It is tariff day in Washington.

President Trump will meet with European officials to talk trade tariffs.

The meeting is with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

Trump proposed in a tweet, that both sides drop all tariffs, barriers and subsidies.

Trump, although doubts the Europeans will go for the idea.

The tweet said: "That would finally be called Free Market and Fair Trade! Hope they do it, we are ready - but they won't!"

The key is no subsidies to protect business. That works both ways for fair trade. It also will allow US to break subsidies here in the US!(subsidies to big mega global corps).

The Donald rides shotgun during a Range Rover trip in Ireland

He probably wants to buy a fleet of Range Rovers for the kids and staff, without paying tariffs.

He had a pile of Range Rovers when he went to Buckingham Castle to meet the Queen too.

When in Rome you drive Rome style vehicles. BTW drive what you like unless you are a socialist/Fascist/Commie which you are told what to drive.

This is probably a courtesy issue and vehicle provided by the Queen.

If it's still the same as it was when I was there Rovers are pretty much the biggest and nicest passenger vehicles there, most everything else is smaller, less comfortable and made to get better gas mileage. Average price for a gallon of fuel was about $9 depending on the exchange rate and about 70% of that was taxes.

They don't belong to him. They belong to the British Security Services.

I LOVE it as a theory, but it will never happen because it steps on the toes of too many influential and wealthy people.

I have a friend whose son is in the USAF,and stationed in England now.

His father LOVES Cadillac's and has several. He gave his boy a met black 70's Sedan De Ville that looked like a new one to take there with him.

I haven't heard, but MY best guess is that Caddy is now long gone, and hat boy is driving a Jag or Austin Healy.

I couldn't even imagine filling the gas tank, never mind finding a parking spot big enough to park it in.

When I was there everyone was allowed a certain amount of gas rations every month, the further you lived from base the more rations you were allowed. These rations allowed you to buy gas on base at a substantially reduced rate at a price somewhat comparable to gas in the states. Beings that Caddy had a 5something engine in it and got maybe 9 miles to the gallon he's either sold it to some rich bloke who collects American cars or it's sitting still in the barracks parking lot.

My first car I owned while stationed there was a Ford/Mercury Capri which was Okay but had suspension issues so I got rid of it and bought an Austin Marina. The Marina had basically the same engine as the MGs, the 1.8 with twin SU carbs. It ran good and got decent mileage when the carbs were synced but got lousy mileage when they weren't. Syncing them was about a once a month ordeal, needless to say that got old quick. I was gone TDY quite a bit while stationed there so it became more expedient to pay the next door neighbor to do the work. He was a car junkie that worked in the Security Police motor pool at Lakenheath. He had a Mini that he had modified exstensively and would race it on the weekends periodically. The Mini came from the factory with an 850cc engine IIRC and he somehow shoehorned a 1475cc GT engine and tranny into it, talk about a fun little car to drive. lol

The Marina was also sold in the states under the Morris name along with a few other models. My Dad bought a used Morris Minor when I was about 7 and drove it until it puked.

When I was a kid the local rural delivery mailman drove a Morris Minor convertible to deliver mail. His normal run was close to 100 miles round trip every day and he was the low bidder to score the job,so I guess gas mileage was a big deal for him even in the early 60's.

I always thought it was a pretty cool car, even if it wasn't a real convertible.

The Minor was quite popular and came quite a few different ways, convertible as you mentioned, hardtop, pickup truck, 2 different vans and even a "Woody" (sans surfboards of course). It was the precursor to the Marina which debuted the same year they quit making the Minor. The Marina though was much more limited in it's styles but had more engine options.

I wouldn't mind having one of the pickups to customize with a bigger power plant, I imagine a nice 3 liter engine/tranny combo would push it quite nicely down the road, if it would fit. lol
