolfed down a quick lunch Sunday at this commanding point on Israel's northern border. Beneath them stretched the northern Israeli coastline and in the distance, the cities of Nahariya, Acco and Haifa, which have been hit daily by rockets fired by Hezbollah militants in Lebanon during a 12-day-old Israeli offensive there. The muffled booms of Israeli artillery pounding southern Lebanon could be heard over the ridge, and overhead, the whistle of an incoming rocket or mortar round fired by militants across the border, followed by a thunderous crash. The tank crews had just ...

BEIRUT/SIDON: Israeli warplanes continued their bombardment of Lebanon on Sunday, killing at least eight and wounding 45, as Hizbullah gave the Lebanese government the green light to negotiate on its behalf for a prisoner swap with Israel. Any swap would include the two Israeli soldiers captured by Hizbullah in a cross-border raid on July 12, and Lebanese and Arab prisoners in Israeli jails. "The Lebanese government will lead the exchange through the intermediary of a third party. This has been accepted by Hizbullah," Speaker Nabih Berri said Sunday. It was not immediately known who the third party would be. Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh said Sunday that the two Israeli ...

After acquiring land where they could build a house of worship, local Christians in the Ethiopian town of Yebu faced heavy opposition. Numerous times, local Muslims had warned the Christians that if they did not stop evangelizing, they would be attacked. As a result, Christians decided to postpone the construction of their church until midnight on July 2, 2006. The very next day, on July 3rd, a militant Muslim mob carried out their threat after the project was underway. The mob waylaid workers and demolished the entire building, stealing the materials to build their own structure. Christians in this 98-percent Muslim town managed to stop the assault before the whole building was torched. ...

A Syrian minister warned Israel in an interview published Sunday that a major ground incursion into Lebanon would draw his country into the Middle East conflict. "If Israel makes a land entry into Lebanon, they can get to within 20 kilometres (12 miles) of Damascus," Information Minister Moshen Bilal told the Spanish newspaper ABC. "What will we do? Stand by with our arms folded? Absolutely not. Without any doubt Syria will intervene in the conflict." Bilal said Syria wanted above all a ceasefire "as soon as possible" combined with a prisoner exchange and indicated he was working to that end with Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, whom he met in ...

By EFRAIM KARSH At a time when more than half of the American public believes the Iraq war has not made the United States safer, and nearly two-thirds says it is not worth fighting anymore, one needs a good deal of intellectual courage to describe the war as "noble." But then, Fouad Ajami, a professor of Middle East studies at Johns Hopkins University, has never shied away from speaking his mind, even if it meant digressing from the received wisdom. He did so for the first time some 25 years ago in "The Arab Predicament," a scathing indictment of pan-Arabism, and has been challenging the cliches of Middle East scholarship ever since. Now Mr. Ajami takes on the latest ...

We are at WAR with ISLAM, the sooner we ACCEPT the TRUTH the sooner we will WIN! Islam is the enemy and terror is a bi-product of this enemy we face. The sooner we accept who the enemy is the way to victory will become clear. Lets review just a little. 911 attack, Danny Pearl, Christians and Americans beheaded. Either we define the real enemy now or we don't as our very survival depends on it. It is the very same survival that Israel has been fighting against and we best let them help without saying stop stop. We only help the ...

Civil war spreads across Iraq as bomb at Shia mosque kills 59 A civil war between Sunni and Shia Muslims is spreading rapidly through central Iraq, with each community seeking revenge for the latest massacre. Yesterday a suicide bomber driving a van packed with explosives blew himself up outside the golden-domed mosque in Kufa, killing at least 59 and injuring more than 130 Shia. In the past 10 days, while the world has been absorbed by the war in Lebanon, sectarian massacres have started to take place on an almost daily basis, leading observers to fear a level of killing approaching that of Rwanda immediately before the genocide of 1994. On a single spot on the west bank of the Tigris ...
