North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un is traveling to eastern Russia to meet President Vladimir Putin. Washington threatened to increase sanctions on Pyongyang in response. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesman, described the meeting as a full- state visit. “There will be talks between the two delegations. And after that, if necessary, the leaders will continue their communication in a one-on-one format,” he said. “We will continue to strengthen our friendship.” The leaders will meet in Vladivostok. Ukrainian President Zelensky spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu by phone on Thursday. The leaders discussed how Tel Aviv could support Kyiv’s fight against Russia and the potential deployment of Israeli police to Ukraine to support Jewish pilgrims. The Biden administration is planning to send controversial depleted uranium munitions to Ukraine, for the first time, as part of a new package of aid being announced Wednesday. This week saw widespread air strikes on the Russian Federation involving mass aerial drone attacks. Six regions were attacked including the capital, Moscow. Among the targets was the Kursk region where a nuclear plant is located. Several international airports across Russia were temporarily shut down. This is an incredible situation in which Russian territory is being targeted by a military assault not seen since the Great Patriotic War against Nazi Germany. There were several military coups in West Africa lately. Mostly in former French colonies, and in many ways “neo-colonies” of France, that do arguably more harm to the Sahel countries than the more than 300 years of French “on-the-ground” colonies, or enslavement. North Korea staged a nuclear strike drill on South Korea in protest of the country’s military drills conducted with the United States in the surrounding region, state outlet KCNA reported Thursday. North Korea fired two ballistic missiles into the sea on Wednesday night in a vision of how the country could eventually launch a nuclear strike against South Korea, according to KCNA. Recently, I learned that Russia feels betrayed that NATO is involved in Ukraine, for Moscow views this is in violation of promises made at the negotiations for the reunification of Germany. The Russian Defense Ministry said Tuesday that its forces destroyed a US- made military boat carrying a Ukrainian assault team near Snake Island in the northern Black Sea. The ministry identified the boat as a Sea Force, a patrol boat made by Willard Marine, an American company based in California. Airports in Moscow temporarily halted service for the second day in a row on Tuesday as Ukrainian drones again targeted the region, part of Kyiv’s strategy to bring the war to Russian civilians. Andrey Vorobyev, governor of the Moscow Oblast, said two drones were intercepted in the region and fell outside of the capital city of Moscow. Polish President Andrzej Duda said Tuesday that Russia has been moving nuclear weapons into Belarus and said the deployment changes the “security architecture” of the region.
