Liam Fox Resignation Exposes Tory Links To US Radical Right Post Date: 2011-10-15 18:58:35 by Brian S

David Cameron has been accused of allowing a secret rightwing agenda to flourish at the heart of the Conservative party, as fallout from the resignation of Liam Fox exposed its close links with a US network of lobbyists, climate change deniers and defence hawks. In a sign that Fox's decision to fall on his sword will not mark the end of the furore engulfing the Tories, both Liberal Democrat and Labour politicians stepped up their demands for the prime minister to explain why several senior members of his cabinet were involved in an Anglo-American organisation apparently at odds with his party's environmental commitments and pledge to defend free healthcare. At the heart of the ...

Inspired by the Occupy Wall St movement and Spain's "Indignants", demonstrators from Asia to Europe took to the streets. Riot police in Rome charged hundreds of protesters and fired water cannons, while a group of activists set alight a defence ministry annex nearby. Flames could be seen coming out of the roof and windows of the building on Via Labicana as firefighters struggled to tame the blaze. Dozens of masked protesters could be seen in the area, which had not been cordoned off. The violence was said to be caused by hooded militants known as "black blocks," who have infiltrated demonstrations in the past. There were no immediate reports of injuries. ...

Suspected US air strikes took out a raft of top Al-Qaeda leaders in Yemen barely two weeks after a drone killed US-born jihadist cleric Anwar al-Awlaqi, provincial and tribal sources said on Saturday. The seven killed in Friday evenings triple raid included a son and cousin of Awlaqi, as well as three other members of his tribe and the media chief of Al-Qaedas feared Yemen arm, the sources told AFP. The Yemeni defence ministry confirmed that seven Al-Qaeda militants, including its regional media chief, had been killed in a raid. But it reiterated its standard denial of US involvement in offensive operations on Yemeni soil and insisted its own forces carried it out. A member ...
Missing Libya Missiles Find Their Way to Gaza Border Post Date: 2011-10-14 11:26:27 by Brian S

Some of the thousands of surface-to-air missiles that have gone missing since the collapse of the Gadhafi regime in Libya have now turned up just miles from the Israeli border. U.S. officials say there were 20,000 Russian-made anti-aircraft missiles in Libya before the uprising, and thousands have disappeared in the looting of Moammar Gadhafi's arm caches. According to the Washington Post, many of those Russian-made anti-aircraft weapons are being sold in Egyptian black markets, and so many are available the price has dropped from $10,000 to $4,000. Egyptian officials told the paper they have intercepted looted Libyan weapons, including anti-aircraft guns, missiles and artillery, on ...

MADRID Indignant activists, angered by a biting economic crisis they blame on politicians and bankers, vow to take to the streets worldwide on Saturday in a protest spanning 71 nations. It is the first global show of power by the movement, born May 15 when a rally in Madrids central square of Puerta del Sol sparked a protest that spread nationwide, then to other countries. As governments cut deep into welfare spending to try to trim huge sovereign debts, the protests have grown and this weekends demonstrations are being organised in Madrid, New York and around the world. United in one voice, we will let politicians, and the financial elites they ...
Iranian Terror Plot: Fake, Fake, Fake Post Date: 2011-10-13 20:39:39 by jwpegler

Fake, fake, fake Im talking about the latest anti-Iranian propaganda coming out of Washington, which claims the Iranian Revolutionary Guards were involved in a plot to take out the Saudi ambassador to the US and blow up both the Saudi and Israeli embassies. The narrative reads like a formulaic melodrama: two Iranians, one a naturalized US citizen, purportedly approached someone they thought was a member of a Mexican drug cartel according to the indictment [.pdf], it was a sophisticated drug cartel, not the plebeian sort and proposed paying him $1.5 million to murder Adel al Jubeir, the Kingdoms ambassador in Washington oh, and ...

By Leila Fadel, EL ARISH, Egypt Large caches of weapons from Libya are making their way across the Egyptian border and flooding black markets in Egypts already unstable Sinai Peninsula, according to current and former Egyptian military officials and arms traders in the Sinai. Egyptian security officials have intercepted surface-to-air missiles, most of them shoulder-launched, on the road to Sinai and in the smuggling tunnels connecting Egypt to the Gaza Strip since Moammar Gaddafi fell from power in Libya in August, a military official in Cairo said. Arms traders said the weapons available on Sinais clandestine market include rockets and antiaircraft guns. The seizures ...
Biggest U.S. Free-Trade Accord Since ’94 Passed Post Date: 2011-10-13 10:53:04 by Brian S

The U.S. Congress approved free- trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Panama, bringing an end to years of stalemate and offering what supporters said was the biggest opportunity for exporters in decades. The bills go to President Barack Obama, who spent two years seeking to broaden Democratic support for pacts revised from initial agreements reached by his predecessor. The South Korea deal, the biggest for the U.S. since the North American Free Trade Agreement in 1994, removes duties on almost two-thirds of American farm exports, and phases out tariffs on more than 95 percent of industrial and consumer exports within five years. Yesterdays step may diminish concern that ...

