Addressing a broad range of issues including Iran's nuclear ambitions and the current threat of terrorist attacks, former CIA Director Michael Hayden spoke for 90 minutes Tuesday offering praise and criticism to the intelligence community and the Obama Administration. While careful to remind his audience that he is no longer in government, having left the CIA in 2009, Hayden remains plugged-in to the intelligence community and is a respected voice on matters covering the globe. The retired Air Force general thinks Iranian officials have developed their nuclear program to be fully capable of building a nuclear weapon but not actually complete the task. "That gives them all the ...

Amsterdam, The Netherlands The DNA shower is one of the latest invention in crime prevention. The system was installed in a high risk area in the metropolis Amsterdam in the Netherlands, within 8 weeks the crime rate sank with just over 60 percent, an incredible high success rate. LONDON -(Dow Jones)- The U.K. will cut armed forces personnel, withdraw its forces from Germany and press ahead with building two aircraft carriers, Prime Minister David Cameron said Tuesday. Cameron delivered the long-awaited strategic defense and security review to the House of Commons, a program outlined earlier this year to cut spending to address a gaping budget deficit. Britain will cut 7,000 jobs from the army and 5,000 from each of the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy. Forces will withdraw from Germany by 2020. Two aircraft carriers will be built after Cameron said the cost of canceling one of carriers was higher than the build cost.

Nightfall in America~The Obama deficits portend a gloomy future. Post Date: 2010-10-19 10:26:42 by Happy Quanzaa

Nightfall in America The Obama deficits portend a gloomy future. Is it, as President Reagan's re-election commercial said, "morning in America"? Back then it was, but not anymore; it is economic evening in America as our nation's spending, government programs and deficits balloon. The federal deficit this fiscal year will be $1.6 trillion, or about 10.6% of gross domestic product. That is the largest deficit since World War II, and even President Obama's optimistic estimates show our deficits will not return to sustainable levels for at least the next decade. The administration's projection of total federal spending over those 10 years (2011-20) is $45.8 ...

NEW YORK The US military is mistreating detainees -- and violating its own rules -- at a secret prison in Afghanistan, a US think tank said Friday in a report. The 16-page report by the Open Society Foundation said Afghans call the secret site "Tor Jail," or "Black Jail," and that consistent accounts from detainees refer to being kept without adequate shelter or food or other basic rights. The Pentagon quickly rejected abuses, but said it was looking into the allegations. "The Department of Defense does not operate any 'secret prisons,'" a spokesman said. Any classified "temporary screening/detention facilities" operate under ...

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius formally apologized for the "abhorrent" and "clearly unethical" medical experiments. And on October 2, President Barack Obama apologized to his Guatemalan counterpart and vowed that all human medical studies conducted today will be held to exacting U.S. and international legal and ethical ...

A man can beat his wife and kids as long as he leaves no physical marks, the United Arab Emirates' highest court has found. The judgment came after a man slapped his wife and kicked and slapped his daughter, according to Abu Dhabi's The National newspaper. In the case debated by the Federal Supreme court, the daughter was bruised on the hand and knee, while the wife's lip and teeth were injured. According to the court, the injuries showed that the man had over-stepped his rights under Shariah, or Islamic law, the newspaper reported. He had originally been fined 500 United Arab Emirates dirhams ($136), but appealed the case twice. At 23, the daughter was deemed too old to ...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Pentagon on Monday asked media organizations not to publish any classified war files released by the WikiLeaks Web site, as the U.S. braces for the potential disclosure of hundreds of thousands of secret Iraq war documents. In July, WikiLeaks obtained and released nearly 77,000 classified military reports from Afghanistan. Now, the Pentagon says the group has as many as 400,000 documents from a military database on operations in Iraq. WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange on Monday downplayed expectations that a leak was imminent. In a Twitter post, Assange said information were coming from "a single tabloid blog" that had put out a "tremendous ...

