FRANKENTHAL, Germany (NewsCore) - A German gynecologist is being investigated by police after secretly taking 35,000 pictures of female patients naked inside his practice. So far 700 victims have filed criminal complaints against the 56-year-old doctor, who practised in the small town of Schifferstadt, in Rhineland-Palatinate in the west of the country. "We are still in the middle of the investigation, it may well be that more victims come forwards," Lothar Liebig, the director of public prosecutions in Frankenthal, told the German tabloid Bild. Approximately 3,000 women were unknowingly snapped by the perverted doctor while undergoing clinical examinations, the report said. ...

Egyptian state TV showed footage of the three young men who were reportedly arrested Monday near Tahrir Square after being accused of taking part in street battles with security forces. The US embassy in Cairo was unable to confirm the arrests but said it was aware of the reports. "There have been a number of reports of Americans being detained, and we are currently looking into that," David Lynfield, a spokesman at the embassy told NewsCore. The three Americans held in ...

Iran Policy: The Problem Is Obama

Iran Policy: The Problem Is Obama By Ed Lasky Iran is well on its way to developing nuclear weapons. Years of sanctions have not stopped them, and now President Obama will not use his most effective tool short of acts of war. The administration opposes new sanctions on Iran's Central Bank, despite the overwhelming support that measure (spearheaded by Illinois Republican Senator Mark Kirk) enjoys on both sides of the aisle in Congress. The administration says such a measure would lead to a spike in oil prices and harm the world economy. That is speculation. What is not speculation is that sanctions on the Central Bank would impose crippling costs on a weak Iranian economy and be an ...

33 dead in Egyptian riots Rick Moran Cairo exploded in violence over the weekend as demonstrators battled police over the right to occupy Tahrir Square. The protestors are demanding an end to military rule and an immediate transition to civilian authority. Reuters: The bloodshed in and around Cairo's Tahrir Square, epicenter of the anti-Mubarak revolt, threatens to disrupt Egypt's first free parliamentary election in decades, due to start next week. Clashes have raged on and off since police used batons and tear gas to try to disperse a sit-in in Tahrir on Saturday. Protesters have brandished bullet casings in the square, but police deny using live fire. Medical sources at ...

Trojan horse of Goldman Sachs digs into eurozone

The German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) chaired by Angela Merkel urged to introduce changed in the Lisbon Treaty and other European agreements stipulating an opportunity for European countries to pull out from the eurozone. The countries would preserve their EU membership in such a move. Greece has a new government, but it has not led to any positive changes. The problem of the national debt crisis remains the same. Western media paid attention to the fact that the newly appointed prime ministers of the problematic countries of the eurozone and the new chairman of the European Central Bank are closely related to Goldman Sachs Bank. It goes about the President of the European ...

IMF very sad of losing Russia as its prey

IMF's Managing Director Christine Lagarde urged the Russian administration not to increase the public spending. Lagarde said that she was giving only friendly pieces of advice to Russia and added that she had received the Order of Friendship from the Russian administration. According to her, public spending was not a very healthy phenomenon, especially before the elections. However, it is clear that Lagarde was not talking about the spending connected with the elections only. The IMF's chairwoman does not like the payments to weakly protected layers of the population, the increase of spending on defense and law-enforcement bodies. Aside from that, Christine Lagarde is concerned ...

Mothers to save Russia from extinction

It would not be an exaggeration to say that Russia becomes extinct slowly but surely. According to the UN, Russia is ranked fourth on the list of depopulating countries. To struggle with the crisis, authorities and public organizations elaborate many different programs. One of them is called "The Holiness of Motherhood." UN specialists created the "map of extinction," on which Russia was ranked fourth among other fast-depopulating countries. The company, which Russia has on this list, includes Macao, Hong Kong, Bosnia, Malta, Slovakia, Singapore, Romania, Hungary and Ukraine. If nothing changes for the better, the native population of these countries will disappear by ...

BEIJING, Nov. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani says Iran will review relations with the UN's nuclear watchdog, after its censure of Tehran over nuclear activities. Ali Larijani, Iranian Parliament Speaker , said, "If the agency acts within the framework of the charter, we accept that we are a member of it and will carry out our responsibilities. But if the agency wants to deviate from its responsibilities then it should not expect our cooperation." Larijani said that the pressure imposed by the United States and the West would not affect the continuation of Iran’s nuclear program. The International Atomic Energy Agency passed a resolution on ...

