Anarcho-Tyranny: Police As Guardians Of State Ideology Post Date: 2016-01-28 14:15:51 by nativist nationalist

For a follow-up to James Kirkpatricks post on anarcho-tyranny, try Peter Hitchens column on the British police in last Sundays Daily Mail. (Translation note: Plod is U.K. slang for the police. Mr Plod the policeman is a character in Enid Blytons Noddy books for children.) The police are too powerful. They are also too feeble. Unless we put both these things right very soon, this will become a very dangerous country. We are all less free than we used to be. We have to be careful what we say, especially if we work in the public sector. We are under constant surveillance, from CCTV cameras, and thanks to snoopers who monitor our calls and ...

The video was recorded by Danny Panzella, who is the founder of New York-based police watchdog group Peaceful Streets Project NYC. The video records a NYPD officer telling the police accountability activist that he would be charged with disorderly conduct if he continued recording him. Panzella was with his three-year old son in front of Brooklyns Atlantic Center shopping mall. Thats when he saw a taxi driver being harassed by mall security. State Representative Mike Pitts (R) introduced a bill yesterday that would require journalists working in South Carolina to register with the state or face penalties. Although the bill is not yet in final form, a summary has been provided by the lawmaker. , anyone who wants to work as a journalist in South Carolina must register in order to do so. A "responsible journalist registry" would be established and run by the Secretary of State's Office. And of course, those who do register will have to pay a fee. News organizations would be prohibited from hiring anyone unless that person has been approved by the state. And anyone who works as a journalist without having been ...

When I was nine years old, I was one of the smallest students in my fourth-grade class. With my small size, not to mention my smart mouth, I attracted more than my share of elementary school bullies. One day, two much larger boys stole my lunch box. I couldnt fight them off, but noticed a few moments later that they were fighting each other over a handful of homemade chocolate chip cookies my mother had packed in the lunchbox. While they were distracted, I retrieved my lunchbox with everything but the cookies intact. This incident came to mind when I learned a few days ago that the Department of Justice (DOJ) had ended payouts from its asset forfeiture fund (AFF) to state ...

If Ted Cruz is a "natural born citizen," eligible to be president, what was all the fuss about Obama being born in Kenya? No one disputed that Obama's mother was a U.S. Citizen. Cruz was born in Canada to an American citizen mother and an alien father. If he's eligible to be president, then so was Obama -- even if he'd been born in Kenya. As with most constitutional arguments, whether or not Cruz is a "natural born citizen" under the Constitution apparently comes down to whether you support Cruz for president. (Or, for liberals, whether you think U.S. citizenship is a worthless thing that ought to be extended to every person on the planet.) Forgetting ...
Ted Cruz not the only one with a birther challenge (anchor baby Marco Rubio) Post Date: 2016-01-15 18:47:09 by Hondo68

Washington (CNN)It's not just Sen. Ted Cruz facing birther challenges. Despite Donald Trump's silence on the issue, Sen. Marco Rubio has his own legal challengers. And, Cruz would suggest, Trump himself should be prepared to make his case in court.A federal lawsuit challenging Cruz's eligibility to run for president was filed Thursday, based on the theory espoused by Trump that he may not be a natural-born citizen. But Cruz is not alone -- his fellow Cuban-American presidential candidate and freshman senator is facing similar litigation. The Cruz lawsuit, filed in Texas on Thursday by Newton Boris Schwartz Sr., raises legal uncertainty about whether Cruz qualifies for the ...

Forbesonforb.es/HVjmgr The American Experiment In Liberty Has Failed It is, perhaps, a fact provocative of sour mirth that the Bill of Rights was designed trustfully to prohibit forever two of the favorite crimes of all known governments: the seizure of private property without adequate compensation and the invasion of the citizens liberty without justifiable cause
It is a fact provocative of mirth yet more sour that the execution of these prohibitions was put into the hands of courts, which is to say, into the hands of lawyers, which is to say, into the hands of men specifically educated to discover legal excuses for dishonest, dishonorable and anti-social acts. ______ ...
Op-Ed Is Ted Cruz a 'natural born Citizen'? Not if you're a constitutional originalist. Post Date: 2016-01-11 12:29:50 by cranky

Article II of the Constitution states: No Person except a natural born Citizen . . . shall be eligible to the Office of President. Donald Trump thinks Sen. Ted Cruz is not a natural born Citizen and that he is therefore constitutionally ineligible to be president. Is Trump right? Cruz was born in 1970 in Calgary, Canada, to a U.S. citizen mother and a Cuban citizen father. As to his Article II status, it's all in how you read the Constitution. There are three leading theories of how to interpret the Constitution today. One is textualism: the Constitution means what its words say. The historical context of the words is important when a modern plain meaning is not ...

