The 14 new charges were filed in Wake County. Click for Full Text!

The Tea Party, Fifteen Years Later
Post Date: 2022-12-16 17:31:26 by Charles_Byrd

December 16, 2022, is the fifteenth anniversary of the modern Tea Party. That fact will come as a surprise to many readers who take the mainstream narrative about the Tea Party at face value. The mainstream account begins on February 19, 2009, when Rick Santelli, live on CNBC from the trading floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), declared a rebellion against "socialism" one month into the Obama administration. If you’re already sensing something amiss, that’s understandable. An editor at establishment NBC lighting the fire of an anti-establishment rebellion? An uprising over mere proposed Obama bailouts of mortgage holders coming four months after silence over ...

The New York Times and its clones in cable news and print media are eager to remind us of their devotion to “marginalized groups.” These groups aren’t actually marginalized, as you know. They and their political demands are supported and celebrated in academia, the media, entertainment, media, the Fortune 500, the mainline Christian denominations — pretty much every major institution in American society. That’s what “marginalized” means to CNN. Click for Full Text!

A pro-Beijing student who stalked and threatened a pro-democracy activist has been arrested, said U.S. prosecutors on Wednesday. According to the Justice Department, Wu Xiaolei, 25, a student at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, a private institution commonly regarded as the largest independent college of contemporary music in the world, saw someone posting flyers on October 22 near the university containing messages that said “Stand with Chinese People,” “We Want Freedom,” and “We Want Democracy.” Click for Full Text!

Oregon Judge Shreds State’s Defense, Extends Ban on Measure 114

Robert Raschio, presiding judge for Oregon’s 24th Judicial District, heard arguments on both sides of the issue on Tuesday and then extended the ban on implementation of Measure 114, while lambasting the state’s defense. At issue is just the part of the law — which was narrowly passed in November — that restricts the sale, ownership, or possession of magazines to 10 rounds or fewer. Raschio has put in place a separate ban on implementing the rest of Measure 114. Click for Full Text!

AOC’s Climate-change Documentary Flops at Box Office

If you hadn’t heard that far-Left Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D- N.Y.) had produced and starred in a new film about her fight for a “Green New Deal,” you’re not alone. Released in 120 theaters last Friday, AOC’s new film, To the End, took in less than $10,000 in its opening weekend — a paltry $80 per theater. The schoolgirl congresswoman first came to relevance in 2018 when she won a House seat in the Democratic stronghold known as New York’s 14th District by ousting long-term Democrat Joe Crowley in a primary upset. AOC quickly made climate change her signature issue, having famously quipped, “The world is gonna end in 12 years if we ...

Elizabeth Warren's Crypto Bill Targets Financial Freedom, Not Fraud

Beyond politically connected scammers and frothy valuations, the attractiveness of cryptocurrencies lies in their potential for doing what cash does, but across distances. When governments inflate money, people turn to other stores of value, including crypto. When politicians and their financial-sector accomplices block transactions of which they disapprove, people look for alternative means of doing deals without permission, crypto among them. So, when officials talk of stripping privacy and autonomy from cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, you know they would do the same to cash if they could. "Rogue nations, oligarchs, drug lords, and human traffickers are using digital assets to ...

FBI Should Have 14 Days, Not 66 Years, to Produce Seth Rich Information: Lawyer

The FBI should only have 14 days, not 66 years, to produce information from Seth Rich’s laptop computer, a lawyer argued in a new court filing. After a U.S. judge ordered the FBI to produce the information, the bureau said that it should not be required to hand it over because of exemptions to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). And if the bureau still had to produce the information, government lawyers said it should have 66 years because it needs to review the information and redact certain information. Bluffing their way to an Article V Convention, Part 2: The best PR money can buy
Post Date: 2022-12-15 20:27:38 by Charles_Byrd

In Part 1, we saw that ever since 1907, 2/3 or more of the States have had at least one active application on record asking Congress to call a convention under Article V. And if Congress is hoodwinked into validating all non- rescinded applications by passing H.R.8419 or its 2023 counterpart,[1] Congress will likely trigger the first constitutional convention since 1787. So why wasn’t Congress deceived into calling a convention 50 or 100 years ago? Perhaps it’s because the PR industry hadn’t come of age yet! To justify a “call,” Congress, whose priority is getting re-elected, would require considerable constituent pressure— Click for Full Text!

Government Must OUTLAW Religious Conversions, Says Writer

“Government must see to it that conversions, whether open or on the sly, must be stopped,” opines writer Sumit Paul. “Mankind has already had enough of God and religion. Decentralization, Freedom, and Peace Are the Pillars of a Free Society

Classical liberal tradition defends the right of secession on many grounds. One of the main reasons is that the territorial dispersion of power limits political domination much more than formal constitutions do. Small states cannot easily adopt protectionist policies and their political classes are closely controlled by the citizens; in addition, redistribution is more difficult and rulers have more direct information about their own reality. Besides that, nationalism is a nonsense in a tiny jurisdiction of only 30,000 people (as in the case of Liechtenstein). Therefore, if we want to protect our fundamental rights, we need competing small states and the best way to enlarge the market is to ...

Enduring Faith | Beyond the Cover

There is no question that Christianity is under attack. It is also clear that it is waning in various parts of the world including the West. But can Christianity ever be destroyed? In this episode of “Beyond the Cover,” host Gary Benoit asks longtime contributor Selwyn Duke this question. His unequivocal response is that Christianity will always endure. To support this conclusion, he cites the ebbs and flows of history. From Roman times to the present, various despots who have imagined themselves as gods on earth have tried to destroyed Christianity. But despite the persecutions, faith has always emerged triumphant. Selwyn Duke is the author of “Enduring Faith,” the ...

