Kim's death was announced Monday by state television from the North Korean capital, Pyongyang. Kim is believed to have suffered a stroke in 2008 but appeared relatively vigorous in photos and video from recent trips to China and Russia and in numerous trips around the country carefully documented by state media. After being viciously beaten by a 10-strong mob of Egyptian male soldiers, this woman lies helplessly on the ground as her shirt is ripped from her body and a man kicks her with full force in her exposed chest. Moments earlier she had been struck countless times in the head and body with metal batons, not content with the brutal beating delivered by his fellow soldier, one man stamped on her head repeatedly. She feebly tried to shield her head from the relentless blows with her hands. On his Facebook page, Big Peace contributor Walid Phares brought my attention to a report in the Pakistani website The Nation that Hamad bin Jassem al-Thani, the premier of US ally Qatar, is prepared to open an embassy for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan otherwise known as the Taliban. He said, A solution in Afghanistan requires the participation of the Taliban in a way that must be decided by the Afghans. Rebel villagers in China say they will march on the main administrative town if government officials and police refuse to hand over the body of their community chief. During another day of protests and marches, Wukan village representative Lin Zulian addressed a crowd of more than 6,000, pledging to fight with their lives against the corrupt system which has robbed them of their coastal land and of their village leader, Xue Jinbo. "We give the local government and police five days to hand back Xue's body. If not, we shall climb over our barricades and march on the [Lufeng] town hall to try and get his remains," said Mr Lin. European Economic Crisis Highlights an Increasingly Important Reason to Oppose Gun Control About a year ago, I spoke at a conference in Europe that attracted a lot of very rich people from all over the continent, as well as a lot of people who manage money for high-net-worth individuals. What made this conference remarkable was not the presentations, though they were generally quite interesting. The stunning part of the conference was learning as part of casual conversation during breaks, meals, and other socializing time how many rich people are planning for the eventual collapse of European society. Not stagnation. Not gradual decline. Collapse. As in riots, social ...

Disaster management officials say they have removed about 300 dead seals from Kommetjie Beach in Cape Town. A high tide or extreme wind conditions probably caused the animals to be washed off Seal Island on Thursday night and officials say it is not a particularly unusual phenomenon. Hundreds of dead seals are scattered around the peninsula from Strandfontein as far as Kommetjie. Those passing by say the mammals have been laying there for hours. An onlooker who drives past Muizenberg Beach everyday says he spotted the seals on the shore at 7am. According to disaster management's Johannes Solomons-Johannes, there are more 100 dead seals which must still be removed between ...
129 New Victims of Gun Control in Belgium Post Date: 2011-12-16 18:57:30 by CZ82

129 New Victims of Gun Control in Belgium Gun laws work. Once a law is made to establish control over private guns, criminals obey it. When guns are banned, criminals refrain from getting guns. When there is a process for getting a license, criminals go through the process of getting that license in order to legally own guns, in order to use them in their crimes. When a criminal legally has guns, and when he uses them in a crime, the government finds out about it because a criminal will always obey the law and will keep a good record of his guns and how he has used them. Ahem. May be not. Belgium has one of the toughest laws in Europe for owning guns. So tough, actually, that only 4 out ...

Istanbul, Turkey
Iran guided the CIA's "lost" stealth drone to an intact landing inside hostile territory by exploiting a navigational weakness long-known to the US military, according to an Iranian engineer now working on the captured drone's systems inside Iran.
Iranian electronic warfare specialists were able to cut off communications links of the American bat-wing RQ-170 Sentinel, says the engineer, who works for one of many Iranian military and civilian teams currently trying to unravel the drone’s stealth and intelligence secrets, and who could not be named for his safety.
Using knowledge gleaned from previous downed American drones and a technique proudly claimed by ...

In a ferocious verbal tirade broadcast on state TV that lasted more than four and a half hours, the Russian prime minister made it clear he was determined to return to the Russian presidency next year, scornfully dismissing recent demonstrations against him. "I know that students were paid some money - well, that's good if they could earn something," he said, referring to the biggest protest of its kind since the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union last Saturday. Facing down the biggest challenge of his almost twelve years in power, the Russian strong man insisted that the disputed parliamentary election which triggered the protests was not flawed, rejecting calls for a re-run ...

The Vatican is now reiterating demands for control of religious sites in Jerusalem. Jordan's occupation 1948-1967 didn't bother them. Peace negotiations in the Middle East must tackle the issue of the status of the holy sites of Jerusalem, Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, head of the Vaticans Council for Interreligious Dialogue, declared several days ago in Rome. The Vaticans former foreign minister asked to place some Israeli holy places under Vatican authority, alluding to the Cenacle on Mount Zion and the garden of Gethsemane at the foot of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. The first site also houses what is referred to as King Davids tomb. ...

Vladimir Putin has launched an extraordinary attack on US Senator John McCain in which he also implicated Washington in the killing of Libyan dictator Col Muammar Gaddafi. The Russian prime minister called the former presidential candidate nuts in response to Twitter comment about Russias parliamentary elections that drew allegations of fraud and triggered large protests. Mr McCains tweet read: "Dear Vlad, The Arab Spring is coming to a neighbourhood near you." Mr Putin turned stony faced when asked about the tweet on his annual televised phone-in. "Mr McCain fought in Vietnam. I think that he has enough blood of peaceful citizens on his hands. ...

