On Friday, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), along with fellow committee member Dan Bishop (R-N.C.), sent a letter to the CEO of Ceres, a climate “sustainability organization,” which appears to accuse the organization of holding back documents that the committee needs to investigate alleged collusion between Ceres (through a group known as “Climate Action 100+, which looks to make businesses take actions on so- called climate change) and American financial companies. The letter accuses Ceres of acting “like a cartel” to ensure that companies are following environment, social, and governance (ESG)- approved business models, and the Judiciary Committee is ...

Authorities on Monday were trying to piece together what led to the attack Saturday in Allen, which ended when police shot and killed the suspected gunman, who was identified as 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Supreme Court weighs 'equity theft' claim after state seized 94-year-old's home

The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday appeared sympathetic to the appeal of a 94-year-old Minnesota woman who got no compensation when the government seized her home over a small unpaid tax bill -- and pocketed the profit. Many justices suggested the practice, which the plaintiff's lawyers at the Pacific Legal Foundation have termed "home equity theft," could run afoul of the Fifth Amendment's prohibition against government taking private property without "just compensation." Democrat lawmakers double down on their double standard for justices

Democratic lawmakers now attacking Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas over supposed ethics violations have largely avoided calling out similar behavior from the high court’s liberal justices. Following the ProPublica report on Clarence Thomas’ vacations, which were paid for by long-time friend and billionaire real estate developer Harlan Crow, Democrats urged him to resign and began calling for a new Supreme Court code of ethics. But, as some Republicans noted during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, they have overlooked the political entanglements of liberal justices—including trips former Justice Stephen Breyer took that were funded by a Democrat donor, ...

State fiscal watchdogs lead national pushback on new mortgage fees

Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity leads a coalition of state financial officials pushing back against new federal mortgage fees they call “unconscionable.” “This new policy makes it more expensive for people with good credit to buy houses – and that’s absurd,” she said. “Americans who have built a good credit score and saved enough to make a strong down payment should not be penalized and forced to pay more on their mortgage every single month.” Click for Full Text!

Internal Revenue Service agents don't need to be armed, but the agency wants them to have guns so they can intimidate Americans, Grover Norquist, the president of Americans for Tax Reform, told Newsmax on Sunday. 'The Marines, when they advertise for Marines, they don't add and be ready to shoot people, and yet the IRS thought that was a good idea," Norquist said on Newsmax's "Wake Up America." Those remarks, along with those of other Florida officials whom Disney cited as denouncing its purported "woke ideology," can help the company lay the groundwork for a retaliation case, legal experts told Insider. State gives up on new law demanding abortions for women who don't want them

A new state law that purported to demand abortions for women who don't want them apparently is too extreme even for Colorado, where lawmakers already have been so radical on the issue of destroying the unborn that they have declared they have no rights in the state – ever. "Colorado’s attorney general ran away from this law once he realized the legislature had shot from the hip," explained Rebekah Ricketts, counsel at Becket. "Now that the state has promised under oath to act as if the law does not exist, women in Colorado will not be forced to undergo abortions they seek to reverse." Click for Full Text!

Justice Samuel Alito has a “pretty good idea” who leaked the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health organization draft, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday. Alito revealed in an interview with the WSJ that he believes he knows who is responsible for the Dobbs decision leak that sparked months of protests outside conservative justices’ homes and an attempt to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh, though he said that is “different from the level of proof that is needed to name somebody.” The motive, he said, was to prevent the draft from becoming the decision: “And that’s how it was used for those six weeks by people on the outside—as part of the ...

New Koch

After the founder of a large foundation dies, his heirs often transform it. Compare industrial tycoon Henry Ford to the Ford Foundation, which rejects “the model of capitalism we have today.” But it is uniquely odd that Charles Koch’s enterprises have moved so far left while the donor remains alive. Billions of dollars are at stake. Many current and former donor partners, grantees, and staff agree: “Old Koch” was about economic freedom and the core values that sustain a free society, but “New Koch” downplays or hides those values in order to appeal to the contemporary Left. Old Koch focused on getting government out of the way so that civil society could ...
