Detroit Lives: Documentary by Johnny Knoxville Post Date: 2011-03-09 07:52:18 by A K A Stone

Johnny Knoxville made a trip to Detroit, MI to find the positives in the city. Since most mainstream media sources love to pick out blighted areas and condemn the city as crime-ridden and dangerous, he felt there was another side to the story that was being overlooked. to me this is the closest example of how anarchy works. the government destroyed this city, and the people have built it back. so many examples of free market, agorism, and individualism in this

KAMAL ABBAS: I am speaking to you from a place very close to Tahrir Square in Cairo, "Liberation Square", which was the heart of the Revolution in Egypt. This is the place were many of our youth paid with their lives and blood in the struggle for our just rights. From this place, I want you to know that we stand with you as you stood with us. I want you to know that no power can challenge the will of the people when they believe in their rights. When they raise their voices loud and clear and struggle against exploitation. No one believed that our revolution could succeed against the strongest dictatorship in the region. But in 18 days the revolution achieved the victory of the ...

“Good old Grateful Dead”?: Furthur delivers Post Date: 2010-10-03 17:57:44 by Ferret Mike

Yeah, Fake Jerry!, screamed an enthusiastic, middle-aged man from about six rows back. I heard more than a few fans laugh above the music as Furthur guitarist John Kadlecik riffed and sang through a beautifully bouncy version of China Cat Sunflower to open the second set of Thursday nights show. Like many Furthur audiences Ive seen in the past year, Eugene openly embraced this ensemble of Grateful Dead veterans Phil Lesh and Bob Weir. Phil Lesh (bass, vocals) Bob Weir (rhythm guitar, vocals) Filling out the band were drummer Joe Russo, lead guitarist Kadlecik and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, Jeff Pehrson and Sunshine Garcia Becker sang ...
James McMurtry played in Eugene last night -- He Rocks Post Date: 2010-10-02 10:44:39 by Ferret Mike

I have been watching this guy fro Austin, TX's videos on You Tube and so when I saw the poster for the show, I had to see it. The WOW Hall is an old wooden building run like a coop as it was us, the people of Eugene who bought it and saved it turning it into Eugene's best counter-culture music venue. The place was packed, much older then the usual crowd, and everyone was there knowing this would be quite the experience, and it was. I was highly impressed with how him and his band rocked. I talked to a friend who saw the Portland show the night before, and he said there was obviously a very tight resonance between James and the Eugene crowd. James knew he was in Kesey/ Grateful ...

Obama Voter Tells Him (To His Face)'I'm Exhausted of Defending You" (VIDEO- ROTFLMAO) September 20, 2010 Obama spoke at a townhall meeting today in Washington D.C. when this woman expressed her disappointment in the Obama Administration. Notice how the president laughs off her comments. "I'm one of your middle class Americans. And quite frankly, I'm exhausted. Exhausted of defending you, defending your administration, defending the mantle of change that I voted for," a woman told President Obama at a town hall. From New York Times She described herself as a chief financial officer, a mother and a military veteran said she was disappointed that Mr. Obama ...

Saw Shinedown at Xfest Yesterday Post Date: 2010-09-13 08:06:34 by A K A Stone

I went to Xfest yesterday. There were 10 bands that played. I didn't see them all. The ones I saw were Drowning pool. They were ok. Papa Roach sucked and the singer had a foul mouth. Sick Puppies from Australia were very good. Seether really rocked. But I was really impressed with Shinedown. I've heard some of their music before but never knew who they were or what their name was. I was very impressed. They were a class act. The Singer whatever his name was wore a suit and tie and the way he spoke to the audience really impressed me. There music was great. I am now a fan. Here is some of their music.