In View of the Current Downword Manipulations of the Gold Price by the Rothschilds and other International Bankers the Corps of Discovery is Returning to its ORIGINAL Monetary Policy. It is my belief that the current downward trend in the price of gold and silver is the result of the majority ownership of these metals by the Rothschilds and other international banking Illuminati families who pass their stores of these metals amongst each other so as to manipulate their price. As you know from the last Corps of Discovery article I looked seriously looked at the idea of a physical gold standard based on the micro-ounce of the metal circulating in durable plastic notes. I now have to ...
More than 1,000 turtle doves fall from the sky in Italy in latest mass bird death case Post Date: 2011-12-14 19:56:31 by A K A Stone

After cavalcades of dead birds and fish from Arkansas and Texas to Sweden and New Zealand, tests are being carried out on the bodies of turtle doves in Italy after hundreds rained down near Ravenna. For the last five days wildlife experts and officers from the forestry commission have picked up more than 1,000 turtle doves as well as other birds including pigeons. Yesterday alone 300 corpses were recovered with all of them having a blue tinge to their beaks, which scientists say indicates poisoning or hypoxia which is lack of oxygen that can confuse animals. The incident in the town of Faenza in northern Italy comes after a series of similar cases across the world in the United States ...

Blackbirds falling in the dead of night: Investigation under way after 1,000 tumble from Arkansas sky Post Date: 2011-12-14 19:51:02 by A K A Stone

Bemused U.S. officials are looking into why more than 1,000 blackbirds crashed from the sky in Arkansas on the final day of 2010. In scenes reminiscent of the FlashForward drama series, state wildlife employees were searching the town of Beebe after scores of birds fell to the ground late on New Year's Eve, continuing into the early hours of the morning. High winds and tornadoes swept through Arkansas on New Year's Eve, killing seven people, and state staff believe the bizarre incident could be down to the severe conditions. Click for Full Text!
Bald Eagles Starving, Falling From Sky in British Columbia Post Date: 2011-12-14 19:48:37 by A K A Stone

Anglers may bemoan poor salmon runs, but for wildlife that depend on them, it's a matter of life and death. Bald eagles in British Columbia are starving, and in some cases literally falling from the sky, due to poor fall-chum-salmon runs. From this story in the Globe & Mail: When David Hancock saw the bald-eagle count on the Chehalis River drop from more than 7,000 to fewer than 400 over a few days in December, he knew a crisis was coming. Earlier this week, news reports that starving eagles were falling out of the sky in the Comox Valley, on Vancouver Island, confirmed his fears. Wildlife rescue centres on the Island have reported birds growing so weak from hunger ...

UN Calls For Eco-Fascist World Government At Durban Summit International Climate Court of Justice would force western nations to pay climate debt Paul Joseph Watson Bureaucrats at the UN Climate Summit in Durban have outlined plans for the most draconian, harebrained and madcap climate change treaty ever produced, under which the west would be mandated to respect the rights of Mother Earth by paying a climate debt which would act as a slush fund for bankrolling an all-powerful world government. Even as the tattered shreds of whatever credibility global warming alarmists had left evaporate in the aftermath of Climategate 2.0, the monstrous ...

Obama calls on Iran to give back downed US drone WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama is pressing his request that Iran return the U.S. surveillance drone captured by the country's armed forces. Obama said he wouldn't comment "on intelligence matters that are classified." But, he said during a White House news conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki that the U.S. wants the top-secret aircraft back. "We have asked for it back. We'll see how the Iranians respond," Obama said. Iran TV reported earlier Monday that Iranian experts were in the final stages of recovering data from the RQ-170 Sentinel, which went down in Iran earlier this month. ...

A U.S. soldier held by the Taliban since 2009 has been recaptured after he went on the run for three days. Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl's daring escape failed when a manhunt was launched in Pakistan to find him, Taliban commanders said. He is now facing his third Christmas in captivity. Sgt Bergdahl has been a prisoner of the Taliban since his capture on June 30, 2009, in Afghanistan. Since then, he has appeared in a least five Taliban propoganda videos, one of which was released in May. Sarkozy: We need Britain, but there are now 'two Europes' Post Date: 2011-12-12 11:35:21 by A K A Stone

PARIS - French President Nicolas Sarkozy admitted on Monday that the European Union was now a two-speed alliance but insisted that Britain would not be forced out of the bloc's single market. Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel fell out with Prime Minister David Cameron at least week's EU summit, when London refused to sign up to a pact imposing closer economic coordination between member states. "We did everything, the chancellor and I, to allow the British to take part in the agreement. But there are now clearly two Europes," Sarkozy said in an interview with the French daily Le Monde. "One wants more solidarity between its members and more regulation. ...

Palestinian villager killed after being shot in the face with a tear gas canister by an Israeli soldier at close range. Nabi Saleh, a small village of about 550 people, 20 km northwest of Ramallah in the West Bank, has been organising non-violent protests against land theft since 2009. On December 9, 2011, the Friday demonstration began as it always did: villagers, international and Israeli activists gathered in the centre of the village and marched towards land usurped by the Israeli settlement of Halamish. Soon after, the Israeli military drove to the entrance of the village in jeeps and began firing teargas at the protesters. Mustafa Tamimi, 28, was protesting with other young men ...
Assad: A dictator in denial Post Date: 2011-12-12 07:23:05 by A K A Stone

You have to hand it to Syria's Bashar Assad; the man's got chutzpah. His interview in Damascus last week with ABC's Barbara Walters was either a case study in delusional thinking or unbounded cynicism. Mr. Assad's amazing performance, in which he denied any role in the killing of thousands of demonstrators protesting his rule, was an uninterrupted outpouring of absurd lies, obfuscations and evasions that would have embarrassed even his murderously deceitful father, the late former president Hafez Assad, from whom he inherited his position. Among the whoppers the dictator unburdened was the assertion that he bore no responsibility whatever for the 3,400 people the United ...
