The greatest story ever distorted
Post Date: 2023-08-07 02:05:41 by Charles_Byrd
A powerful story of forgiveness is found in John 8, involving Jesus and the woman caught in adultery, wherein He famously said, “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.” Her accusers quietly leave, one after another. Jesus then tells her that neither does He accuse her, “But go and sin no more”—a part often ignored today by our “tolerant” society. Click for Full Text!

Post Date: 2023-08-07 02:02:29 by Charles_Byrd
A Russian court convicted imprisoned opposition leader Alexei Navalny of extremism charges and sentenced him to 19 years in prison Friday. Navalny is already serving a nine-year term on a variety of charges that he says were politically motivated. The new charges against the politician related to the activities of Navalny’s anti-corruption foundation and statements by his top associates. It was his fifth criminal conviction, all of which his supporters see as a deliberate Kremlin strategy to silence its most ardent opponent. Click for Full Text!

House Democrats keep pushing for gun control vote
Post Date: 2023-08-06 01:41:07 by Charles_Byrd
House Democrats want gun control. Senate Democrats want gun control. The White House obviously wants it too. Part of the problem for them is that there’s no chance of it getting to President Joe Biden’s desk for a signature. Sure, they passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act last year, but we all know how little that particular measure was ever going to accomplish, even if everything worked as intended with no unintended consequences. Congress has the authority to impose ethics reforms on Supreme Court justices, Justice Elena Kagan said Thursday, wading into a contentious debate that’s overshadowed the high court in the wake of a series of major transgressions.
Post Date: 2023-08-06 01:39:38 by Charles_Byrd
Florida State President Richard McCullough told his board of trustees during a meeting Wednesday that the university would have to "very seriously" consider leaving the ACC unless there is a radical change to the conference's revenue distribution model. McCullough addressed the board to give an update on where Florida State stands after a year spent exploring options about what the future holds in the wake of conference realignment and big money television contracts in the Big Ten and SEC. The moves are in line to put ACC schools $30 million behind per year from a TV revenue distribution standpoint. Click for Full Text!

Tesla sued for false advertising after allegedly exaggerating EV ranges
Post Date: 2023-08-06 01:07:51 by Charles_Byrd
Tesla is already facing the fallout from a report that it exaggerated EV ranges and tried to muffle complaints. Three owners in California have launched a proposed class action lawsuit accusing Tesla of false advertising. The trio claims their cars fell well short of their estimated ranges, and that they've had no success lodging complaints. The customers either wouldn't have bought their cars or would have paid considerably less for them, according to the suit. The owners allege Tesla committed fraud, violated warranties and conducted unfair competition. If the lawsuit gets class action status, it would cover all people in California who bought a Tesla Model 3, Model S, Model X or ...

Text messages provided to the FBI show that a Chinese energy conglomerate that struck a controversial deal in 2017 with Hunter Biden began its pursuit of a relationship with the future first family back in late 2015 when Joe Biden was still vice president, hoping to seize on the name of one of America’s most famous political dynasties to provide cover for its ambitious plan to buy up energy assets inside the United States. “There will be a deal between one of the most prominent families from US and them (China) constructed by me,” Hunter Biden’s business partner James Gilliar texted future partner Tony Bobulinski on Christmas Eve 2015, shortly after Hunter Biden had ...

These Student Loan Borrowers Are Refusing to Pay Their Bills
Post Date: 2023-08-06 00:39:24 by Charles_Byrd
Federal student loan bills return in October. But a growing chorus of borrowers say they simply can’t, or won't pay. That includes Amanda Acevedo, 37, who is raising three kids on a radiographer’s salary and has $40,000 in student debt. For the past three years, she and millions of other Americans didn’t need to worry about student loans after payments were paused at the start of the pandemic. The forbearance allowed her to pay off credit card debt and save for a down payment on a house in Orlando. Click for Full Text!

Post Date: 2023-08-06 00:35:43 by Charles_Byrd
Embattled Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s years-delayed trial on securities fraud charges will have to wait until his separate impeachment trial is concluded, lawyers and the judge in the case said Thursday. During the brief court hearing in Houston that was attended by Paxton, his lawyers asked state District Judge Andrea Beall to delay any decision on setting a trial date until the attorney general’s impeachment trial, set to begin Sept. 5, is finished. Dan Cogdell, one of Paxton’s attorneys, said he expects the impeachment trial to last a couple of weeks. Click for Full Text!
