Welcome to Donald Trump’s banana republic. “We’re going to have protests, demonstrations,” says Trump surrogate and confidante Roger Stone. “We will disclose the hotels and the room numbers of those delegates who are directly involved in the steal. If you’re from Pennsylvania, we’ll tell you who the culprits are. We urge you to visit their hotel and find them.” This is the Trump-world version of a counterpunch. Lose in a delegate-selection process you’ve known about for a year but didn’t prepare for. Respond with brutish threats of mayhem and personal harm. Some presidential candidates tease out the latent idealism of their fellow ...

Will 'Ron Paul primary' decide GOP nomination? (500 RP 'lost delegates' choose)

Exclusive: Doug Wead reveals how secret 'lost delegates' could pick nomineeFormer Rep. Ron Paul (Photo: Facebook) Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are locked into a death embrace for delegates to the Republican National Convention. The showdown seems headed to California. But there is another block of delegates, big enough to settle the contest on the first ballot and, if not then, certainly on the second. I will call them the lost delegates. Whoever finds them first just might be the nominee. I am talking about the old Ron Paul delegates from the Tampa Convention in 2012. Several hundred of them are even now still in place, headed to the 2016 RNC in Cleveland. They are scattered across ...

Exclusive: Reince Priebus to RNC: Leave Convention Rules Alone Next Week in Hollywood, Let Delegates Themselves Handle in Cleveland

The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus, has warned off members of the RNC from making any changes to the Republican National Convention rules at next week’s spring meeting of the 168-member organization, Breitbart News has learned. “Reince believes strongly that the rules of the convention should be set by the delegates who have been elected by the grassroots activists of Republican voters,” Sean Spicer, the RNC’s chief spokesman, said in an email late Saturday. “He is asking the RNC members to leave it up to them.” Normally, at the spring meeting before a presidential nominating convention, the RNC members would provide a series ...

How Trump can lock up GOP nomination before the convention

To all the political junkies yearning for a contested Republican convention this summer: not so fast. It's still possible for Donald Trump to clinch the nomination by the end of the primaries on June 7. His path is narrow and perilous. But it's plausible and starts with a big victory Tuesday in his home state New York primary. Trump is the only candidate with a realistic chance of reaching the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the nomination before the July convention in Cleveland. His rivals, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, can only hope to stop him. If Cruz and Kasich are successful, politicos across the country will have the summer of their dreams - a convention ...

Sarah Palin speaks during a panel discussion before a preview of the film "Climate Hustle" on Capitol Hill, on Thursday.Voters will "rise up" in opposition if Republican power brokers try to take the presidential nomination away from Donald Trump or Ted Cruz at the GOP convention this summer, Sarah Palin said Thursday in a wide-ranging interview. The 2008 vice presidential nominee told The Associated Press that GOP voters have the right to decide the party's nominee and will rebel if House Speaker Paul Ryan or some other "white ...

The strategist publicly questions Trump’s electability, but privately his PAC tells donors Trump can win. Previously, Karl Rove has repeatedly suggested that Trump is too toxic to win a general election.Karl Rove has publicly blasted Donald Trump as “a petty man consumed by resentment and bitterness” with little gravitas and almost no chance of beating Hillary Clinton. But privately, the super PAC conceived by Rove is suggesting to its donors that it can help Trump win the White House and save Republican senators whose reelection bids could be jeopardized by having Trump at the top of the ticket. The apparent warming of the American Crossroads super PAC and its sister groups ...

(CNN) — Palm Beach County Florida State Attorney David Aronberg will not prosecute Donald Trump's campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, Aronberg announced Thursday. "As state attorney I have made the decision that this office will not be filing charges against Corey Lewandowski for battery," Aronberg said at a news conference. A former reporter for Breitbart, Michelle Fields, sought charges against Lewandowski after an incident in March where she said Lewandowski pulled her away from Trump as she was trying to ask him a question. Aronberg said police were within their right to charge Lewandowski, but prosecutors are held to a higher standard and thus didn't find ...

Donald Trump vs. Howard Roark: Who Could Build a Classier Building?

Who would have thought Donald Trump had great love for books? (Besides his own Art of the Deal and The Holy Bible, of course.) He now tells USA Today that he's: an Ayn Rand fan. He said of her novel The Fountainhead, “It relates to business (and) beauty (and) life and inner emotions. That book relates to ... everything.” He identified with Howard Roark, the novel's idealistic protagonist who designs skyscrapers and rages against the establishment. When I pointed out that The Fountainhead is in a way about the tyranny of groupthink, Trump sat up and said, “That’s what is happening ...

Before we begin, can we stop referring to Wisconsin as "Midwestern nice"? That's all we've heard since Ted Cruz beat Donald Trump there: Wisconsinites are just so nice, they couldn't abide Trump's rough style. Does anyone remember the whole taking over the capitol thing? How they nearly recalled a sitting governor a few years ago? Remember the protesters fighting with cops, rounds of arrests in the rotunda, the drum circles and chanting? How about the midnight raids on citizens for supporting the "Wisconsin Budget Repair Bill"? Wisconsin is a lot of things, but "nice" is not one of them. "Soviet" is more like it. Former California GOP Chair: Ted Cruz ‘Better Positioned’ to Win State

Former California Republican Party chairman Tom Del Beccaro told Breitbart News on Tuesday that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is “better positioned” to win the state’s primary June 7, thanks to superior organization and the fact that only registered Republicans will be able to participate. “Given the Cruz organization’s head start, he is better positioned than [Donald] Trump,” Del Beccaro said. Del Beccaro, who led the state party during the last presidential election, is also running in 2016, hoping to replace retiring Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) in the U.S. Senate. Another former state GOP chair, Mike Schroeder, is working officially as Cruz’s California ...

