New Research Shows Alcohol Delivery Is Not to Blame for Increased Drinking
Post Date: 2023-04-21 01:22:46 by Charles_Byrd
When it comes to Americans drinking during COVID-19, two things are clear. First, to-go and delivery alcohol laws spread across the country in unprecedented ways. Second, drinking went up. Given these two trends, opponents of alcohol delivery have suggested that allowing more alcohol delivery caused the uptick in drinking. But there is no data to actually back this up. The liberalization of alcohol delivery laws was previously blamed for increases in drunk-driving deaths and underage drinking. But as in those instances, claims about alcohol delivery and increased overall drinking have been largely conjured out of thin air. Despite the pandemic starting over three years ago, there have been ...

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Sen. Edward Markey of Massachusetts will reintroduce their sweeping climate resolution, the Green New Deal, on Thursday, The Washington Post reported. The Green New Deal was originally introduced in 2019, receiving criticism from conservatives — and even some Democrats — as unrealistic and expensive, and sought to mobilize the U.S. “on a scale not seen since World War 2” in a bid to implement climate policies. Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna, alongside Markey, will also introduce a Green New Deal for Health, which would provide $100 billion in federal funds to medical facilities that will cut emissions and focus on ...

Progressive Policies Keep Los Angeles in Declared Emergency
Post Date: 2023-04-11 18:29:50 by Charles_Byrd
Not long ago, homelessness could only be found in certain areas of a city or community that locals called skid row. That no longer is true, especially for the city of Los Angeles, where homeless encampments line nearly every major street. During the Covid pandemic, homeless numbers in Los Angeles grew, but were basically ignored as thousands built permanent tent cities along the streets of the City of Angels, while city leaders instead focused on the government instituted Covid-19 state of emergency. That state of emergency gave emergency powers to city officials that affected many aspects of everyday life. Click for Full Text!