I am writing to you today to address a concern of such national magnitude that it has the potential of changing our form of government and the power it has over us and our children. I appeal to your sense of decency to study the following facts you may not have considered concerning this matter. All States, except for Hawaii, have numerous applications petitioning Congress to call an Constitutional Article V Convention. One of the most recent ...

Should unionized employees be forced to pay dues to support their unions political positions they oppose? Rebecca Friedrichs says no. She is the lead plaintiff in Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association, which begins oral arguments before the Supreme Court on Monday. The plaintiffs seek to free unionized public sector employees from paying dues on First Amendment grounds. The case has implications for job creators and American employees at large. A plaintiff victory would essentially expand right-to-work nationwide for public sector employees, creating a more vibrant economic climate for job creation and small business. The Volokh Conspiracy Opinion New ATF guidance on gun sales is legally meaningless (or else it would be unlawful) By Jonathan H. Adler January 5 at 11:43 AM Today the White House announced a series of executive branch actions (not executive orders) that are supposed to reduce the threat of gun violence. Chief among these measures is a new guidance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) concerning when those who sell guns are required to obtain a federal license and perform background checks of prospective gun purchasers. The ATF is also finalizing a regulation that would prevent prospective gun purchasers from avoiding background checks by acquiring guns ...
GOP field wants no part of Oregon standoff Post Date: 2016-01-04 20:43:38 by Willie Green

Washington (CNN)A standoff in Oregon is one clash over the federal government's role that the Republican presidential field wants no part of. An armed group of protesters, including two brothers whose family was involved in a similar clash in 2014, took control Saturday of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge building, a federal facility near Burns, Oregon. They've said they won't leave and want the government to hand over land resources there. But conservatives who are in many cases sympathetic to their cause criticized their tactics on Monday, as the standoff rippled through the presidential campaign trail. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio called them "lawless." Texas Sen. ...

WASHINGTON, D.C.Offensive terms can receive trademark protection, and Congresss 70-year-old statute to the contrary violates the First Amendment, a federal appeals court held in a case that is likely to now go before the Supreme Court. Article I of the Constitution includes the provision that Congress has power to grant patents and copyrights. In 1946, Congress passed the Lanham Act, the modern version of the law securing trademark rights. Section 2(a) of that federal statute forbids the Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) from granting trademarks for scandalous, immoral, or disparaging remarks. EXCLUSIVE: DHS placing patriots on domestic terror watch lists in unlawful attempt to escalate violent interactions with police Post Date: 2015-12-23 07:11:31 by Stoner

(NaturalNews) EXCLUSIVE: The Department of Homeland Security is intentionally placing local law enforcement in harm's way by knowing (and falsely) entering the license plates of patriot-oriented radio hosts in the federal "terror watch" database. The aim of this tactic is to intentionally cause escalations of high-tension interactions between local police and pro-gun patriots, knowing that local law enforcement will respond to terror watch list hits with an escalated engagement posture involving firearms being drawn and pointed at the suspects. The DHS -- obviously at the command of an anti-American Obama regime that absolutely despises both patriots and police officers -- is ...
Bill of Rights Day: A Day of Mourning Post Date: 2015-12-15 17:25:45 by Hondo68

Editors Note: Bill of Rights Day is December 15th. But as Kevin Gutzman points out in this article, originally published December 14, 2009, its not a day of celebration. Instead, it should be a day of mourning for the death of decentralized self-government. In 2008, the Supreme Court of the United States decided Kennedy v. Louisiana. In that decision, the Court created a new categorical right to rape a child without receiving the death penalty. Although the majority made mention of the Eighth Amendments prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment, no one really believed that this new right had any basis in the Constitution. The Court majority claimed that ...

Its almost as if these crises were tailor-made to push their agenda. The Supreme Court on Monday declined to review the ability of cities and states to prohibit semiautomatic high-capacity assault weapons that have been used in some of the nations most deadly recent mass shootings. The justices decided not to reconsider a lower courts decision in a case from the city of Highland Park, Ill., near Chicago. But seven states Maryland, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York have similar bans, and all of the prohibitions remain in place. Justices Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia said the court should review the ban, which flouts the courts Second Amendment jurisprudence. They ...

The growing political influence of Latinos could be slowed by a Supreme Court case over the constitutional requirement to make electoral districts roughly equal in population. Two voters in Texas are asking the court, in arguments set for Tuesday, to order a drastic change in the way Texas and all other states divide their electoral districts. Rather than basing the maps on total population, including non-citizens and children who aren't old enough to vote, states must count only people who are eligible to vote, the challengers say. They argue that change is needed to carry out the principle of one person, one vote. They claim that taking account of total population can lead to vast ...