RNC member: Trump can win with 1,100 delegates

Republican National Committee member Randy Evans said Wednesday that Donald Trump would likely be able to secure the Republican nomination if he captures anything more than 1,100 delegates, short of the 1,237 delegates needed for a simple majority. RNC Rules Committeeman: A Deal Likely to Be Cut in Cleveland [VP Palooza]

With the growing likelihood of a brokered convention, lots of ink and pixels has been spilled on what might happen if there isn't a first ballot winner in Cleveland. This morning on the Michael Graham show, a new theory was offered by RNC National Committeeman of Georgia Randy Evans, who sits on the influential rules committee. "I would venture to bet that what eventually will happen is we're gonna see two of the candidates cut a deal," Evans said. "And they're gonna say, you get your delegates to us, you'll be the VP, we're gonna run as a ticket. And literally, what you could do in the oddest sort of way, is have the first ballot be two ticket ballots: ...

Op-Ed by Nick Bernabe “Now it’s just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or to elect the president. And the same thing applies to governors, and U.S. senators and congress members.” – Former President Jimmy Carter The 2016 election has been a wild ride, with two insurgent grassroots campaigns literally giving the political establishment a run for its money. But as the events of this presidential primary season play out, it’s becoming clear the U.S. election — and even more so, the presidential race — is a big scam being perpetrated on the American people. Scott Walker Tries To Shift 2016 T-Shirts To Pay Off $1.2M Campaign Debt

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) could use a hand. Still saddled with $1.2 million in debt by his unsuccessful campaign for the GOP presidential nomination, the Wisconsin governor sent a fundraising email to supporters asking them to help dig him out in exchange for a 2016 t-shirt. “I cannot stand to see them go to waste,” Walker said in the fundraising email, noting that he was himself a “thrifty” shopper who liked to hit up sales racks for deals. Any supporter who donates $45 to his campaign earns a free shirt. The downside for potential T-shirt recipients? The items they get might not fit. Walker said in his email that due to a “lack of resources,” the ...

'What the hell are we doing in this country?': Did John Kasich just defend LGBT rights?

You needed a pollster to count how many times he said "hell." But one thing was for sure – John Kasich was getting real during a town hall Monday night. In the event televised by CNN, the Ohio governor and presidential candidate asked "what the hell" was happening in the U.S. after Mississippi passed a law allowing businesses to deny services to gay and transgender customers. "I read about this thing they did in Mississippi, where apparently you can deny somebody service because they're gay?" Kasich said. "What the hell are we doing in this country?" Kasich said while he may not choose that lifestyle, it doesn't mean he has to "go ...

Colorado Proves Donald Trump Can’t Handle The Rigors Of A Campaign [Old Cardburner Exposed!]

By the end of a statewide assembly on Saturday, Sen. Ted Cruz swept up all of Colorado’s 34 delegates to the Republican National Convention. Donald Trump received none. Trump and his supporters aren’t taking it well. While Colorado Republicans have long held assemblies to pick nominees for various offices, this past year the party decided to cancel its traditional presidential preference poll component after the national party changed its rules to require a state’s delegates to be bound to support the candidate who wins the caucus vote. The decision was made in August of last year, giving campaigns plenty of time to prepare for the change. Here’s how the Tiger Beat For ...

Fear Not a Brokered Convention
Post Date: 2016-04-12 07:04:43 by Tooconservative

With Ted Cruz’s victory in last week's Wisconsin primary, the odds are rising that the Republican party will have a "contested" or "brokered" convention in Cleveland this summer. That presents a host of questions, not only about how such a process would work but whether it would be legitimate. Party conventions seem to be like an appendix on the body politic, a vestigial institution that we have little use for. But the convention was once a democratic reform. The first one was held in 1831 by the Anti-Masonic party, which chose former attorney general William Wirt as its presidential nominee. Until then, presidential and vice-presidential nominations had been ...

Trump Is The Weakest GOP Front-Runner In The Modern Era

Despite getting drubbed in Wisconsin this week, Donald Trump has won more votes than any other Republican candidate this year. So, he’s doing OK, right? Well, for all the talk that unbound delegates and quirky convention rules could prevent Trump from winning the GOP nomination, it’s easy to forget that Republican voters also play a part. Trump’s 37 percent of the cumulative primary vote and 46 percent of delegates won so far may sound impressive, but his percentages make him the weakest Republican front-runner, at this point in the process, in decades. Of course, a front-runner is still a front-runner, but by historical standards Trump is limping along — hence the ...

GOP Convention rigging exposed: Pirro and Trump rip apart Republican Establishment, dual monarchy

Pirro said that she has “had it with the Establishment’s plans for a not so secret convention coup” and is angry with the GOP’s ‘convention rigging.’ During Pirro’s opening statement she pointed out how the GOP is doing everything in their power to pull the ropes, how they want them to be pulled, by taking away the American peoples vote, making up the rules as they go. Yesterday, CR reported that the deadline to change party registration for registered voters in New York State was in October of last year. Strict voter registration rules for New York's primary could end up badly hurting Donald Trump. Voters previously unaffiliated with a political party were required to register with a party before Oct. 9th of last year in order to vote in this year's primary. These rules mean that at least two of Donald Trump's four adult children will be unable to vote for their father in New York on April 19th.  Yahoo News recently reported, that Ivanka and Eric Trump are not registered in a political party in New York State.   Donald ...
