Post Date: 2018-07-23 09:17:22 by misterwhite
A black owner of a gourmet lemonade stand in San Francisco claims he was approached by police officers on Thursday after someone in the neighborhood thought he was breaking into his own business. Viktor Stevenson, the owner of Gourmonade, said four San Francisco Police Department officers approached him last week when he was checking the security system of his lemonade kiosk. One officer, according to him, had a hand on his gun, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Four cops just hopped out on me guns almost drawn took my ID at my own store. This racist thing is out of control but it won't stop me! Living my dreams like they are golden because they are, Stevenson wrote on ...

Megan OGrady cant recall how she came up with the idea. She had never sewn anything in her life and her family didnt own a sewing machine. She just knew she had to give families something to hold on to a piece of what theyd lost. She learned every step from her grandmother how to stuff, sew and embroider. Constructing each bear was a lengthy process. She had to cut the uniform, stuff the head, body and limbs, and stitch the pieces together. Then add the eyes and nose, and embroider a shield on the chest, personalized to include the officers last name and badge number. She placed stripes on the shoulder for rank or service, and a blue ribbon ...

GREAT FALLS, MTAfter getting pulled over for driving 40 miles per hour in a 35-mph zone Friday afternoon, local landscaper and Bible study leader Victor Jenkins graciously let Officer Elizabeth Carpenter of the Great Falls Police Department off with a stern warning for taking on the role of a police officer. Do you know why I pulled you over? Officer Carpenter asked after walking up to Jenkins rolled-down window. Yes, yes I do. Its because youve assumed a directly authoritative role in opposition to the naturally revealed guidelines of the Creator, maam, Jenkins said calmly. Since the curse in Genesis 3, woman has always ...

The incident happened after neighbors complained about the dog and an Animal Control officer was sent to the owner's home. Signs at the front of the home give a fair warning of what to expect, and neighbors said trouble with the owner's dogs is not a surprise. On Monday afternoon, before the attack, an Animal Control officer ...

Veteran can't sue for false arrest
Post Date: 2018-06-04 17:37:08 by tpaine
Army veteran suffering from PTSD tells VA therapist he thought about shooting Louisville, Ky. police officer (who cited him for minor traffic violation) but that he did not intend to do it. A VA staff member informs the police (without the therapist's say-so). The (Louisville, Ky) officer gets the veteran charged with making terroristic threats, neglects to mention therapist's belief that veteran was not a risk. The veteran spends 10 days in jail before charges dismissed. Sixth Circuit Decision: The officer had a warrant, so the veteran can't sue for false arrest (though he might have been more successful had he raised different claims).
Jury awards family four dollars in wrongful death suit against cops
Post Date: 2018-06-01 13:49:37 by Tooconservative
This is a rather creepy story out of Florida (where else) which deserves a bit more attention. Four years ago, Florida Sheriffs Deputy Christopher Newman shot and killed Gregory Vaughn Hill Jr. while responding with his partner to reports of a disturbance involving loud music. Since Hill was black and Newman is white, an investigation was immediately convened with the usual media focus on possible motivations involving racism. A grand jury was convened to examine the case and they opted not to indict Newman, placing nearly all the blame on Hill for the result of the encounter. That led to a wrongful death suit being filed by Hills family in civil court. That case drew to a ...

Following reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) used at least one spy to secretly surveil members of the Trump campaign, fired former FBI director James Comey lashed out at critics of his agencys activities during the 2016 election. Facts matter. The FBIs use of Confidential Human Sources (the actual term) is tightly regulated and essential to protecting the country, Comey tweeted on May 23. Attacks on the FBI and lying about its work will do lasting damage to our country.
