No, Pope Francis Is Not Changing the Lord's Prayer

James Tissot, “The Lord’s Prayer”, ca. 1890 This is a classic case of the pope saying something and the media distorting it. Newspapers and websites erupted over the weekend with headlines like: Lord's Prayer: Pope Francis calls for change (BBC)Pope Francis proposes change to the Lord's Prayer (AOL)Pope Francis wants to change the Lord's Prayer - Here's why (Catholic.Org)Pope Francis calls for Lord’s Prayer translation to be changed (Catholic Herald) Shame on all of them. The Shroud Of Turin Is Not Jesus' Burial Cloths

Tonight, CNN presented a one hour television documentary special entitled “Finding Jesus: Faith, Fact, Forgery.” I thought this title was inappropriate because the entire episode was about whether or not the Shroud of Turin is the burial cloth of Jesus. Thus, the title should have had “Shroud of Turin” in it or the like. CNN did some advertising of this special, so I think they were a bit deceptive about whole thing. They interviewed some scholars, including Ben Witherington III who is a friend of mine. I am always surprised by the attention given the Shroud of Turin by many people who supposedly believe the New Testament gospels are historically authentic. If you ...

WHY I LEFT SCOFIELDISM (I am a 'Recovering "Christian Zionist" Rothschild-Israel Worshiper')

WHY I LEFT SCOFIELDISM Breaking away from the fascinating teachings of The Scofield Reference Bible was one of the most difficult decisions of my entire life. Even after doubts arose in my mind, it took some seven or eight years to relinquish the ready-made theological clothing I had worn since the day of my conversion. For I was saved, at the age of sixteen, in a Baptist church where almost everyone carried a Scofield Bible. My spiritual tutors knew the footnotes and headings placed in the Bible by C. I. Scofield as well as they knew the Bible itself. Indeed, the two had become almost synonymous in their minds even as they were destined to become in my own mind. Even today it is difficult ...

Bearing One Another’s Burdens

Bearing One Another’s Burdens by John MacArthur The troubles of this world are manifold and relentless. It’s not easy to stay so focused on heaven that we remain unperturbed by the afflictions of earthly life. We’re commanded, of course, to set our minds on things above, not on earthly things (Col. 3:2), but even the most committed believer will testify that earthly trials sometimes obscure the heavenly perspective. We worry. We grieve. We stumble. We strain under the toil of our daily labors. We feel the guilt of our fallen condition. Meanwhile, we are assaulted with adversities of various kinds. Those are just a few of the many worldly burdens that frequently keep our ...

Philippine president slammed for calling God 'stupid'

The Philippine president, notorious for having cursed the pope and world leaders like former U.S. President Barack Obama, has sparked new outrage by calling God "stupid" in Asia's largest Catholic country. Opposition Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV shot back Monday by describing President Rodrigo Duterte as "one evil man" and his remarks as "very much consistent with the deceitfulness, heartlessness and ruthlessness of his policies." Even some of Duterte's political allies were critical. A Catholic Bishop, Arturo Bastes, called the president a "madman" and urged Filipinos to pray for an end to Duterte's "blasphemous utterances and ...

[what is justification] Dikaiosyne Theou (The Righteousness of God)

[...] In the interpretation of the theme righteousness of God, the problem begins when one considers the meaning of words. Words neither exist by themselves without a context, nor are texts written as free-floating packages of meaning without a historical basis or a place in their cultural milieu. The language Paul used was Greek, but as a Jew he participated in a culture that was Hebrew as well as Greco-Roman. Since Paul quotes passages of the OT throughout his letters, one must understand Paul as writing within the tradition of the Hebrew Bible. By reason of Paul’s frequent use of the Septuagint version of the Hebrew Bible, the same concepts in the LXX should be given due ...

A British comedy series took on both race and religion in a sketch about a white churchgoer who seeks help and encounters Jesus. But the savior wasn’t what he expected.  Jesus was black.“Have you heard my story?” Jesus asked. “I was arrested by a mob of angry government officials and beaten for a crime I didn’t commit. That shit doesn’t happen to white people.” See the full segment from the BBC Three show “Famalam” in the clip above.

The Vatican has opened its doors for its annual exorcism course amid increasing demand among some of the world's Catholic communities. As many as 250 priests from 50 countries have arrived in Rome to learn how to identify demonic possession, to hear personal accounts from other priests and to find out more about the rituals behind expelling demons.Exorcism remains controversial, in part due to its depiction in popular culture and horror films. But there have also been some cases of abuse linked to exorcisms in a range of religious sects. The week-long Vatican course is described as the only international series of lectures of its kind. Entitled Exorcism and the Prayer of Liberation, it ...