Sam Brinton’s Dubious “Conversion Therapy” Tale — and the Dupes Who Fell for It

Sam Brinton, the “nonbinary” Biden administration nuclear official fired for allegedly stealing women’s luggage, was also instrumental in the passage of state bans on “conversion therapy” — but his own horror story of such therapy doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. What’s more, conversion-therapy proponents and opponents alike cautioned activists and legislators that Brinton’s tale was not to be trusted, but their warnings went unheeded. Click for Full Text!

The Bill of Rights Keeps Tyranny at Bay

To many Americans, Thursday is just another day in the week of no consequence as they go about their daily lives. If we were to do man-on-the-street interviews asking passersby what significant event happened on this day in our nation’s history 231 years ago, this writer is certain that very few would know the correct answer: The ratification of the Bill of Rights became an official part of the U.S. Constitution following vigorous national debate on December 15, 1791. The Bill of Rights was birthed at the Constitutional Convention in October of 1789 by Anti-Federalists who were opposed to the ratification of the 1787 U.S. Constitution because they feared that the new national ...

These Memos Show That FDA Regulation of E-Cigarettes Is Driven by Dubious Value Judgments Rather Than Science
Post Date: 2022-12-15 19:35:25 by Charles_Byrd

It has long been clear that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is leery of approving nicotine vaping products in flavors other than tobacco because the agency worries that they appeal to teenagers. Two recently disclosed FDA memos not only confirm that impression; they indicate that the agency is determined to ban all other flavors, no matter how popular they are among former smokers and no matter what evidence a manufacturer presents in favor of a particular product. The memos came to light thanks to a lawsuit that Logic Technology filed against the FDA after the agency approved the marketing of the company's tobacco- flavored e-cigarettes but rejected applications for ...

As Brian Bukle neared the end of his sentence in a California jail, he was hopeful. It was June 2020, and he was excited to be released in time to spend Father's Day with his son after serving two years. "Instead, I came this close to being deported and losing everything, a nightmare that has stayed with me to this day," Bukle said last year. Rather than being released to his family, Bukle became ensnared in deportation proceedings and was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for 36 days, according to a lawsuit filed last November in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. But at no point during the legal ordeal was Bukle deportable, ...

How Brittney Griner’s Plight Exposes the Hypocrisy of America’s Carceral State
Post Date: 2022-12-15 19:29:41 by Charles_Byrd

On Thursday morning, from the White House lawn, President Joe Biden announced Brittney Griner would be coming home, proclaiming “I’m proud that today we have made one more family whole again.” But among the millions of families made incomplete by the American carceral state, many won’t share his pride in the United States. Griner’s release was garnered through a “prisoner swap” in which Biden freed and sent convicted arms Viktor Bout dealer to Russia. Her arrival back to her home country ends a nine-month-long ordeal that began when the basketball star, in Russia to play in one of the country’s basketball leagues, was detained at a Russian airport ...

Diseases That Studies Linked to E-Cigarettes Generally Were Diagnosed Before Subjects Began Vaping
Post Date: 2022-12-14 21:42:30 by Charles_Byrd

In recent years, a bunch of studies have reported correlations between nicotine vaping and various smoking-related diseases, seemingly undermining the case for e-cigarettes as a harm-reducing alternative to combusted tobacco. But as a new analysis in the journal Internal and Emergency Medicine notes, those studies paid no attention to the question of whether the diseases were diagnosed before or after the subjects began vaping—a glaring omission when you are trying to figure out whether the associations indicate cause-and-effect relationships. Sometimes information on the timing of diagnoses was not included in the survey data on which researchers relied. But the Population Assessment ...

The collapse of the crypto giant FTX by no means indicates the failure of the cryptocurrency market—but rather serves as a strong signal of crypto’s staying power. In this interview with The New American, John Tamny of RealClearMarkets.com explains why the crypto currency has a powerful potential, and why he is not concerned with the prospects of the central bank digital currencies (CBDC) pursued by the Biden administration. In 2001, Sony acquired video game studio Naughty Dog, which would go on to produce some of the most popular and critically acclaimed video games of the last two decades. The Uncharted series, which began in 2007 with Drake's Fortune, has spawned four main games, a handful of spinoff entries, and a big budget movie staring Mark Wahlberg. The Last of Us and its 2020 sequel rank among the most acclaimed video games in history; next year, a big-budget, prestige TV adaptation of the first game will air on HBO. Both game franchises are and have always been what the gaming industry refers to as "console exclusives," meaning only one line of video game consoles supports them—the ...

Even States That Have Already Decriminalized Marijuana Use See Fewer Possession Arrests After Legalization

President Joe Biden and many other politicians who continue to resist marijuana legalization instead advocate decriminalization of simple possession. By replacing criminal penalties with civil fines, they argue, legislators can reduce possession arrests without taking the further step of allowing recreational use. But according to a new JAMA Open Network study, states see substantial reductions in marijuana arrests after they legalize recreational use even when they have already decriminalized possession of small amounts. University of California, San Diego, researchers Christian Gunadi and Yuyan Shi analyzed FBI data on marijuana possession arrests from 2010 to 2019 in 31 states, ...