Hiring Narcos to Murder the Saudi Ambassador? If It's True, Tehran Is Pretty Dumb Posted by Tim Padgett Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 4:56 pm If Iranian government operatives really did try to contract a Mexican drug cartel to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the U.S., as the Obama Administration alleges today, then they weren't just being diabolical. They were being fairly stupid. Granted, the Zetas the drug mafia that Iranian-American Manssor Arbabsiar allegedly thought he was dealing with on behalf of Tehran are certainly Mexico's most bloodthirsty: they are the narcos that brought beheadings and wholesale massacres of innocent civilians to the nightmarish ...

Occupy Wall Street a favorite of Communists and dictators K.E. Campbell The occupying protesters' day got off to a good start. Iran's supreme leader and "new leftists" in the People's Republic of China have endorsed their cause. During a speech yesterday in Kermanshah, Iran, before a crowd of "tens of thousands," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said: The corruption of the capitalist regime has become evident for these people (the protesters)... This movement will soar to completely mark the downfall of the West and the capitalist regime. The speech was broadcast on Iran's state-controlled television. Khamenei claimed the "corrupt foundation has been ...
Washington Bombing Plot Is Out of Character for Iran's Professional Killers Post Date: 2011-10-12 19:14:36 by Brian S

Just when you think the Middle Easy couldn't get any weirder, along comes an Iranian plot to assassinate the ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Washington. The plot has was described by FBI Director Robert Muller as plucked right out of a Hollywood script if so, it would be a truly awful Hollywood script. None of it measures up to Iran's unsurpassed skill in conducting assassinations. As for motives, there are no convincing ones. According to the Department of Justice indictment, an Iranian-American used-car salesman attempted to recruit a Mexican drug cartel to carry out the hit. Other parts of the plan included bombing the Israeli embassy in Washington, as well as the Israeli ...

OTTAWA -- Amnesty International is calling on the federal government to detain and investigate George W. Bush for war crimes. In fact, the organization says the government has "an obligation" to do it. The former president will be in Canada later this month. "The government of Canada has an obligation to start an investigation into former U.S. president George W. Bush's alleged involvement in, and responsibility for crimes under international law, including torture, while he is visiting Canada on 20 October," according to a press release from the organization sent out Thursday. According to Amnesty spokesperson John Tackaberry, the organization gave the ...

TEHRAN (Reuters) U.S. allegations that Iran plotted to assassinate Saudi Arabias ambassador to Washington are a mischievous attempt to fuel tension between Tehran and Riyadh, a senior Iranian official said on Wednesday. One man was arrested last month while the other was believed to be in Iran. These claims are vulgar

An Al Qaeda leader who is one of the most wanted men in the world was invited for lunch at the Pentagon in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks, a new report has claimed.
New documents have been obtained which apparently detail how Anwar Al-Awlaki, the first American on the CIA's kill or capture list, rubbed shoulders with high-ranking military personnel just months after the atrocities.
Fox News claim to have acquired documents that state that Awlaki was taken to the U.S. Department of Defense's headquarters as part of the military's outreach program to the Muslim community in the immediate aftermath of the terrorist attacks.
In an FBI interview conducted after the ...

Al-Qaedas affiliate in Yemen has confirmed the deaths of American-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan, the young American propagandist killed alongside him in a U.S. drone strike late last month. Al-Qaeda has also criticized the Obama administration for killing U.S. citizens, saying doing so contradicts American law. Where are what they keep talking about regarding freedom, justice, human rights and respect of freedoms?! the statement says, according to a translation by SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadist Web sites. The Obama administration has spoken in broad terms about its authority to use military and paramilitary force against ...
EU Idiocy: Children to be banned from blowing up balloons, under EU safety rules Post Date: 2011-10-11 07:14:15 by A K A Stone

Children are to be banned from taking part in traditional Christmas games, from blowing up balloons to blowing on party whistles, because of new EU safety rules that have just entered into force. The EU toy safety directive, agreed and implemented by Government, states that balloons must not be blown up by unsupervised children under the age of eight, in case they accidentally swallow them and choke. Despite having been popular favourites for generations of children, party games including whistles and magnetic fishing games are to be banned because their small parts or chemicals used in making them are decreed to be too risky. Apparently harmless toys that children have enjoyed for ...
WHITE RACE & CATS IN PRISON Post Date: 2011-10-10 12:23:10 by continental op