WASHINGTON, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Sunday called for actions against Iran to stop it from acquiring nuclear weapons, saying "the time had come." However, he declined to say directly whether his country would attack Iran, noted "I don't think that that is a subject for public discussion." "But I can tell you that the IAEA report has a sobering impact on many in the world leaders, as well as the publics, and people understand that the time had come," he told the CNN TV network in an interview. He was referring to the report released on Nov. 8 by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which outlined alleged ...

BEIJING, Nov. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Syria's Foreign Minister, Walid al-Moualem says some phrases of the Arab League's monitoring protocol are "unattainable" and reflect " unbalanced stands". He said that Syria will seek clarification over the Arab League plan to send monitors to his country to help end the unrest against President Bashar al-Assad, which has killed 3,500 people. The Arab League said on Sunday it had rebuffed a request by Damascus to amend its plans for the 500-strong monitoring mission. Syria said it would send a message to Arab League Secretary General Nabil Elaraby to ask him about the issue. Walid Al-Moualem, Syrian FM, said, "I will reply ...

The phone hacking scandal has taken a new twist after it was revealed computers used by News of the World journalists were destroyed by putting them 'through a grinder'. They were 'taken out and smashed up' last autumn at a time when News International was being sued over the illegal activity at the now-defunct Sunday tabloid. The computers were destroyed during a move from the paper's headquarters in east London to an office at the nearby Thomas More Square, a court has heard. Only the terminal belonging to show business reporter Dan Evans still exists, according to Jeremy Reed, the barrister representing a number of phone hacking victims. Mr Reed was speaking at a ...

Damascus: Syrian President Bashar Al Assad defiantly vowed to fight and die if needed as an Arab League deadline for his government to stop its lethal crackdown on protesters expired with 20 more people killed. Upping the pressure on Syria, the Arab League on Sunday announced it had rejected amendments proposed by Damascus to its proposal to send a 500-strong delegation to monitor the violence in Syria. And Turkish President Abdullah Gul said there was “no place for authoritarian regimes” in the Mediterranean region. Among the dead on the weekend were four intelligence agents killed as gunmen raked their car with gunfire and two mutinous soldiers who died in clashes with ...

The "time has come" to deal with Iran, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Sunday, refusing to rule out military action to curb the Islamic republic's nuclear ambitions. Barak, speaking on CNN's Fareed Zakaria GPS program, indicated that Israel's patience was wearing thin -- and provided an ominous response when asked about the growing speculation of an Israeli military strike. EU officials concluded that, following a three-year investigation, there was no evidence to prove the previously undisputed fact. Producers of bottled water are now forbidden by law from making the claim and will face a two-year jail sentence if they defy the edict, which comes into force in the UK next month. Last night, critics claimed the EU was at odds with both science and common sense. Conservative MEP Roger Helmer said: “This is stupidity writ large. “The euro is burning, the EU is falling apart and yet here they are: highly-paid, highly-pensioned officials worrying about the obvious qualities of water and trying to deny us the right to say what is patently true. ...

World's smallest car fuels nanotech advance

London (CNN) -- A tiny nano-sized car which can propel itself forward in response to electrical pulses has been created by scientists in the Netherlands. The electric-powered vehicle, which is the size of a single molecule, has a chassis and four paddle-shaped wheels and is roughly one-billionth the size of a traditional hatchback car. Its maiden journey wasn't exactly epic -- six nanometers -- and its fuel-efficiency wasn't world-beating either, needing a jolt of 500 millivolts every half revolution of its wheels. But it's an important milestone in nanotech research (the science of manipulating matter at molecular scale), say scientists, because it demonstrates that single ...

However, recent statements by among others the president and defense minister of Israel and a leading candidate for the American presidency in next year’s election – Shimon Peres, Ehud Barak and Mitt Romney respectively – before and after the latest International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report on Iran’s nuclear program manifest a more stark and menacing tone that has ...

Syria Targeted for Imperialist Intrigue after Arab League Suspension

November 18, 2011 "WSWS" -- Wednesday’s three-day deadline by the Arab League for Syria to meet its terms is a political provocation. It presents terms that the Syrian government cannot possibly accept, to allow other Middle Eastern regimes to continue an imperialist-backed intervention against Damascus. The Arab League plan calls on Syria to withdraw its tanks from restive cities, cease attacks on protesters, release prisoners and engage in dialogue with the opposition. Under present conditions, this would require the Baathist regime of President Bashar al-Assad to commit political suicide. It would mean agreeing to abandon military action, while armed insurgents are ...

