Is Maxine Waters Really As Dumb As She Seems?

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke delivered his semi-annual testimony before the House Committee on Financial Services today. He pretty much said what was expected: the economy is recovering but still fragile; the job market is improving, but is still horrible; inflation is low now, but the Fed needs to keep an eye on it in the future. As a result, interest rates are likely to remain low for an "extended period." All on script. But there was an interchange between one lawmaker and Bernanke that deserves your attention. Please watch this video of Congresswoman Maxine Waters - in it, she demonstrates that there is obviously NO intelligence requirement necessary to be named to ...

Max Blumenthal, You’re Being Booger-Boarded Max Blumenthal has an amazing thesis: All conservatives and Republicans are beneath contempt. He also has an amazing line of work. He is underwritten by various media organs to prove his thesis. In a previous era, Blumenthal and said media organs (Salon, Independent Film Channel, Huffington Post, etc.) were able to get away with this pathetic arrangement. But now, we are on to Max, the spawn of Sid “Vicious” Blumenthal – he who attempted to ruin Monica Lewinsky’s life by falsely portraying her as Bill Clinton’s “stalker.” The Blumenthal operation is now under the extremely close scrutiny of a camelid ...

Hard of hearing? Here is a cheap solution

Ever seen those late-night tv ads for "spy devices that allow you to listen in on conversations!" Guess what? They really do work, and they are a very effective cheap solution for those of us who have damaged hearing and can hear sound but not well enough to make out words. I had gotten to the point where I usually had to go to the close-captioned option when watching movies, and ALWAYS had to do that if the actors had any sort of accent. People would talk to me in a normal voice, and I was having to ask them what they said two or three times to figure it out. Well,I stopped off at the Dollar General store yesterday to buy some items I needed, and spotted one of these devices on ...

MIAMI — When Jeb Bush left office four years ago, his public appearances were as scarce as bi-partisan man hugs. He didn't want to upstage his successor in the governor's mansion nor his brother in the White House. Instead, he quietly cashed in by joining corporate boards and an elite speakers bureau, penned policy essays and gave infrequent interviews to conservative media. But in recent months, as the Republican Party of Florida has grappled with a leadership vacuum, Bush's political profile has grown as fast as the national deficit. He headlined a fundraiser for Bill McCollum's gubernatorial campaign, starred in a YouTube video touting Jeff Atwater's campaign ...

Police fight cellphone recordings - Witnesses taking audio of officers arrested, charged with illegal surveillance

Simon Glik, a lawyer, was walking down Tremont Street in Boston when he saw three police officers struggling to extract a plastic bag from a teenager’s mouth. Thinking their force seemed excessive for a drug arrest, Glik pulled out his cellphone and began recording. Within minutes, Glik said, he was in handcuffs. “One of the officers asked me whether my phone had audio recording capabilities,’’ Glik, 33, said recently of the incident, which took place in October 2007. Glik acknowledged that it did, and then, he said, “my phone was seized, and I was arrested.’’ The charge? Illegal electronic surveillance. Jon Surmacz, 34, experienced a similar ...

Ecological disaster has long been a hallmark motif in many science fiction stories and movies, from "The Day of the Triffids," where alien plants take over earth to "Them," the classic science-fiction movie about ants transformed into giant arthropods by the atomic bomb. In the Hugo-winning science fiction novel "The Sheep Look Up" by John Brunner, (perhaps the ultimate environmental disaster novel), the final solution to stopping the environment from being destroyed by man is to kill off the most "wasteful" nation on earth, the American people! James Cameron's new sci-fi extravaganza, "Avatar," set to open Friday, says virtually the ...

REVIEW: Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Is a Big, Dull, America-Hating, PC Revenge Fantasy
Post Date: 2009-12-13 18:37:20 by Mad Dog

Absent from the big screen for over a decade now, Oscar-winning director James Cameron returns armed with a reported half-billion dollars, a story he’s been desperate to tell for 15 years, and the very latest in cutting-edge visual technology. The result is “Avatar,” a sanctimonious thud of a movie so infested with one-dimensional characters and PC clichés that not a single plot turn – small or large – surprises. I call it the “liberal tell,” where the early and obvious politics of the film gives away the entire story before the second act begins, and “Avatar” might be the sorriest example of this yet. For all the time and money and ...

Carville's advice for Woods: 'Shut up'

James Carville has some advice for Tiger Woods: 'Shut up.' The political consultant, who has helped deal with the fallout from sex scandals of his own bosses, said Tiger should lay low and avoid any media stunts. "Don't go into rehab," Carville said on Dan Patrick's radio show today. "Don't go on Dr. Phil or any of that." Instead, Carville said Tiger's message should be simple: "I'm going to concentrate on being a better golfer and a better person, and I'll see you on the links. Goodbye." There's no use in Tiger trying to restore his image, Carville said, because "his image is gone." Listen to audio of ...

The Bengali government has blocked access to video -sharing giant YouTube today after a video was posted showing a meeting between the Prime Minister and army soldiers. Over 200 guards have been arrested for their connection to the mutiny, and hundreds more are currently being sought.