I. Kim Jong Il sat in prison all alone. A cat walked along, passing out worn books. Cats staged a riot in prison. The white race will not survive if it casts a forlorn look behind its back where the ships have sailed a long time ago to distant shores where nobody has ever heard of or even seen a white man. Not in ages, not ever. Arthur the king was lonely and sad in his castle on top of the mountain. All around him in moats built centuries ago crocodiles roamed and had a veritable party in the water, eating drinking and generally just gambling the night away. The white race was not happy with the parcel that was delivered to his home in the ghetto. Signed by all the cats not yet caught by ...

For Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, September 6 will remain as one of the memorable days of his checkered public life. The Nord Stream pipeline carrying Russian natural gas under the Baltic Sea directly to Germany formally opened on Tuesday. On the very same day, Moscow also announced that a shareholder agreement has been finalized between Russia, Germany, France and Italy for the South Stream pipeline project, which is designed to carry Russian gas to Western Europe under the Black Sea. Both Nord Stream and South Stream have been Putin's pet projects. Against heavy odds, he tenaciously advanced these two projects that hold the potential to rewrite Russia's ties with the ...

The movement is in solidarity with the mass Occupy Wall Street demonstrations taking place in New York since last month in protest against financial greed. Dublin protesters have listed their demands that the IMF and EU stay out of Irish affairs, that ordinary people do not repay bank debt, that there be reform of the political system for real ...
Why Oppose Interventionism? What conservatives have forgotten – and libertarians remember Post Date: 2011-10-10 11:41:12 by continental op

I often hear a variant of the following from conservatives (and some liberals) when confronted with the foreign policy views of libertarians: Sure, Im all for a more peaceful foreign policy, but you guys take it too far isolationism wont work in our increasingly interconnected world. Besides, we have real enemies we have to deal with. There are several problems with this response. First, there is no such thing as isolationism and no such creature as an isolationist. Sure, there are some who oppose international trade labor unions, for one, and other fair traders but libertarians are not included in their ...
Triumph of the Towelheads The Nobel Art of Self Deception Post Date: 2011-10-10 11:37:05 by continental op

There's no getting away from it. Whiteys strive for importance on a non-stop, seven-days-a-week, bending-over-backwards, sell-their-own-grandmother basis. I say this having spent much of my life in Africa, Asia, and London, so I have 'control groups,' as the scientists say, to help me measure tendencies like this. Not every Whitey of course, but enough of them in contrast to other groups for it to be a general characteristic. But even in cases where they don't appear to be striving, I think a lot of them really are. Take Andy Nowicki's recent article on über-slacker Kurt Cobain. What was that thing with a shotgun if it wasn't an attempt to out-nihil all the ...

A grim Federal Security Services (FSB) report on Prime Minister Putin’s plan to meet China’s leader Hu Jintao [both pictured top photo left] in Beijing next week warns that both Russian and Chinese military forces are being placed on their ‘highest alert’ in anticipation of a massive land invasion believed being planned by the United States of both the Middle East and Central Asia.
The plans for this “Total Global War” the Americans are preparing to launch were first revealed to China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS) by the former Blackwater mercenary Bryan Underwood who is currently being held by US authorities for spying and which we reported on in our 4 October report titled ...

Libyan revolutionaries have held a protest rally in Libya's second largest city, Benghazi, to demand the expulsion of immigrant Jews from the post-revolutionary North African country. The revolutionaries marched in the eastern port city on Friday and condemned the settling of Jews in Libya following the 1967 Israeli aggression against some Arab countries, IRNA reported, citing a local news website. Meanwhile, other protests and sit-ins were reportedly held elsewhere in the city during which the protesters demanded that the Libyan National Transitional Council (NTC) heed their calls for action. Benghazi is Libya's second largest city where the revolution against Gaddafi started in ...

In an interview on BBC yesterday, International Monetary Fund (IMF) adviser Robert Shapiro said something quite alarming: without a plan to save the Euro, the global economy will collapse in two to three weeks. Speaking about European leaders, Shapiro said: If they can not address [the financial crisis] in a credible way I believe within perhaps two to three weeks we will have a meltdown in sovereign debt which will produce a meltdown across the European banking system. We are not just talking about a relatively small Belgian bank, we are talking about the largest banks in the world, the largest banks in Germany, the largest banks in France, that will spread to the ...