The EPA chief is on a mission from God – but fears greenies bearing guns Scott Pruitt is at the center of a political firestorm that may see him removed from the Trump administration. It’s a stark turn of events for the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, who has seen himself as on a mission from God. The former church deacon is an adherent of a religious dogma that holds that the Earth’s resources are man’s divine inheritance. Pruitt blasts the environmental movement’s push to keep fossil fuels in the ground as "wrongheaded." In a February interview with the Christian Broadcast Network, Pruitt elaborated: "The biblical worldview ...

But God Himself provides the only way to overcome that sin., "the righteousness of God which is ...

On The Greek word “pharmakia”
Post Date: 2018-03-26 00:30:01 by A K A Stone

The Greek word “pharmakia” literally means “drugs”, and appears five times in the New Testament: in Gal 5:20, Rev 9:21, 18:23, 21:8, and 22:15. “Pharmakia” is translated into our English Bible as either “witchcraft” or “sorceries”. We also get our English word “pharmacy” from the Greek word “pharmakia”. In each of the above five passages, “pharmakia”, or “drugs” is listed as a work of the flesh of man as opposed to the Spirit of God working in us. For example, Gal 5:16-23 in the KJV: 16 “[This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh ...

Exposing the Lie of Romans 13: Misinterpretation Claiming that Evil Government is Ordained by God

Published on Jan 14, 2012 What does Paul say in Romans 13 about government, really? How does that apply to American politics and emergencies. The lie that all government is ordained by God is answered plainly and directly. God is righteous and ordained righteous government to enforce His justice by defending the people and their divinely established unalienable rights. Don't fall for the lies of paid off, sold out FEMA preachers, Clergy Response Team members.

Evolution or Creation Science? [Full Thread]

In my years as a priest and of sharing the Gospel, I have heard many reasons offered for not becoming a Christian: scandals associated with clergy, the wealth of the Church, the Crusades, the Inquisition, etc. etc. I thought I had more or less heard it all, and so was unprepared for a reason one young man offered to justify his rejection of Orthodoxy—namely, that dinosaurs were not in the Bible. I blinked a few times, and was left temporarily speechless (something of a rarity with me, to which those who know me well can attest). His idea was that since dinosaurs obviously existed (their skeletons adorn our museums), then if the Bible was God’s Word, he should be able to read ...

The Book Of Enoch EXPOSED!

Is the Book of Enoch really a lost book of the Bible? A born-again Christian who has been reading the Bible for several years only needs to read the "Book of Enoch" briefly to know that something is very wrong. There are so many obvious flaws with this alleged missing book of God's Word. It is clear to me that someone copied from the Bible and wrote this garbage. The same type of mumbo-jumbo can be readily observed in the Qur'an. I do NOT believe that Enoch, who lived during the time period of Genesis, wrote this manuscript. Evidently the King James translators didn't either, and for good reason. The Devil is working relentlessly to corrupt God's Word, as he has ...

Who Were the Nephilim?

Genesis 6:1–6 Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God (bene Elohim) saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God (bene Elohim) came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was ...

The hallelujah cure: Trump campaign adviser says pray away the flu
Post Date: 2018-02-12 11:23:00 by Willie Green

Brethren, our topic for this week’s column is the flu, because I have it. I followed the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and got a vaccination, which may or may not have lessened my symptoms. But then I discovered I had neglected the most important prophylaxis of all: prayer. This advice came from the evangelist Gloria Copeland, who with her husband, Kenneth, runs a religious empire based largely on faith healing. Copeland posted a video last week that argued, passionately if incoherently, either that the flu doesn’t actually exist (“We got a duck season, a deer season, but we don’t have a flu season”) or that faith can protect you from it ...

Eastern Orthodox Interpretation [of the Bible]
Post Date: 2018-02-12 05:04:25 by A Pole

Eastern Orthodox churches have long remained fervently committed to the organic interrelationship between scripture and ecclesial tradition (Florovsky 1972; Bulgakov 1988, pp. 9–26; Staniloae 1994, pp. 37–78; Vassiliadis 2005; Stylianopoulos 2008). From its inception, they believe, the church relied both on a canon of Holy Scripture (taken over from Judaism and eventually expanded with a “New” Testament) and on a “canon of truth” or rule of faith based at once in scripture itself and in the sanctified intuition of the church (Irenaeus, Against Heresies 1.9.4; 1.10.1–3). The Christian biblical canon and the theological canons of its legitimate ...

Female Rabbi Publishes The Single Stupidest Piece On Biblical Adam And Eve Ever Written. It's Not Close.

On Thursday evening, The Forward unleashed the single most illiterate piece ever written on the Biblical story of Adam and Eve. The piece defies description; it has to be read to be believed. Its central thesis, however, is that God somehow sexually harassed Eve, and that Eve is “the first case of #MeToo.” This is not a total surprise coming from the same publication that ran a piece this week suggesting that Orthodox Jews are the new white supremacists. The author, Tamara Kolton, is a female rabbi and psychologist in Birmingham, Michigan. She’s also the author of a presumably unreadable soon-to-be-released book, Oranges for Eve: Walking The Way of the Divine Feminine. But ...
