Church of England considers abandoning Christianity

The Church of England convened a synod this past week, a gathering of bishops, clergy and laypeople for the purpose of reviewing and possibly changing church doctrine. The result of this particular gathering was that the national assembly voted, after two days of debate, to let Anglican priests bless same-sex weddings and civil partnerships. On Friday, Aug. 18, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod’s (LCMS) Office of International Mission (OIM) hosted a Day of Thanksgiving to celebrate missionaries who have recently finished their service, recognize alumni missionaries and send first-time missionaries to the mission field. Either it progresses towards higher, God-pleasing, more exclusive worship practice and proclamation, or it moves towards more generalized, ecumenical, and man- pleasing practice. Several days ago, Beth Moore’s home church hosted an interfaith dialogue between Rev. Michael Dearman, a priest from HopePointe Anglican Church who is married to Rev. Katie Dearman, and Osman Fuad, the Iman and resident scholar at the Woodlands Islamic Center. The event took place at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church, a liturgical church within the Diocese of the Western Gulf Coast, which is part of the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA.) The historic church used to partake in a set of daily services called the Daily Office. This kept people connected to God and in community with His Word throughout their working lives. While most churches do not observe these Daily Offices today, we still retain their settings, and they are certainly beneficial to incorporate into the life of the church, devotions with family, or other settings. Today, we look at the order of Vespers and some appropriate hymns to accompany it. Brian Houston has been crooning and crowing after being acquitted on charges that he concealed his father’s sexual abuse of a minor by not reporting it to the police. It’s an odd boast, given that he did conceal it and did not go to the police after learning that his father was a pedophile. Willie McLaurin, the interim president and CEO of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee (SBC EC), has voluntarily stepped down from his post. The resignation came after revelations of falsified credentials on his resume, which he had admitted to SBC EC leaders. McLaurin, who had claimed on his resume that he held degrees from North Carolina Central University, Duke University Divinity School, and Hood Theological Seminary confessed on Thursday that this was untrue. @DonnieDarkened joins me for one of the most fascinating discussions I've had in while. DD lays out the case that Trump is fulfilling Biblical prophecy—as the anti-Christ, not the Messiah. I'm not a Christian, but I do find the correspondences rather uncanny. My stance (similar to @Know_More_News ) is that powerful people might be actively and consciously "fulfilling prophecy."