How many ways are there to say you are back? Last year, Hillary Clinton grabbed Beijing's lapels when she declared the South China Sea, claimed in its entirety by China, was also a vital American interest. A few weeks ago, the United States Secretary of State published a lengthy piece in Foreign Policy magazine in which she laid out the terms of what she called America's Pacific Century. And this week, at the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation forum in Honolulu, US President Barack Obama talked about hardly anything else. "The US is a Pacific power and we're here to stay," he said. The message is clear. America is back. And by the way, it never left. In her essay, ...

SAO PAULO (AP) — Thousands of flesh-eating piranhas have infested a river beach popular with tourists in western Brazil and have bitten at least 15 unwary swimmers, authorities said Wednesday. Officials in the city of Caceres in Mato Grosso state said this is the first time they have had a problem with piranhas at the Daveron beach on the Paraguay river, where the aggressive fish began schooling about two weeks ago. "People have got to be very careful. If they're bitten, they've got to get out of the water rapidly and not allow the blood to spread," firefighter Raul Castro de Oliveira told Globo TV's G1 website. Elson de Campos Pinto, 22, was bitten Sunday. ...

'Extinct' frog hops back into northern Israel

JERUSALEM—A frog species believed to be extinct has hopped back into sight in northern Israel. Omri Gal of Israel's Nature and Parks Authority said Thursday the Hula Painted Frog was seen for the first time in 50 years this week. He said it was declared extinct. Gal said, "It's an amazing find, now we have a second chance to preserve the species." The frog is native to the Hula Valley, a swamp drained in the 1950s to stop malaria. Aquatic ecologist Dana Milstein says the frog was rare even before, and little is known about it. In the 1940s, a specimen ate a second frog, leading to speculation the species is cannibalistic. She credited rehydration of the area ...

Nixon adviser Henry Kissinger branded Jewish as self-serving 'b*******', new documents reveal

American Jewish groups, lobbying the Nixon administration on behalf of their Soviet brethren, got under White House adviser Henry Kissinger's skin so much that he denounced them as self-serving 'bastards', newly released documents reveal. The comments were made in August 1972, when appeals were flooding the White House over the Kremlin's levying of fees for exit permits. One such letter was from the Israeli prime minister, Golda Meir, appealing to the White House to end its strategy of 'quiet diplomacy', and for Mr Nixon to take up the issue with Soviet leaders directly. A White House official, Leonard Garment, himself flooded with letters and phone calls with ...

Germany has drawn up secret plans to prevent a British referendum on the overhaul of the European Union amid concerns it could derail the eurozone rescue package, leaked documents obtained by The Daily Telegraph disclose. Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, is today expected to tell David Cameron that Britain does not need a referendum on EU treaty changes, despite demands from senior Conservatives for more powers to be repatriated to Britain. The leaked memo, written by the German foreign office, discloses radical plans for an intrusive new European body that will be able to take over the economies of beleaguered eurozone countries. It discloses that the EU’s largest economy is ...

Gathered around Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy, a small group of unelected EU officials have been assigned the task of governing the eurozone and removing leaders who fail to toe the line, writes the British conservative weekly The Spectator. The Old Opera House in Frankfurt – once Germany’s most beautiful postwar ruin and now its most stunning recreation – has become a symbol of European rebirth. And it was here, last month, that Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy met the EU’s bureaucratic elite in what would, in another era, be described as a putsch. They had grown tired of eurozone summits, with leaders flying here and there but getting nowhere. A smaller group ...

NEW YORK — BMW, eager to show off its electric babies, unveiled its i3 and i8 concept cars here ahead of their North American premier at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and all we can say is, Wow. These things are cool. Yes, yes, we know. They’re concept cars. But BMW stressed that these beautiful, efficient and fast (in the case of the i8) cars with cords are just a few years from production. While the technology underpinning these cars is pretty slick — electric drivetrains, carbon fiber-reinforced plastic bodywork and an innovative platform — it’s the design that is truly mesmerizing. BMW is making a push into more sustainable motoring with its new BMW ...