JERUSALEM (AP) -- Gaza's Hamas rulers have obtained anti-aircraft missiles, Israel's prime minister said Monday, in a potentially game-changing development that could threaten the Israeli air force's ability to strike at the Islamic militant group. Israeli aircraft have long dominated the skies over Gaza, striking suspected Hamas military installations and assassinating dozens of wanted militants. The Israeli air force played a key role in a fierce three-week offensive in Gaza early last year, which began with airstrikes that killed hundreds of Hamas fighters. Speaking to his Likud Party, Netanyahu disclosed that Israel's aerial freedom has been compromised by the new ...

Rather, al Qaeda's top leadership is believed to be living in relative comfort, protected by locals and some members of the Pakistani intelligence services, the official said. Pakistan has repeatedly denied protecting members of the al Qaeda leadership. The official said the general region where bin Laden is likely to ...

Pay attention to the gray 1939 Ford coupe at 6:35 and 9:40. I sold him the 3 carb 292 Ford Y-Block engine in it last summer. This was his first run after getting the engine and car together, and he is still working out the bugs. Not to mention learning how to drag race. The car had a 327 Chevy engine in it when he bought it,but he wanted something more traditional, and decided on a Y-Block after hearing what they sound like and discovering they were more popular in the 50's than the Chevy engine was. Thousands Demonstrate in Tel Aviv against Racist Loyalty Oath Could the Netanyahu Government Fall over New Settlements? Post Date: 2010-10-17 18:41:46 by Brian S

Several thousand Jews and Arabs marched in Tel Aviv on Saturday to protest the loyalty oath recently approved by the Israeli cabinet, which would force new candidates for Israeli citizenship to affirm their commitment to a Jewish and Democratic state. The measure was pushed by Avigdor Lieberman, the far, far rightwing leader of Yisrael Beitenu, the party of relatively recent immigrants to Israel from the former Soviet Union. The oath is considered racist by most Palestinian-Israelis and by many on the Israeli left. For a view that the Netanyahu government that passed the measure is profoundly anti-democratic, see Gershon Gorenberg in The American Prospect. In other news, the ...

In what looks like another failure in the Bush administration to protect the worlds citizens from terrorism, reports today say the FBI knew that Mumbai would be attacked three years before it happened. David Headley was a paid Drug Enforcement Agent in 2005. Headley was arrested on domestic assault charges that year after his wife was told that Headley had married another woman in Pakistan and fathered children there. His wife complained to FBI officials that Headley bragged about his work with the DEA and his training in Pakistan with terrorist militia. She also told the FBI that Headley had traveled five times to Mumbai. Headley had been scouting locations to carry out a terrorist ...

Its pretty incredible stuff, more so as hard information coming out of Iran is so fragmented and sketchy. Im speaking, of course, of the accidental explosion at the Imam Ali base, an Iranian Revolutionary Guards arms and ammunition depot at a secret facility, which had extensive underground storage and launching facilities for the Shahab-3 long-range missile. In fact, practically all of Irans inventory of the Shahab-3 was reportedly destroyed when (as the Iranians spun it) a fire got out of control at the base. Other Iranians blamed the Kurds. Kurds?! It must have been one hell of a raid. Just think about it

'There's no such thing as rape within marriage', says Muslim leader of sharia law courts in Britain Post Date: 2010-10-16 19:53:42 by WhiteSands

A senior Muslim cleric has been condemned by police and other Muslim leaders for claiming that there is no such thing as rape within marriage. Sheikh Maulana Abu Sayeed, president of the Islamic Sharia Council in Britain, sparked outrage when he said he believed that men who rape their wives should not be prosecuted because 'sex is part of marriage'. He further claimed, during an interview with the blog The Samosa, that many married women who made accusations of rape were lying. His comments have caused fury among senior police officers, who already face great difficulties in getting women to report rape - a crime that all too often goes under-reported. At that time, the sex workers were admitted into the prisons. When the rate of male-female transmission proved low, the research approach changed to direct inoculation of inmates and patients in the psychiatric hospital.
