A Vermont school district is no longer using the terms “male” and “female” when teaching sexual education classes, according to a letter obtained by Parents Defending Education (PDE), a parental rights organization. Founders Memorial School Principal Sara Jablonski notified families on April 20 that teachers will no longer be using gender-specific words such as “male,” “female,” “boy” and “girl” when teaching fifth-grade health lessons that include puberty and the human reproductive system, according to a letter obtained by PDE. Instead, teachers will describe a man as a “person who produces sperm” and refer to a woman ...

Cornell's President Defends Free Speech Against Illiberal Impulses

The last time I spoke at Cornell University, the turnout was tiny but attentive. Conservative commentator Ann Coulter, who graduated from Cornell a few years before I did, attracted a much larger crowd when she visited the campus in November, but her talk was repeatedly interrupted by loud and angry protesters, and she left in frustration after half an hour. It was not a proud moment for Cornell. But the university's response to that embarrassing incident was encouraging, and Cornell President Martha Pollack recently provided further evidence that she is committed to defending civil debate and academic freedom against illiberal activists who cannot abide opposing views. Her example is ...

Dem hearing witness: It's harder to 'protect' students who 'get away from public schools'

While discussing civil rights laws, a Democrat witness said it is harder to protect students if they leave the public school system and go to a private or religious institution, according to a Tuesday Education and Workforce Committee hearing. During a hearing on school choice, Democrat Oregon Rep. Suzanne Bonamici asked how students and families may be affected by private and religious schools, who may not be subjected to federal civil rights laws. Dr. Derek Black, a professor of law at the University of South Carolina and the Democrat witness at the hearing, said that students and families who choose to attend private and religious schools are harder to protect from discrimination. ...

Don't Freak Out Over Teens Having Fast Food Jobs

Teenagers are less and less likely to meet once-important milestones of independence. Young people are now less likely to have a driver's license, less likely to be sexually active, and less likely to have a job than their parents were. However, some states are enacting reforms that might help with one of these trends. In the face of a severe labor shortage, several states are liberalizing child labor laws, making it easier for teenagers to enter the work force. But while the recent attempts to liberalize child labor law have been minimal at best, it hasn't kept critics from framing the reforms as inherently exploitative and dangerous—an approach that ignores the numerous ...

The nation is still reeling from the massacre at Covenant School, a private elementary Christian academy in Nashville, Tennessee, where 28- year-old transgender Audrey Elizabeth Hale stormed into the building and stalked the halls, randomly murdering three small children and three adults. Looking at Hale's younger photos on social media and reading comments from those who knew her, we get an image of a quiet, sweet girl. This was not someone who could go on a murder rampage. What changed about this young woman? Who was she really? Click for Full Text!

1. Alex, we are a world at war, whether people acknowledge it or not. It is globalism versus the nation state. The globalist war on the nation state is a culture war fought without bullets, that targets the nation’s children, because children are the future of every society on Earth. And the classroom is globalism’s chosen battlefield, because whoever controls the educational curriculum controls the future. Why is that true? Because children live what they learn. Education is an industry, and like all industries, it produces a product. The goal of America’s enemies is to produce an unaware, compliant citizenry for the planned globalist Unistate. The war on America’s ...

Cornell University recently rejected a proposal that had been unanimously approved by the school’s student government to include trigger warnings in the class syllabi for any "traumatic content" they would be studying. On March 23, the Cornell University Student Assembly voted unanimously to approve a resolution to "require instructors who present graphic traumatic content that may trigger the onset of symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to provide advance notice to students and refrain from penalizing students who opt out of exposure to such content." A mother of two in New Jersey has filed a lawsuit over an alleged smear campaign spearheaded by a military officer after she made a post on Facebook opposing a “polysexual” poster at her seven-year-old daughter's school. The lawsuit, which the Thomas More Society filed on behalf of Angela Reading, alleges that North Hanover Township's police chief together with military personnel at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst demanded the removal of her Facebook post, portrayed her as a “security threat” and reported her to several law enforcement agencies in an attempt to silence her. Academia’s Feminocracy Is Real — and It’s Killing Education and Freedom

“The future is female,” the feminist rallying cry goes. If this is true, the future is “now” in academia, and if academia is any indication, the future is also something else: bleak. This conclusion could be drawn from a recent article, “In Loco Masculi,” by Manhattan Institute fellow Heather Mac Donald. In it she reports on a most ironic development: While the university system was created by men and for men, its feminization is now “all but complete.” The problem is that, far from the “gentler” sex’s dominance creating a kinder, gentler, college experience, research shows that female faculty are fostering academic tyranny. 2023 National Right to Life Pro-Life Essay Contest: First place in the Senior Division

Do humans truly have rights? According to the United Nations, “Human rights include the right to life and liberty. Freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, and many more. Everyone is entitled to these rights, without discrimination.” However, how can we say all humans have rights if we don’t include the most precious of humans: the unborn? The philosophical and religious belief that the fetus is undeniably a person is the basis for my belief that abortion is wrong. Conception is the point where we are created, where life begins and then extends through to our natural death. Click for Full Text!

The dangers of 'one-size-fits-all' education

There’s a world of difference in the abilities of elementary school students in the Trotwood-Madison City School District, outside Dayton, Ohio. Some low-performing fifth graders are only capable of reading first- grade picture books with basic words like dog and cat, says Angie Fugate, a district specialist focusing on gifted education. In the same classrooms, the aces read at a sixth-grade level, devouring thick novels that adults also enjoy, including the Harry Potter series. “It's like we have gone back to the days of the one-room schoolhouse,” Fugate says. “The gap is really huge and yet we are supposed to teach them all the same curriculum. It’s a very ...
